Christopher Lloyd as Kruge was one of the greatest casting decisions in all of the franchise.
RIP Leonard nimoy
Very true
I felt let down by ST3, but Christopher Lloyd was its saving grace.
If this were an actual trailer, I would say, "yes, this gives away too much of the movie." But as a fan-trailer, intended more as an exciting encapsulation of the film than as an actual teaser, its really fun.
Nailed it.
+milarc yep!
+76TomD that is true, most trailers give away too much.
Very true
Even the original theatrical trailer spoiled the destruction of the Enterprise.
This is actually a spectacular trailer cut.
agreed
The stealing of the Enterprise IHMO ranks as the best Star Trek scene of all time. Plus, Christopher Lloyd as the greatest Klingon portrayal.
i agree , , awesome
Lloyd was the greatest he just edges out Christopher Plummer from VI who was also great while Plummer was a Klingon elite Lloyd's Kruge was a devoted solldier so committed to his duty that he was willing to go outside the chain of command to defend it... He was the Klingon version of Kirk
I love that scene so much. No matter how many times I see it, the suspense is always there. Especially the Space Doors scene and the jump to Warp.
"Kirk, you do this you'll never sit in the captain's chair again."
"Warp speed."
WHOOSH!
To me, I only bought Lloyd as a Klingon when he was speaking Klingon. When speaking English, I was always expecting him to break into some Reverend Jim shtick. Especially when Kirk hailed him after the Enterprise is disabled: "Whaall! Then ya betta put him on screen!" That voice is just too distinctive. Now, if you talkin' John Colicos as Kor! For my cash, both the first AND the best Klingon, all time!
Yup. I think it's safe to say that Kruge and his crew set the bar for the rich character dynamics of the Klingons for the next 10 years.
I've always considered this movie as Shatner's best performance as Kirk. Great trailer, makes me want to watch it again.
Having worked with them for so many years, I think Nimoy really understood how to get a good performance out of Shatner.
@@AWriterWandering The whole idea of Shatner being a bad actor is really overplayed. My mom actually just texted me the other night and told me she watched the old Nuremberg movie where Shatner plays an assistant to a general. His rank, funnily enough, was captain. Anyway, she commented how talented of an actor he was and how he really played the role well. She even said that without or without Star Trek William Shatner would have been a star. I think Christopher Plummer said the same thing about him.
In TOS Shatner was fantastic. Yeah, in the the third season things got sloppy, but the show itself got sloppy as it was rushed and had major budget cuts. But Shatner played Kirk amazingly well in virtually all the movies. This idea that somehow Meyer and Nimoy were unique in their ability to get Shatner to act "properly" just doesn't jive with the fact that Robert Wise got an awesome performance out of Shatner, as did all the directors in TOS first season. Let alone other Shatner movies and TV show.
Lloyd was so awesome in this movie, a perfect Klingon villian.
A seriously underrated and unjustly maligned movie in my view.
MY top 5 in history. Brotherhood, friendship, mortality, and sheer defiance against what was once believed to be unrelenting forces. Such greatness. Such adherence to loyalty, across countless light years. And finally, redemption, at great cost. A truly Human saga.
@@KH4444444444N
Couldn't agree more. "The needs of the few can outweigh the needs of the many". The human need to look after those who cannot look after themselves is based on that.
Ha, that was my project when i worked at Columbia Pictures Video Services in the late 80's. Master came in with two armed guards and hand cuffs on the master. It was realeased to me for duplicaiton to VHS. Man I saw that movie like 1000 times.
An amazing trailer! You can never beat the classic Star Trek!
Star Trek Picard ist so much better then the classic Star Trek
@@davidjones-bh5xg You know, what you like speaks volumes about you as a person.
The most important thing to Kirk other than his crew was being the captain of the Enterprise. That scene where he chooses them, (Spock) knowing he will be courtmarshalled and loose it all, is one of his best scenes ever.
riiiiight
I added engine start-up sounds into this cut of the trailer so you could 'hear' that Kirk was just waiting for the engines to be ready before giving his command, never a hesitation.
