I've been using logic for a long time, since i upgraded to LPX the song file after bouncing on the same settings as before, mp3 320bit the song file is around 50mb and i have no idea why, a song is supposed to be like 8-18mb, anybody know whats going on?

what why liked the most is that u were very clear and quick to show what we need to know
As a drummer I needed this so much for exporting click tracks to songs that have tempo changes. Straight to topic, no stupid talk and no dumb "funny" things going on to beg for attention. Love it and subscibed for more Logic Pro X lessons.
You saved me in my time of desperate need, with none of the slow talking, babbling or other rubbish that turns me off of tutorials. Thank you very much! :D
As usual, a quality tutorial! Thanks! By the way, M4A: AAC is Apple's Audio Codec, which is the native format for iPods, iTunes, etc... Some use it as the audio component for videos, but it's not strictly a video codec.
When you bounce tracks is the volume level loud enough as a demo, or would you recommend what you did in your previous videos for Logic Pro 9, to export and then import the track to master and boost the volume?
Thanks for doing this. Super straight forward and to the point. Very much appreciated - time is a precious commodity that, if wasted can't be replaced. Subscribed.
Sorry if someone pointed this out already, but I believe M4A:AAC is the apple audio format that's used as one of the options in downloading iTunes music. When that option is chosen, there are no options for video, just audio. Maybe there's some customization that's needed to bring up those options but it does seem that the M4A:AAC option is for audio only.
No, you've made my mediocre music a little less mediocre with your videos. This video greatly improved the sound of my music. If you make one about the process of going from multiple tracks to a single master track let me know. I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos and they have greatly improved my technique. Thank you!
another great video Mitchel. I would just note that exporting and bouncing are not exactly the same. Whatever you choose to bounce goes all the way from raw data through all the plug-ins in the chain to final output. But you can export in AIFF just the raw data (or what it seems to be) with the export command and the plug-in by-pass option. I say "or what seems to be" because I still hear what seems to me to be some plug-in manipulation upstream in chain. But didn't take the time to find it.
Mitchel, thank you! your videos are always so helpful, now i know how to bounce with solo'd tracks still playing the animation i recorded! love what you do
Yeah the stereo option is no longer at the bottom of the channel strip. It is part of the input to the channel. Directly to the left of the input or instrument.
how would you go about bouncing audio to video? When I bounce to M4A I cant seem to see the video, I can only hear the audio when played in quicktime..... do you have any suggestions?
hey mitch i have come across this problem when i bounce a track even when i set my marker to the end of my song am getting a extra minute on it like a tail. do you known how come? hey an thank you for that tip
Thank you Michel. i have learned so much from you man, you teach the kind of shit that they teach in audio schools for money. but you share that information with us for free man. God takes pleasure in blessing people like you.
Hey Mitch, I'm having trouble with the bouncing volume. The problem is on the MIX project, i bring the master volume down a little ( i know you recommend not to do that but it works for me) But once i bounce it, and import that file into another project (for mastering) the mix is still at the loud volume even though I lowered it... This used to not be a problem and i thought well maybe my computer is just stupid and old...so fast forward..New computer...Logic Pro X...SAME PROBLEM!! HELP!!! lol
Nice review. Thank you. And what i appreciate with your tuto is that i don't waste my time. Everything is clear and easy to understand. (and i don't speak english very well !!!). Go on ...
Mitch, I just did my first bounce using these techniques and then brought the WAVE file back into a new project to be the final master mix. This gave me a door slamming sound at the beggining of the track.
Mitchel Pigsley my songs got mixed already and sent to me but theyre a bit low compared to other songs.. Do u think i can just put it back into logic as one mp3 track and raise da master vol
Great video! Thanks so much. I am very new at this and have one quick question; Do you bounce first to a wav and master or do you master then bounce to a wav? Thank you.
I bet you are clipping in your project, which will turn out to be a very unnatural distortion sound. You will need to manage that to make sure you aren't clipping anywhere before bouncing.
Clipping is when the gain on a particular track is too high and the peaks of the signal are "clipped" which adds that high end distortion. You can tell a track is clipping if the level above your track volume fader is outlined in red. To prevent it, you need to lower your track volumes until the clipping is gone. There are many types of clipping too. Audio file clipping, track clipping, and output clipping. Make sure you aren't violating any of these and your bounce will sound clean.
