From another 1st AC’s perspective. Above all else, I keep the top handle clean and unobstructed so that I can grab onto the camera from any angle.
Cable combo wrap is super clean. Love that idea. Any specific product you are using for that?
What's your top recommendations for Magic Arms/Israeli Arms. The ones I've deal with feel like I can just keep spinning them to tighten but they never "really" do. What's a recommendation for a small Magic Arm that really locks securely in place?
Noga Cine arm. Swear by it. If you can't afford an Arri arm. #ProTip at minimum get an arri locking interface for more positioning flexibility. Without it the 1/4"20 interface will always be the weakest point and force accessory to be positioned only between 12o'clock and 6o'clock. Righty tighty, lefty, loose expensive accessories flopping all over the place.
iFootage new arms are excellent. Super solid
ULCS are the best and modular!
Ultralight arms and the wooden camera double ball arms are great for monitors
why there is not two different operator in camera team, one touch the camera and second who only focus focus puller work. Because if you 1 camera assist do both work it takes time to training in focus puller work.
What happens if the camera doesn't power on. what steps do you take to fix that?
put it in rice
Put a battery on it.
- Check Battery Voltage
- Check Input voltage
- Check battery connector (on cam / bat)
- Check aux Power connector (on cam / connector)
- Check for ground
- Check power source for aux power (min voltage reached?)
- Try different cable / battery
- If camera is in boot loop call rental / on-site: let tech update firmware / reset
- to prevent damage that may cause components to fail:
When attaching SDI accessories:
Connect a power source to the SDI accessory; power on the SDI accessory.
Ensure a power source is connected to the camera.
This ensures both are grounded prior to connecting the BNC.
The camera's power state does not have an impact on SDI attachment sequence.
Connect the BNC cable to the accessory, then to the camera.
(Only use high-quality shielded cables)
