It's so satisfying to see a new build with matching drives. I got a mix bag of whatever nvmes were on sale.
Doesn’t matter what drives they are, as long as they work lol
Matching drives is actually not ideal. Especially if from same lot. It increases chances of multiple drive failures at once. Mixing up brands is best for NAS or RAID purposes.
SSD is full. It's best.
I think the speed of the main Internet line is important.
I installed two SAMSUNG 1TB units and one 512GB unit on my NAS.
it can be expensive though
hard drives are cheaper but slower
Amazing... Is it possible to have an offline version yet still access out of your home for photos and such? Also, Is there an offline facial/ object recognition that you can add to it to make searching photos easier? Thank you from Germany
No
If you run it offline you could have it hooked up in house. But to access it offsite you'd need to connect it to the internet.
Yes, you can connect directly to PC as use it as “local” storage, or you can connect to switch/router and block WAN, so it’s only accessible on LAN.
If you have a server or other always on device with more than one NIC, you can connect NAS to one NIC, and switch/router to the other.
@@rickytejera6707or you could just run a vpn off it/ or another computer like a pi which is much easier
VPN 😊
What transfer rates, does it have 6 PCIe lanes or is it limited by a switch?
Wow
🤗
does this comes up with ssd? can I upgrade the ram later? how much maximum ssd it can handle?
I believe it comes with 4gb. Upgradable to 16gb. Not sure on max SSD size
Can you connect it to TV for video streaming
need to know too
redundancy is alot of wear on an nvme
How so? They are not built like sd cards..?
@@rogerhalt3991 Nvme as well as ssd. They are both rated for less read and writes vs a HDD.
@@serithin4703 that's why he's using a NAS rated nvme drive.
Not buying anything ASUS after the Gamer Nexus investigation..
True dat
It’s not Asus 😂
Asus and Asustor are not the same company, nor are either owned by each other
Bro it's not affiliated with Asus 💀
What happens if the lights shuts down? Do you lose the data?
Anyone should have a UPS tbh
No. . .and if somehow an NVme drive curropts (which it never does but still. . ) there is atleast 1 drive kept as redundency. . to recover the respective drives data
when the lights shuts off, your house will be dark..your data is not depending on lights
Need more cooling directly on the nvmes
Doet this have a gpu and cpu ?
Why would an NAS need a GPU?
How could a NAS NOT have a CPU?
@@wlyiu4057 why do you think?
@@marcgentner1322 You want the NAS to transcode media as well?
TOP
🙌
Wenn das nicht dieser unpraktische Formfaktor wäre..
How does this even work
It’s a fancy looking raspberry pi.
It employs magic
@@rogerhalt3991unnecessarily bold comment. I dislike consumer grade NAS devices but I’m pretty sure this thing is more powerful than a Pi, and regardless pi’s didn’t create the concept of a NAS or enable them to exist. Every headless computer isn’t automatically a glorified pi. A raspberry pi is (1 brand) of single board computer, not every computer
Mfw a server running nginx is a glorified rpi
Neat. And affordable. 💪
Price only one kidney
pls tell the those are all m.2 nvme drives and not just sata slots
They are. 2.5” SATA are bigger and look a lot different.
@@PCCrazyDario there are m.2 sata ports too. which look like m.2 pcie slot but a lot slower
@@jagadam97 Yeah, I know. But check out his sentence. First he mentions M.2 NVMe drives…
I want to see the gen 2, not this😂
I don’t think it’s for sale yet.
SATA would make so much more sense in this machine. Even more of them. 8 or even 12.
Ugliest design ever if you ask me...