Absolutly outstanding
Definitely a beautiful trailer. My favorite Star Trek movie out of all of them. The year it came out after it had its run in the main theater here, it went to the dollar theater that summer and I watched it at least 30 or 40 times.
Awesome! I think I like this one even more than the one you did for II. It's fun to try to pretend that I've never seen these movies while watching your trailers. You've shown SFS some much needed love. Many fans dislike this movie for various reasons, I always felt everything needed to happen (sadly, even the destruction of the Enterprise) the way it did to make it all plausible. The Genesis device would have become a political nightmare, starfleet would have been accused of making the perfect WMD (one which totally destroys, yet leaves not destruction, but perfectly useable resources and environments) , which would have made the politicians want no military presence anywhere in the sector until things could be smoothed over. No way starfleet would have just let Kirk, (who was involved with detonating the thing) get anywhere near it again, to do so would be a diplomatic disaster.
Add to that the entire theme of "you can't get something from nothing" Genesis created life from lifelessness, yet it took the death of many in Star Trek II, including Spock. Then in three Spock is revived, but Kirk still lost his son, and his ship. For everything gained, at least as much if not more was sacrificed.
A privateer Klingon who got wind of the device and decided to take on trying to steal it TOTALY makes sense. And I'm sorry, but Mr. Lloyd made for a PERFECT dishonorable Klingon. Not all Klingons were "pip-pip, honor-first worf-like" some were just after their own personal glory. We even saw this in TNG with Dumas clan...
Star Trek III has it's plot holes, yes. But what it got right, far outweighs what it got wrong.
Good work on this trailer.A number of things I think could change but, great work!
This is AWESOME! When does this movie come out? :-)
Well, the 2nd film is having 40th anniversary showings this year so I suspect this one will be coming in '24 or earlier depending upon interest.
This is absolutely the best thing ever posted to youtube.
I don't say that lightly.
Thank you. :)
It wasn't until I watched this that I realized just how important the line from the Excelsior's commander is: "Kirk, if you do this...you'll never sit in the Captain's Chair again."
After everything he did in The Motion Picture, essentially stealing the ship out from under Decker, it's an amazingly powerful performance when you notice that the way he plays it is that there's no hesitation. For one of the few times in his life, Kirk really doesn't care about the ship.
EXACTLY. Thank you for this.
Between sacrificing his friend and First Officer, and his starship, the _USS Enterprise,_ circumstances demanded that he had to choose one OR the other.
i always liked the irony of hearing that line WHILE Kirk is literally starting to sit in the chair.
Star Trek III was the second Star Trek film I ever saw. I saw TMP first, than TSFS.
It's probably my favorite of the Trek films for a lot of reasons, but... This trailer actually really captures what I love about the film. It's about a friendship, and the distance a group of friends will go for one of their own.
OpenMawProductions mine was TWOK. REMEMBER
I agree to the max. Watched it to many times in to many languages. But in the end it’s so human.
I'm not crying You're crying!!
What a chilling trailer, I love it! Thank you so much for sharing with us
great work man!!
"Of all the souls I have encountered..." I cannot hear this and not think of Stewie Griffin saying it :D
You did this...?!?! That's FANTASTIC...!!! Extraordinary....!! Awesome...!!!
This one is very underrated movie. Always been one of my favourites. From the childhood remembered as one that destroyed the Enterprise. Legendary scene.
Seriously, you need to take this trailer back in time.
One of the best trek ever no matter what fellas say.....
The Learner THE best as far as I’m concerned
The Learner Love this film. Think it’s easy to forget how special these films were when they were first released, and what a thrill it was to to have the original cast back and on the big screen.
Dean Willetts and I think this film showed the camaraderie of the crew better than any other
Love this, great editing & music score. TSFS is an often underated film. Hope you make one for The Undiscovered Country
The Adventure Continues In The 30th Anniversary Of STAR TREK 3 THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK!
