Playing a floodgate doesn't make your deck a stun deck. A stun deck is a deck that focuses on floodgates as a win condition, if every deck that had floodgates in it was a stun deck pretty much every competitive deck from the past couple of years would be a stun deck since you pretty much always at least sidedeck some floodgates.
3 SDs and a Rivalry is close enough to actual Runick Stun (obviously can't play TCBOO and Gozen in this iteration). You do what you gotta do since it's EUWCQ but still this is way closer to a stun deck than a White Forest deck.

I played this yesterday at my locals and I enjoyed it. For my build, I ran three Astellar and only one Rucia. After watching your take on them, I’ll have to adjust my ratios. I will admit, I got Impermed and Ashed on Astellar and it was rough. I only ran two Hugin and one Geri. I will agree a third Hugin and at least a second Geri would make a difference. I stopped playing Runick after Baronne got wiped off the planet as I really like Runick Bystial. However, this combo variant is a lot of fun. Nicely done on the top 64 too. 👍

This is definitely unrealistic, but I wish we had more time. The time control we currently have means that burn effects become a problem, especially when it's built into the combo like with Fiendsmith. But it's worse than that. If you need to pay LP as a part of your engine, all of a sudden you can't without risking losing to time. This encourages you to play for a draw, which again, isn't really playing the game. Like I've been playing Purrely recently and I realised I can't activate My Friend in many game 3s if the games have taken too long, not to mention that I feel like even if cosmic cyclone has a rlly positive match up, like against runick stun for example, I feel like I can't side it in because of the time control. Either way, really cool list and congrats for top 64 finish
Been play testing your ratios since you dropped your list. I found cutting the 3rd Rucia for 1 Astellar. And the 3rd TTT for the Veiler. Its felt reasonable so far. Astellar at 1 lets it still be searchable of needed and still lets you use ur normal summon for silvy. You can also pitch with hugin effect and special it from grave as an extender from the Rciela effect, and still use the astellar effect then once opponent has burned through interruptions. This also still keeps runick count to 18
I was recommended Runick/WF recently, and I'm pretty excited to try it. It's been so long since I played the game and it's crazy just how much this thing can do from its opening hand.
Hey Josh, since you are playing White Forest, I’d suggest grabbing the 2 Magistus synchros and Link. They’re like $0.50 all together. White Forest makes it pretty dang easy to lock out your opponent from synchro and link effects.

In case you don’t know what I mean, you can add Magistus Crowley to your main deck and search it with the link while it’s attached to Zorua. You make Muddy Mudragon and use Crowley as the dark monster to fuse into Caliga. You can 2 card combo into Zorua and Mudragon with Astellar and any spell, but you need another spellcaster either in hand or on field from other methods to get Crowley on the field to use as fusion material.

Shoutouts to Astellar for being a cheerleader in the sidelines. Edit: I do like Astellar in the deck though. She might not be the best starter, but I find 9 ways to access a tuner way too little, I don't understand how you do it and open one consistently. Also if you happen to draw her, a lv 4 White Forest and a Runick, you can just discard her for Hugin and bring her back for free later, you don't need to start playing by using her effect.
9 tuners + if you don't draw a tuner you'll most likely either cycle with fountain, draw skill drain and stall out the opponent or do like trap pass which is decent.

Did you ever try to work out a version that also plays bystials? level 4 tuners combo well, regained recycling could let you drop the runick names in the ED, and bystials are just so good vs the fiendsmith cards that I think it might have merritt but haven't tested it myself yet im just a bystial runick lover who wants to play with regained again 😢
i really liked your point of cutting astellar. thats also how i feel about her, like most scenarios elzette is the better card, unless youre like full gas uninterrupted combo. one thing i did want to ask is how you fel about other versions like: pure, centurion, fiendsmith, millenium and so on?

So one of the important things about this deck that maybe you tangentially mentioned but didn't explicitly explain is that playing heavily into runick in this variant plays around shifter. The white forest cards can't really function under shifter so playing heavily into the runick cards ensures you at least can set up a decent board going first under shifter.