Thanks for this- I love the fast videos. I wish you could be a little more comprehensive with the options( you don't go over some so I have to find the answers elsewhere) but I love the information given
Good tutorial, I have 2 questions...can I combine multiple tracks( in this case vocals) into one track or bounced file...and secondly, how can I make sure effect plug ins are exported or bounced to the file?
Yes, you can solo out what tracks you want to bounce and then go through this interface to combine them. The plugins are automatically added to the track.
Thanks for the videos! Learning a lot here, thanks. I was wondering if you would mind going into specifically "Exporting/Bouncing for Mastering". I liked the video on mastering as well. Unlike the previous Logic version, there is no Stereo Mastering option (or the like). Do you have any advice on setting up a template to import a song to be mastered? Thanks again.
Hey Mitch... I just bounced my project when i go to the bounce folder to open it, it will not open.... it's gray instead of solid black... do u have any idea why... Please help... thanks in advance....
Hi Mitchel, when I bounce a mono track to my HD, when I open this track back into an other session the track is not mono anymore but stereo. Can you tell me how to keep it mono? Thank you.
I never had this problem before but now it seems like when I set the start and then I set the ending it never record the whole song and it cuts off the ending tell me why
Hi! Great video. I learned a lot! But I have an issue.. when I save my project and I don't turn on the ' normalise' button, the song is clipping in the parts with a high volume. But I did mastered it before and put a limiter on it. So do you know what the problem is?
Question, this wasn't always the case but for some reason when I bounce or export midi and or audio files, the effects are not being included even though i'm not purposely excluding them. any advice?
I'm having a bounce issue where the bounce sounds fine until I put it in iTunes - once in iTunes, it plays for 5 seconds, and then the volume drops. There are no enhancements active in iTunes. Any thoughts? My bounce definitely has some parts that are peaking. Could this be why?
the sound of bounced folder is not like the the sound of logic pro x? when i play my songs on logic pro x, sounds great but when I bounce to the mp3 I think there's a volume problem because all sound is changing... Yes I'm doing right you, 320 ect...
no matter what I do, my exported track is silent. I just spent 40 hours mixing a 2 hours project, including volume automation. The project plays perfect, but when I export (bounce) I get a completely silent track. A 2 hour, 300mb silent track. I don't know what else to do.
and I don't mean "low volume" I have complete silence. Zero noise. all the tutorials I find are for "fixing" the "lox volume issue" with exported (bounced) tracks that is associated with normalization being turned on.
Hey there! I am a newbie at all of this and just had a quick question. I have been using my Yamaha MOXF6 as an audio interface, sound module and midi-board. Before I got Logic I was making beats on the MOXF. I just learned how to get the MIDI from my keyboard to Logic and wanted to Bounce it. In my project I've been using Logic presets along with the Yamaha sounds, but when I Bounce the project, the only sounds that show up are the Logic presets. Could you please help me with this? Thanks! Gigi
Mitchel,Thanks for your tutorials. I just finished my first song in LogicProX. I did a simple mix and It sounded pretty good to me for my first project. However when I bounced it over to ITunes and then onto a CD the CD recording left something to be desired. I had to turn the volume up really high on my stereo to hear it and the drum track was almost was almost washed out. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Im having an issue with bouncing audio tracks with software tracks. Every time I bounce off line and (off) normalize, 16 bit and @ 44100 s rate, the bounce happens but when I want to have the mp3 played there is no sound. Any suggestions?
Please help! Everytime I bounce my project it only exports ONE track(the highlighted one). No matter what I do, cant export all tracks in one audio file! My example: I have only 3 tracks in this project, 1 voice over, 2 music, 3 sound effects. if track 1(voice) is highlighted, only that track would end up on my exported audio file! I downloaded Logic pro x only today
YO Bro! Thanks for the Vid! Def has been a big help as I was trying to figure out how to keep the volume of my songs at the same level when I bounced the track. THANKS!
haha! i figured it out! thank you. i realized i was able to get a much better sound quality and loudness out of the mastering when i bounced it out through the surround option. would that have anything to do with a better sound or do you think its a possibility i may have just mastered the overall track better than previous ones??
Unless you are purposely creating a track in surround, you should not use it. It might just be that you did a better master or the surround channel spaced your mix our wider.