Beautiful! A reminder that even without all the flashy effects and wildness (and lens flare) of today's films, this one still has a story that can beat them all. :D
fireflynovember I've got to admit something. I liked the new films. Well, I like the first reboot over Into Darkness, but yeah... They're great sci-fi movies, even if not great Star Trek films. It's just a new storyline to follow, much in the way that TNG came into the fold. Also, I think it says a lot about a director if the only thing people complain about is the lens flare. His movies aren't terrible (well, Into Darkness...), it's just his artistic style.
Really? I think it's a better reminder that a cleverly cut trailer with the right background music can make even an awful film look exciting.
I disagree, I find this movie to be one of the best odd numbered Trek films.
It’s extremely well done but gives too much away.
Just like most trailers today, it gives away the whole movie.
Kevin Ryan Watch the trailers for films of the 1960s and 1970s. You'll see what "giving away the movie" means.
***** IT'S PEOPLE! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!
The original Trailer gave away a lot too. Including the biggest surprise of the film, the destruction of The Enterprise.
GhostbustersFan77 Agreed... Even funnier, this shows a lot more but puts it in a dramatic sense that still ellicits curiosity. The real trailer was pretty on the nose with how most of it went down. Like a summary of the film.
It celebrates the movie that we’ve already seen
Star Trek 3 is underrated. I always enjoying watching this movie when I come across it.
What was the soundtrack to this trailer. Great job BTW!
Oh goodie another Star Trek trailer remake, LOVE IT, keep them coming......
Now THIS is a great movie trailer !
Take away the Spock and Kirk scenes in the first few seconds of the trailer and this is just about perfect!
Great trailer... but it gives away the entire movie.... showing Kirk and spock together spoiled it... this is more of a post movie review trailer:) really great though:)
This is actually a really good movie and a great middle act between 2 and 4. And this trailer is amazing.
This is masterfully done, the music, the edits, the quotes, simply amazing.
This trailer makes me think that Star Trek III must be the best Star Trek movie ever, by a long shot.
I also disagree with most people about it giving too much of the movie away, the editing is very good for switching around parts of the movie to lead viewers astray, also the fact that some of it is replaying TWOK also mitigates a bunch. I really can't piece much of the actual movie together from this (and I know it fairly well).
Thanks man, that's awesome to hear!
Wow...very well done!
I remember when this movie came out the original trailer was nothing like this this trailer is quite good of course to me the saddest moment of all the Star Trek history and the movies was the loss of the Enterprise. its like watching a best friend die.
Another good one.
these are so FUCKING cool i cant stop watching
Wonderful!
Very well done!!!!
Wow. Just... Wow.
A beautifully edited tribute to a very underrated entry.
Holy moly, this sent chills up my spine. This was the 1st Star Trek movie I was old enough to see in the theaters. You did a fan-tastic job
Thanks man
MARTY! All you have to do is hit warp 8.8, and have a little plutonium! Then you can go back in time and stop your son from creating "genesis". Just as long as you can generate 1.21 jigawatts. (Marty: "It's pronounced GIG-a-watts Doc. :)
CHILLS!
Fire🔥
How Good that I bought all six Movies on VUDU To watch them whenever I want
Bravo!
Star fleet best crew! Friends & Family! The ending is great! YOUR NAME IS JIM! 🖖🏾nicely done!😎
2:13 -'he would have found a way..if there was that much at stake..spock WOULD have found a way...' 'yes, but how?'.... 'Remember..'*all to Tron like score*
A lot of fun. I am old enough to remember when the film was released and any and all footage of the boy Spock and the older Spock were completely hidden from view during the promotions. But this is a fun video.
Excellent Trailer! Just watched the 4K Steelbook and this trailer is everything!
This is a very good updated trailer! There's only one problem. It's too long.
Way too many spoilers for a trailer. Remember when making a trailer, the job is to "entice", not tell the whole story.
STAR TREK 3 THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK 40TH ANNIVERSARY!
1984-2024!
Fun to watch! 👍But it works better for a viewer who's already seen the film, and it might give too much away to those who prefer more mystery and suspense. And dare I say, it might also over-hype younger crowds with shorter attention spans for dialogue.
How many fingers am I holding up?
