As a long time Gimmick Puppet player who's also aware of IV's deck list (or for you dubbers, Quattro), I've come to the conclusion that the name "Gimmick Puppet" doesn't refer to the cards individually, but the combos that can be made with cards featured in IV's deck. One of the combos I found accessible after reading his deck list would be Overlay Dark Reincarnation and Gimmick Vengeance. I'm not saying these are good combos.
As someone who's been stupid enough to actually play Gimmick Puppets for years, I feel like you're vastly underrating Gear Changer. Sure, it has its limitations, but you can use it to combo with Magnet Doll or Dreary Doll to go from an empty field to a rank 8.
It being EARTH is also invaluable as Mythic Water Dragon makes a surprisingly good tech that you can SS in the presence of Gear Changer or Egg Head. Plus if you prefer Inferno Reckless Summon MWD is also one of its targets too. But that being said, Gear Changer is definitely something you run @2 and only @2.
The year is 2023. People are using Gimmick Puppet Nightmare with Branded Banishment to floodgate their opponents for a turn. Most useful Gimmick Puppet of all time.
This is by far one of your funniest videos. Keep up the great work, Rata. Also I noticed that all the GP Number monsters’ numbers involve 8. 40 and 88 are multiples, but if you’re wondering about 15, 15=3X5, and 3+5=8! It all works out.
What konami should have done to slow the game, rather fhan links: you can only special summon frome each location (hand, deck, graveyard, and extra deck) once per turn, unless an effect says otherwise. Also, more draw power, but only be able to activate one search out 2 cards per turn (one from the deck, one from the graveyard) unless a card effect says otherwise. That would slow the game, and make it less frusterating
Heraldics are OK at swarming the field to make rank 4s but their actual xyz monsters are complete garbage. They're OK I'd say, with more support they'd do much better
Fun looking back on this when Yubel's meta. I wonder what can we say that won't become true about this game in 7 years. Dark Scorpions will receive really good support? Lol
I have rewatched every Rata video like 10 times and I still couldn’t tell you what Gimmick Puppet Des Troy does without looking it up. So rewatchable .
This is vídeo is actually even funnier ‘cause I’m from the future and it was just released a Gimmick Puppet ~okay~ Link Monster. Are Konami creators watching any of these vídeos? 😂
Okay Rata this field spell meme is getting out of hand now fucking Vehicroids and Cyber Darks are getting a field spell. Is Konami actively looking at legacy of the worthless and actually taking the advice cause if so do a Legacy of the Worthless on U.A.s for the sake of us getting the damn hockey players.
you know, i just looked at the actual international artwork for "Dreary doll". i don't know what pisses me off more from international releases, the names or the art modification. replaced the coffin for a generic box (with a frikkin bow on it), AND removed the stains. they sent her to the cleaners so heavily.
It's worth noting that Gimmick Puppet Nightmare's effect was more useful in the anime, where it could be used as two materials for an XYZ monster. Not sure why it was given this more asinine effect, but a few of the Gimmick Puppet monsters were nerfed when they were printed.
Konami doesn't want monsters treated as multiple materials. Every single Zexal monster with the effect of being 2 xyz material was changed to summon another one of itself when printed.
Gimmick puppets I think are the one xyz deck that can get some decent rank eights out in one turn, especially with good synergies like machina cannon and gearspring. Number wall also makes the deck a tad stronger since your numbers basically become untouchable while that trap card is up.
Honestly, Gimmicks hold a special place in my heart, while i was but a small shaddoll fan back in the day Gimmick Puppets helped me give that Nostalgia with thier great artwork.
You could always Junk Puppet Leo then Rank up into Disaster Leo To burn for 1000 and end with no materials... All we need to figure out is a way to deal 5000 more damage
I think that Toons may be a good archetype to review, being a deck focused on attacking directly, but usually having to wait a turn and dying to MST. It's not worthless but i think it's a good "better than worthless" option for a video.