The project itself is what you need to send. It's not called bouncing in this case. You will need a folder structure, then you can zip it up and send it.
When I try to bounce my project, and i have midi and audio files in there.... ONLY THE midi files bounces i do not hear the audio files!!! PLEASE HELP ?
Not sure why this would be happening besides maybe you left mute on or the files represented in your arrange window are pointing at nothing (so check in the audio bin to see if your files are still there). If you can hear it normally when you play through, try to bounce in real-time. If you end up hearing the audio, then that most likely means that some plugin you have on your files is ruining the offline bounce.
Mitchel, Thanks for your vids! I have a question, I turn off my normalizer when bouncing but my tracks are still significantly lower then normal. What should I do to fix this? thanks!
Sometimes if you are clipping at your output, the bounce will remove some of the volume by clipping the peaks of the signal during the bounce. If that isn't the problem, I'm not sure what could be the issue.
I've been using logic for a long time, since i upgraded to LPX the song file after bouncing on the same settings as before, mp3 320bit the song file is around 50mb and i have no idea why, a song is supposed to be like 8-18mb, anybody know whats going on?
what why liked the most is that u were very clear and quick to show what we need to know
Thanks, Mitch! I knew how to bounce, but it was helpful to have all the options in that section covered. Love your tutorials, man. Learning a lot!
DUDE, thank you so much. eye was rendering my tracks out like eye used too in garageband. now they sound so much better! much appreciated.
Just here wondering why you spell "I" like "eye"
Thanks, Mitch! Whenever I have a question about Logic and I see that you have a tutorial on it, I know I'll be smarter soon.
That's up to you. If you want the bounce to automatically extend until all audio is finished, then that would be the option you want to select.
if i only want to export wav can I uncheck the mp3 in destination?
+Lucid Soundz absolutely!
Mitchel Pigsley ok. thank you!
I would add that the dithering options are only for when lowering the resolution, for example from 24 bit to 16 bit.
As usual, a quality tutorial! Thanks!
By the way, M4A: AAC is Apple's Audio Codec, which is the native format for iPods, iTunes, etc... Some use it as the audio component for videos, but it's not strictly a video codec.
I can't find the sounds or audio files used though when I find the project file
Thank you for putting together a comprehensive and useable tutorial. You've earned yourself a new subscriber!!! TY again!
I finished bouncing it but can't open it again in Logic to master...it shows up in finder but I'm not able to open it. how does this work?
KaylaDawnMusic12 You need to open up a new LP project, then drag and drop or select it from the browser within LP.
+Mitchel Pigsley after I'm done mastering it, do I bounce it again?
Yesssir
hey mitch... what vocal chain do u use in order when mixing with wave bundle...?
When you bounce tracks is the volume level loud enough as a demo, or would you recommend what you did in your previous videos for Logic Pro 9, to export and then import the track to master and boost the volume?
How do you export the projext file itself with all the sounds for file sharing?
Compress the parent folder and then send the .zip
Thank you - I was wondering why it played while bouncing - Logic was crashing and it bounces real slowly when on realtime
Thanks for doing this. Super straight forward and to the point. Very much appreciated - time is a precious commodity that, if wasted can't be replaced. Subscribed.
Do you have the normalize option checked in your bounce preferences?
Thanks, this is great. Will it automatically include all the automations in the bounced file too ?
Sorry if someone pointed this out already, but I believe M4A:AAC is the apple audio format that's used as one of the options in downloading iTunes music. When that option is chosen, there are no options for video, just audio. Maybe there's some customization that's needed to bring up those options but it does seem that the M4A:AAC option is for audio only.
thank you! this is great. Can bouncing break an audio into tracks via marker?
Mitch, Thank you for your videos. Do you have a video that shows how to bounce down to a master?
I do not have a video on that specifically. I have failed you.
* cries in corner *
No, you've made my mediocre music a little less mediocre with your videos. This video greatly improved the sound of my music.
If you make one about the process of going from multiple tracks to a single master track let me know. I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos and they have greatly improved my technique. Thank you!

does sharing and bouncing in logic do the same thing? or is one better quality
Can you do a video on mixing the vocals down on logic x , for a hip hop song mitch...thanks
hey mitch i have come across this problem when i bounce a track even when i set my marker to the end of my song am getting a extra minute on it like a tail. do you known how come? hey an thank you for that tip
Thank you ! Beginning is hard, so happy You Tube exists !