I have to tell everyone....and I know I'm not alone....but for those of us who were there...in that netherworld of syndication and trek conventions the movies that preceded the airing of the TNG in 87 were our life's blood.
Commander Kruge the only foe with the daring to call Kirk's bluff good job
Good trailer (though I would have not shown the destruction of the enterprise as that would have been a good plot twist, (the trailers in the 80s were so bad because they focused on showing all the action while giving away the ENTIRE story)
YOU DID it sir you absolutely did it. My only bit of one sided advice would be to let the trailer commentary reduce at about the 1:40 mark.
This makes me want to watch the movie a 423rd time.
I agree with a lot of the comments that say, while this is masterfully done, it may reveal too much. All it really needed as a tease was that last bit with Sarek and Kirk about Spock finding a way and then watching the computer log.
🖖🏻 10/10 my favourite of the original trilogy
Ironically, the destruction of the Enterprise was shown in the original trailer for the movie. Many considered it to be a reason the movie didn't do so well. They gave up the surprise.
Kirk: You suffering from a mind meld, doctor
Bones: That green blooded son of a bitch. This is his revenge for all those arguments he lost.
😆
The 1st 2 sec. Of the trail ruined the movie. (Yes I know it is an old movie I have seen it 100 times)
And on top of that you showed the Enterprise destruction.
One of those should have stayed out of the trailer
This was amazing!
magnificent trailer, very good job !!! i want review this movie again !!!!
This is probably the best I have ever seen that film look. I like the movie, but this trailer actually makes me want to see it again.
These folks are simply a gift to Star Trek fans. I am grateful for your skills and passion!
While LOOKING & SOUNDING like a "modern" trailer, I hate to say the only thing "modern" about it is being on par with "Terminator Genisys" in SPOILING every single plot point of the movie.
This WOULD, however, make a decent trailer for the DVD/Bluray/4k. (Watch those trailers for Terminator 2 advertising the home release, just as spoiler-happy; but for home release, they already have seen it in the theater.)
If the original St3 trailer enraged producer Harve Bennett, THIS one would've gave him a heart attack haha
So...you're saying its a modern trailer. Thank you.
WELL done sir
I heard that this Enterprise has a Flux Capacitor 2.0 that makes it doubly bad ass. 😎
if this was a Movie trailer.. it gives away too much.. but as a fan trailer its awesome!
This goes to show that Jar Jar Abrams movies suck. Story is King.
They say that the odd-numbered films are rubbish, but this is one of the better ones.
DAMN!!!!! THIS IS OFF THE CHAIN SPECTACULAR!!! WELL DONE!!
This brought me to tears. Thank you.
Can't give enough thumbs up for that edit!!
An amazing trailer. The best I've seen!
Gorgeous. Gorgeous!
Why do the editors of these remasteted trailers ALWAYS pot up their nusic too high? It drowns out a lot of dialogue.
Go to hell, Tom.
Fucking JJ, too much action. Oh wait...
This fan trailer gives away too much but it still makes me want to see the movie. Nice work.
Spoiled it showing the enterprise exploding. But nice.
I weep almost every time I get to see Kirk's eulogy...😞🌹
dam how good was 1984 for movies, its seem a golden year, every movie made in that year has something very awesome in it
wow, absolutely awesome actualization!!!
Showing the destruction of the Enterprise was a mistake the official trailer made.
So was Spock's death leaked when The Wrath of Khan was being made. They didn't show that in the trailer. In fact, Meyer deflected that rumor by having Spock "die" in the simulation at the beginning.
When I 1st saw the enterprise explode in the commercial I assumed that it must be something that was in a simulation Within the movie.... I did not think they would actually blow up the enterprise but the commercial With the enterprise exploding peaked my interest to go see it.
1:52 Kirk should have said "This is more important than a chair."
awesome work.... will you be doing the other movies as well
i saw this when it came out in the theater when i was a little kid...back when they allowed smoking in the theater.
Star trek III is only is only slightly better that Star Trek V
These trailer's he has created blow away the original one's and make me want to see the movies all over again
i saw no future, only death
This is way better than original trailer