(Relatively new player opinion incoming) Been experimenting with Gimmicks for some time, and I have some some-up points. 1. I think I used Nightmare effectively once or twice to reload my Xyz's (undo effects set on them and give them new Xyz materials). 2. This deck would be useless without Dreary doll. 3. When you are about to Xyz summon, 90% of the time it's best to go with Giant Grinder. 4. Giant Hunter is god. (But beware summon traps!) 5. When your opponent is about to wipe you out with 3-4 monsters, and you happen to have a Rank-up in hand. only then should you use Puppet of Stings... just to then summon Dark Stings... 6. Leo (and CLeo) have been mostly pointless in my time. 7. Scissors will die... ALWAYS! (how I usually get Twilight joker working) 8. Gimmicks pair well with Machina Cannon, and Machina Fortress. If you are concerned about the idea that your monsters are your friends, and that they feel fear. Then prepare to become a fucking Sadist, because these things were born to be scrapped into the GY, over... and over... and over again..
disaster Leo actually was pretty damn broken In the anime it dealt 4000 dmg per detach and got its win con by having no materials instead of counters so its just another broken anime card turned into shitty fan service (pun intended xD)

The Anime Leo just needed to detach all Xyz Materials, you could still attack and no limitation on Spell/Trapp Cards and Chaos Leo was one of the most absurd Burn Cards, since it was unaffected by other Monster Effects and could burn the opponent for 4000!! per detach, also you would win, if he has no materials.
I like Gimmick Puppet´s for theis design and they could OTK, if the planet´s alligned right, but most of the time, you would pass your turn, since this Deck can brick - hard.
After getting the newer support they hardly brick when I play them
@@acedefective1491 I haven't checked them out that much after MR4 came along, but the stuff I saw seemed interesting.
But I kinda stopped playing anyway x)
@@acedefective1491 Does the link monster help
@@CantusTropus absolutely, it's always a go to in combos and especially when I can't go into an xyz, you brick way less with it although in an ideal situation I don't recommend going for it first as it limits you to puppets afterwards
Frankly I think the Leo nerfs were warranted because the anime versions would almost certainly be abused for FTKs
Just wanted to comment about the new support that can FTK through handtraps.
Anyone else here because they're finally adding gimmick Puppets to duel links XD
Gimmick Puppet Gear Changer has to be super balanced! Have you seen his pose? If he wasn't he would topple over.
FINALLY
Dreary doll I love your videos
Dreary doll your profile picture say that you are part of the arctype
Dreary doll It's like you've been waiting your entire life.
I always love how you use these just obscure cards as hyperbole jokes. “They can run over it with anything stronger than a godd*mn metal fish.” That’s just funny to me.
"The One Who's Shape was Snathced" and Rata are my OTP
Glue-Eyes Archetype archive?
Shado White I summon glue eyes, thinner dragon!
Nah hotglue is the synchro, glue-eyes its the main deck monster
i use glue-eyes to put my opponent in a sticky situation
I thought Hotglue-eyes was the English translation.
Japanse names for wins
HotoGlue-Eyz Sticko Doragon
Hey I like Gimmick puppets.
Would you say Magnet doll is a boy or girl?
Why do I get the feeling that if Rank10 ever covers the gladiator beast, shapesnatch will be dressed as Caeser
That would be HILARIOUS!
Why should you run allure of darkness if you can play trade-in to set up your grave for dreary doll?
Alure of darkness would work. Even with the lower. Level. Monsters as opposed to trade in.
The year is 2023. People are using Gimmick Puppet Nightmare with Branded Banishment to floodgate their opponents for a turn. Most useful Gimmick Puppet of all time.
Rata. New support for Gimmick puppet. You gonna make a video about your thoughts on them?
This channel is like a sarcastic and meme-worthy version of The Duel Logs. I love it.👍
I wish disaster leo kept the anime effect of INFLICTING 4000 DAMAGE
Noble Knights Archetype Archive?
But but, if they just get a few good cards and a better field spell and maybe a link they'd be good! They're not bad or anything...
Yes please
Gaming Milk a fortune teller I see
He said he's NEVER doing them on Archetype Archive on Twitter.
This is by far one of your funniest videos. Keep up the great work, Rata.
Also I noticed that all the GP Number monsters’ numbers involve 8. 40 and 88 are multiples, but if you’re wondering about 15, 15=3X5, and 3+5=8! It all works out.
How about Destiny HEROes for the next Archetype Archive?
Seeing this in 2020 and he mentions link being new gave me whiplash
I remember picking this deck way back when. I LOVED the CXYZ Strings. Was so good back in the day.
I'm a simple plebian. I see new Archetype Archive, I click.
That's an interesting idea. Maybe it could be performed as a separate kind of duel, like the turbo duels in 5Ds.
Next must be Heraldic beasts. They're fun to play but so underrated. A couple more support cards and they'd be good.