However, I am not entirely sure why you’d pick this over the Bystial build - it feels like the Bystial version has a lot more inherent disruption potential and certain simply stronger main deck cards. Is it because there is more room for runick cards and because the extra deck feels stronger? Or because it’s simply more consistent? Also can you elaborate on why you don’t think Fiendsmith Snake Eyes is the best deck (considering pure Snake Eyes was)?
Great decklist. Imo though, I do think Artemis is an important enough card to edge out the close games that I would try and fit it, maybe over Typhon. It's hard, I think dropping Astellar is right, I even ran it at 1 in my trashy White Forest Bystial Runick version. 18-19 spell is definitely right, I felt that at 16. I fit Synchro Zone in side because no multcharmy, and that was good since you have to alternate your skill drains each time you remove them, so a synchro zone can bridge you to the next one in many games. Wish you could have won, maybe these cards will make it in time for Master Duel worlds!
Question, would you consider Multi-Universe + Krishnerd for Runick WF? The Idea is to use Munin + a WF tuner to make AFD and get Multi-Universe by popping Fountain which enables **Eternity** . - Multi-Universe eff, recover fountain. - Keep going with the normal plays until Diabell recovers Multi-Universe. - Now Fountain is too hard to get rid of permanently (unless they banish Universe OR Fountain gets banished facedown). Krishnerd is just there as a pseudoextender that can recycle a monster in GY or banishment after any field uses its activated effect. Another thing the AFD line enables is being able to summon Crystal Wing (veiler), level 9 or 11 Synchros, and helps you win in time.
I mean it's kinda funny when you get coin flipped by mathmech or stun in Master Duel. But when you played against Runick Stun on stream this weekend that shit had me dying 🤣 Like you literally got streamsniped and trolled irl. Was a good match though!
There it is, even Josh admitted that Runick/Stun is the best Runick version! I would've played less White Forest monsters and put a small Bystial engine in this deck. Alone to get access to Dis Pater and Omega and to loop them around. A one - off Broomy would've helped a lot because this card can special summon any monster from the hand by banishing itself and you get it back with Dis Pater.
could probably play 1 vieler as its searchable, the goat trap that you can banish from gy to stop monster effects of a monster to call is really good, as you can call apo etc going 2nd and hit their engine goin first. Satelite warrior is good for 2-3 pops and i like magistus extra deck package to lock your opp out of links/snychros/fusions.
I was trying this deck with Lancea and the General Raiho of the Ice Barrier, sidedecking the Mediun of the Ice Barrier agains decks like Runick Stun and Rescue-Ace. Both Ice barriers are not bricks because you can discard them for Hugin, Medium can summon herself and you can tribute summon the General if you want to. You make Lancea with the Coral Dragon and Geri. What do you think about it? Its a good idea because I have the cards and I'm not sure if I'm gonna use it for Mexico Regional. I love your videos btw, I have learn a lot. XD

for runick synchro piles do you think Gizmek Uka has potential to be main or side decked? with the prevalence of Fiendsmith Uka can summon any of the Ecclesia variants from the deck to ensure you start with access to one of your tuners with a lv 7 body. Uka can summon incredible to best play around Engraver trying to out the body you summon since you can just tag into albaz and fuse into albion to possibly end on mirror jade on the opponents first turn. making it very hard for them to set up a good board.

Two cards i found great in testing are chicken game and terraforming. They are very simple way to draw one and then use them as cost

It's hard, I think dropping Astellar is right, I even ran it at 1 in my trashy White Forest Bystial Runick version. 18-19 spell is definitely right, I felt that at 16. I fit Synchro Zone in side because no multcharmy, and that was good since you have to alternate your skill drains each time you remove them, so a synchro zone can bridge you to the next one in many games.
Wish you could have won, maybe these cards will make it in time for Master Duel worlds!

Question, would you consider Multi-Universe + Krishnerd for Runick WF? The Idea is to use Munin + a WF tuner to make AFD and get Multi-Universe by popping Fountain which enables **Eternity** .
- Multi-Universe eff, recover fountain.
- Keep going with the normal plays until Diabell recovers Multi-Universe.
- Now Fountain is too hard to get rid of permanently (unless they banish Universe OR Fountain gets banished facedown).
Krishnerd is just there as a pseudoextender that can recycle a monster in GY or banishment after any field uses its activated effect.
Another thing the AFD line enables is being able to summon Crystal Wing (veiler), level 9 or 11 Synchros, and helps you win in time.
I mean it's kinda funny when you get coin flipped by mathmech or stun in Master Duel.
But when you played against Runick Stun on stream this weekend that shit had me dying 🤣

I would've played less White Forest monsters and put a small Bystial engine in this deck. Alone to get access to Dis Pater and Omega and to loop them around. A one - off Broomy would've helped a lot because this card can special summon any monster from the hand by banishing itself and you get it back with Dis Pater.

could probably play 1 vieler as its searchable, the goat trap that you can banish from gy to stop monster effects of a monster to call is really good, as you can call apo etc going 2nd and hit their engine goin first. Satelite warrior is good for 2-3 pops and i like magistus extra deck package to lock your opp out of links/snychros/fusions.

I was trying this deck with Lancea and the General Raiho of the Ice Barrier, sidedecking the Mediun of the Ice Barrier agains decks like Runick Stun and Rescue-Ace.
Both Ice barriers are not bricks because you can discard them for Hugin, Medium can summon herself and you can tribute summon the General if you want to.
You make Lancea with the Coral Dragon and Geri.
What do you think about it? Its a good idea because I have the cards and I'm not sure if I'm gonna use it for Mexico Regional.

for runick synchro piles do you think Gizmek Uka has potential to be main or side decked? with the prevalence of Fiendsmith Uka can summon any of the Ecclesia variants from the deck to ensure you start with access to one of your tuners with a lv 7 body. Uka can summon incredible to best play around Engraver trying to out the body you summon since you can just tag into albaz and fuse into albion to possibly end on mirror jade on the opponents first turn. making it very hard for them to set up a good board.