Thank you Michel. i have learned so much from you man, you teach the kind of shit that they teach in audio schools for money. but you share that information with us for free man. God takes pleasure in blessing people like you.
Thanks Mitchel. whats the best format to convert a beat i made to record vocals?
Hey Mitch, I'm having trouble with the bouncing volume. The problem is on the MIX project, i bring the master volume down a little ( i know you recommend not to do that but it works for me) But once i bounce it, and import that file into another project (for mastering) the mix is still at the loud volume even though I lowered it... tq it was veryy usefull and plz can u show how to bouce atrack direactly to the same session
Do you include the audio tail when you bounce?
Nice review. Thank you.
And what i appreciate with your tuto is that i don't waste my time. Everything is clear and easy to understand. (and i don't speak english very well !!!). Go on ...
what is the difference in exporting all tracks as an audio file and bouncing them?
Mitch, I just did my first bounce using these techniques and then brought the WAVE file back into a new project to be the final master mix. This gave me a door slamming sound at the beggining of the track.
Why before I bounce a song it sound clear and loud after bounce I hear it on iTunes or where ever it sound really low Help???
Make sure neither your individual tracks or your output is clipping and make sure not to select normalize in the bounce preferences.
Mitchel Pigsley my songs got mixed already and sent to me but theyre a bit low compared to other songs.. Do u think i can just put it back into logic as one mp3 track and raise da master vol
Try to play it with QuickTime Player
this happened to me too
take normalise off
Great video! Thanks so much. I am very new at this and have one quick question; Do you bounce first to a wav and master or do you master then bounce to a wav? Thank you.
+Michael Grady You can do it either way. Normally I choose to master in the same project and then bounce afterword.
Mitch, when I export my track, it comes out all fuzzy and terrible in the mp3 file. Any idea what I did wrong?
I bet you are clipping in your project, which will turn out to be a very unnatural distortion sound. You will need to manage that to make sure you aren't clipping anywhere before bouncing.
Mitchel Pigsley

Hi! do you know how to bounce a song with the metronome click on it? thanks!
what about when the bounce extension is not staying on...When I bounce my mix to my desktop there is no sound when I play the bounced project
Thanks for this- I love the fast videos. I wish you could be a little more comprehensive with the options( you don't go over some so I have to find the answers elsewhere) but I love the information given
hi mitch my wife is recording some meditation vocals and i cant seem to get a noise free bounce?
What about bouncing some tracks or regions to a new track in Logic?
Good tutorial, I have 2 questions...can I combine multiple tracks( in this case vocals) into one track or bounced file...and secondly, how can I make sure effect plug ins are exported or bounced to the file?
Yes, you can solo out what tracks you want to bounce and then go through this interface to combine them. The plugins are automatically added to the track.

I would suggest mastering the file in your original project. Why are you wanting to bounce it into a new project?
Hey Mitch... I just bounced my project when i go to the bounce folder to open it, it will not open.... it's gray instead of solid black... do u have any idea why... Please help... thanks in advance....
can you please do a video on mixing from begging to end....... Oh & i love all of your Logic X tutorials so far
Hi Mitchel, when I bounce a mono track to my HD, when I open this track back into an other session the track is not mono anymore but stereo.

hey mitch can you change a stereo track to mono track in 10 as you can in logic 9
Do you mix tracks? Rap or RNB?
what if you unchecked the best encoding in the mp3? is it CBR by default?
should you have the "Include audio tail" on or off?
Hi, please could you make a video on how to cut parts of various songs in a one hour non stop mix and save all the various cut songs, thanks.
Mitch, how would you go about bouncing from a project that recorded at 48k to 44k mp3
I guess a realtime bounce is necessary when you're using external effect processing?
If you have mastered you're track, what is the best way to export it from logic?? is it best to bounce the output or export as an audio file??
You'll want to bounce it.
the sound of bounced folder is not like the the sound of logic pro x? when i play my songs on logic pro x, sounds great but when I bounce to the mp3 I think there's a volume problem because all sound is changing... Yes I'm doing right you, 320 ect...
How do i so when the track have a low volyme ? Please answer !!!