Heraldics are OK at swarming the field to make rank 4s but their actual xyz monsters are complete garbage. They're OK I'd say, with more support they'd do much better
I wonder If Yubel will ever get any support cards
I can see a Fusion retrain of Neos Wiseman coming out in the future. But that's about it.
@@GatorRay this comment aged well
@@Spywaredev MAN you can not BELIEVE how happy I was when I found out that Neos Kleuger was a thing.
And they changed her name from "Necro Doll" to Dreary Doll. Doesn't make any sense.
60 card lawnmowing kaiju gimmick puppets let's go
Hey, you did Gimmick Puppets, one of my favorite archetypes. :) Cool. Now - Volcanics, please. :))
I'd love to hear your opinion on the "Red-Eyes" archetype at some point, and maybe Crystal Beasts.
Gobldygookyshmop yes, yes it did. Now we just need him the request Blue-Eyes, HEROs, the Numbers, and Cybers
@@wickederebus well we got blue eyes at least
@@patrickduffin7912 Now we just need Dark Magician to complete the original Legacy monsters
I just watched the batteryman one for the sixth time, then this is uploaded.
I did see a twitter post, don't know if it correlates to anything, but we may get an Archetype Archive on Morphtronics in the future.
Im from the future
you were right.
Why is your content the absolute best? I make popcorn for every video!
Gimmick puppets I think are the one xyz deck that can get some decent rank eights out in one turn, especially with good synergies like machina cannon and gearspring. Number wall also makes the deck a tad stronger since your numbers basically become untouchable while that trap card is up.
Now you've memed Gimmick Puppet Chimera Doll into existence which can dump Dreary Doll into the graveyard.
I'm pretty sure Shapesnatch had enough of Rata at the end and decided to say that just to piss him off.
Honestly, Gimmicks hold a special place in my heart, while i was but a small shaddoll fan back in the day Gimmick Puppets helped me give that Nostalgia with thier great artwork.
Archtype Archive Ninjas?
Awesome, I've been waiting for this for a while!
Number Wall works very well with them since their boss monsters are all numbers.
James Hurley and on number 88 it's completely useless
If anyone didn't pause to see the gag about the Rank Up Magic card, it was Rank-Up Magic Quick Chaos
You could always Junk Puppet Leo then Rank up into Disaster Leo To burn for 1000 and end with no materials... All we need to figure out is a way to deal 5000 more damage
6:20: "This bitch slow, YETT!" *Destruction sound effect plays* Im Dead! XD
Are Earthbound Immortals Considered an Arctype ?
it looks like he lives in a giant box
I think that Toons may be a good archetype to review, being a deck focused on attacking directly, but usually having to wait a turn and dying to MST. It's not worthless but i think it's a good "better than worthless" option for a video.
The deck is good now
I think Chronomaly would be cool for the next Archetype Archive the guy that played Gimmick Puppets brother used Chronomaly.
DanielSapphire
Trey in the dubbed anime I believe
3 in the original
His first actual name before his father came back in to his life was Michael
And 4 (Aka Quatro. really can't hate the dub for those name IMO) his original name is Thomas.
Can’t forget Dyson sphere :D oh and that dude with white hair and a stupid name.
WOO! An Archetype Archive on my birthday! Thank you Rank10!
6:23, HowToBasic would be proud.
(Relatively new player opinion incoming)
Been experimenting with Gimmicks for some time, and I have some some-up points.
(But beware summon traps!)
ALWAYS! (how I usually get Twilight joker working)
Man, I remember when Link summoning was new and no body had any idea the absolute menace Firewall Dragon would become.
you should do gladiator beasts next, those guys were awesome.
Egghead has a "Cowboy for game" effect!
(Also after enough thought I can solidly say that Quattro was my favorite Arclight.)
2:57 ..... nightmare fuel
Can we have an animated version of the skits here. Some of them are totes hilarious
Gimmick Puppet support confirmed!!
I hope we can get a Shadolls video like this one someday
My first official deck that I built on my own was actually a Gimmick Puppet deck. It was spicy and won quite a lot, but I had to build a new deck to contest with my friend’s Cyber Dragon deck after I couldn’t win with it anymore.
Are you me? That's exactly what I did.
Myles W Did you also have to build a new deck against Cyber Dragons When Gimmick Puppets were no longer cutting it?
The fact that gimmick puppet of strings managed to land a spot on the latest Bannister is still really funny to me