Thank you for all the tutorials! Please continue making Logic Pro X ones :D
Thank you I'm excited to finally get my friend to lay down some bass tracks for my upcoming album!
no matter what I do, my exported track is silent. I just spent 40 hours mixing a 2 hours project, including volume automation. The project plays perfect, but when I export (bounce) I get a completely silent track. A 2 hour, 300mb silent track. I don't know what else to do.

Try deselecting the normalize option in the bounce preferences.
Mitchel Pigsley I already did. I watched your tutorial
Cheers Mitchel. Always appreciated. You're a source of excellent education.
It now has the option to include tempo information. whats that all about?
OK how do you bounce it to an external hard drive "my passport"? it keeps telling me Read/write permission doesn't allow writing.. please help
Hey there! I am a newbie at all of this and just had a quick question. I have been using my Yamaha MOXF6 as an audio interface, sound module and midi-board. Gigi
Gigi Johnson Hmmm, try bouncing the project in real-time. Sometimes this can clear up some of those issues.
Mitchel Pigsley hey do you know why my volume decreases after i bounce it from logic pro?
Mitchel Pigsley I have tried in real time and I get the same results. do you think that maybe I hooked the MOXF up wrong?
I don't know your setup but it might be that the midi data is coming out of LP, into your MOXF, and never returning into LP.
Oh! Dang...you know how I can fix this?
U da man!!! THANKS!!! idk shit about this Program!!! do you have any more videos on how to things on LOGIC PRO X
Thanks!
Bill Whisman Hey Bill, have you mastered the track? Part of the mastering process is boosting the overall volume of the track.
is it possible to change a logic pro 10 file to a logic pro 9 file?
Im having an issue with bouncing audio tracks with software tracks. Every time I bounce off line and (off) normalize, 16 bit and @ 44100 s rate, the bounce happens but when I want to have the mp3 played there is no sound. Any suggestions?
hey it always bounces the volume so low compared to every other song
You'll need to go through the mastering phase.
select normalize in the bounce window
Normalize will adjust the volume based on the highest transient. If the mix is already clipping then this will make the overall volume decrease.
how to organize into sections like garageband (kind of small segments so that it is easy to focus)
How come my mp3 won't play? the wav does but neither will open in itunes..
hey my logic X is bouncing but not converting the project into mp3 what to do??? Help is needed!
Thank you. This was straight to the point and very helpful.
YO Bro! Thanks for the Vid! Def has been a big help as I was trying to figure out how to keep the volume of my songs at the same level when I bounced the track. THANKS!
hey man, how do you get the surround box option to light up so you can bounce you're audio out that way?
You'll need your output track to be in surround
haha! i figured it out! thank you. i realized i was able to get a much better sound quality and loudness out of the mastering when i bounced it out through the surround option. would that have anything to do with a better sound or do you think its a possibility i may have just mastered the overall track better than previous ones??
Unless you are purposely creating a track in surround, you should not use it. It might just be that you did a better master or the surround channel spaced your mix our wider.
ok ill take that into consideration. thanks for replying! i appreciate it. have a nice day.
The project itself is what you need to send. It's not called bouncing in this case. You will need a folder structure, then you can zip it up and send it.
If my overall mix has no clipping, would bouncing it without mastering and normalizing effect the volume?
If your individual tracks are clipping that could effect it.
Mitchel Pigsley Ok, thanks for clearing that up!
This was really well described, so thank ya
it have a overbass what do i need to do????
what is the surround bounce about?
Thank You so much!! One question.. what format (.mp3 / .wave ) do i need if i want to sell it on iTunes?!(: thanks again! xxx
p.s. i subscribed! xxx
You'll most likely want an mp3. I haven't sold on iTunes so I don't know exactly what they require.
Hi its really nice to see familiar faces ! Take care!!!
Mitchel,
Thanks for your vids!
You have officially saved my mixtape...thank you
i have a question! i m using logic pro 9 and when I bounce a track in logic, why is always so quiet?
It's quiet because your normalizing option is turned on. Whenever you access the bounce menu, make sure it is turned off.
-Jon
hey i just on check the tail on button mess with the markers on it is the same thing
Great video and great help! Thanks MP!
Can you please tell me how to post a project in youtube? Should I bounce it or what...?
I'm assuming you want it in mp3 so yes that is a bounce
Thanks! ;)
