Total admiration. And, I love the narrative. My sons used to talk themselves through an adventure wen they were little guys. "Okay, Jimmy, now the soldier hides behind the garage."
I met Steve about a year ago while he was Stealth Camping a park like strip of land on the Turnpike. Truly an exciting guy 🏴☠️ I'm a VAN CAMPER and his seasoned ways are REAL 🥊
The wind , with 20 mph gust, was cold and relentless as I walked 75 north through Detroit. My objective was Northern mich but fatigue was taking its toll and decided I needed sleep, but the expressway I was walking offers nothing but concrete. Totally exhausted I came across an over pass. The only place out of the cold wind ,I found, was between the bridge colum and the guardrail, between two lanes of traffic. After awhile I could hear a roar, not from the traffic going by but from the crowd at Comerica Park. Tiger stadium! Never been there but listened to many of the games. I count that in the top 10 of my childhood adventures. Thanks Steve. You are a survivor.
Hey, Steve.. Im from the state of Illinois here in America, and have experienced homelessness.. In witch being Stealthy had a Large involvement being in that situation.. And, i wanted to say i appreciate your time creating this videos.. Showing how to camp properly in tight quarters.. Thank u, Steve.. Stay Safe Out Their..
Hey bro... I experienced the same thing at 18 years old. 2 years later I have my own place with a good job and I’m playing guitar everyday and even have a little band. Good luck brother it will get better. I’m an insanely nervous pushover, yet I somehow made it so I’m sure anyone could. Hope all is well for you and give an update if you ever see this.
"I'm just gonna caaaaasually..." *takes off running* And don't worry about expired MREs. Shame it didn't work. Another Steve would like to speak with you.
I'm imagining Friday morning the security guys are all hovering around watching videos of the night before, when one yells out "Hey, isn't this that Hunker-down guy in our parking lot"?
As we were watching this I realized you were just down the road from us. I told my husband "Look honey, Steve found a good place for you to camp out the next time we have a fight." He didn't see the humor in it. We always look forward to your videos.
These are the 'bread & butter' (so to speak) type of videos that got me hooked on 'Campin with Steve'. Good to see a good ol fashioned stealthy 'hunker down'.
i know this is a bit old, but some info about the mres! i spent about a decade training and fighting in cold weather environments and i always found that if mres are stored for a long period of time in tight packed cold environments (like a connex for a few months) it worked wonders to kind of knead to water into the sachet inside of the flameless ration heater. seems like the chemicals get compressed into a cake and dont allow enough surface area for the water to interact with the chemicals.
I was wondering about if he ever has been caught. I was leaning towards no. Thanks for clarifying. I just started watching his channel. Really enjoy it.
Was a manager at Depot for 10 yrs...they could care less that you're there as long as you don't bother anybody. They almost certainly don't own the land past that fence.
That was my take on this video, too. The security cameras must have caught him going into the woods with the backpack, coming out without it and heading in the direction of the pub, going back in, and coming out in the morning with the pack. Doesn't take a genius to know he's camping there overnight.
Steve i been watching your channel for a very long time now. Thank you for all you do. I just lost my leg do to health issues. I'm very proud of you please keep making these videos. You may not see this but I hope you do . Praying for you always brother

Spuce Grove boy here! This is my home town. My fiance worked at that home depot for two years. Lol, lots of people actually camp in there, believe it or not. Keep up the good work repping the 780, Steve!!
When using old chemical heaters of dubious effectiveness, dump the packet of salt into the heater pre-water, then wait 30 mins. The salt will help make the entree hot AF.
Ayo Steve! Trick to those flameless ration heaters is to bend and flex that paper part inside the plastic, sort of fold it back and forth a bunch of different ways and crap. Also, once you got the water and the stuff in the bag, give it two good folds at the top and give it a shake or two. Should activate it and get it hot!
You can boil water by filling the beverage bag and placing the beverage bag carefully inside the flameless heater. You can heat anything in a flameless heater and they are often hot enough to do two entrees or and entree and a dessert. Fun facts that might save your life.
"I'm thirsty!" Steve proceeds to Rehydrate with Beer. Old reliable H2O is only good for heating up MRE's 😁🤣 got my hunker down fix today. Thanks Steve!

@@Meeeeee900 Yeah but these are usually just loss prevention. They don't patrol at night. Especially in suburbs like where I worked. There was nobody working but loading crew after 10pm
We have them in California. Most useless things ever. Had someone steal a truck bed full of generators. They called 911 and the “security guard” sent the deputies away because it’s the HD official policy to not cooperate with law enforcement. If it was an isolated incident I would have thought it was just the one moron but it’s every time. Call 911 for the shoplifter/theft then refuse to give the security footage or let your employee give a statement.
It's not so much security "guards" in the way we might think of guards standing outside a bank vault, but a contracted security company that looks after the alarm system, and responds to them being triggered, and will often do a drive by a couple of times in the night to be sure everything is as it should be.
I stumbled across your videos just this evening. I've been watching them for the last few hours now. Brought back so many memories of my own when I was evicted from my apartment or ostracized from family due to my alcohol addiction. Curiously, I never considered it anything more than the next challenge. I never got involved with the police until I was discovered and charged with trespassing on two occasions at the same location. If you want an adventure this is it! Take care.
This guy is hilarious. His river trip with crazy neighbor is the best. However, be advised tens of thousands are camping behind the Home Depot in Imperial Beach, CA alone. No lie.
I just happened across your channel and it fascinates me. You must not have many homeless people. As a formerly homeless person, used to camping out in the city, of course not as prepared as this. But now that I'm no longer homeless this looks like fun. Here in Colorado Springs, CO you could actually camp for a week before the hot team (police) run you out of your camping spot. The lessons you learn as a homeless person never leave ya...lol
steve as a home depot worker myself I can give u some tips on camping the weekends are the best for sneaking around home depot because on the weekdays we have people working overnight espicially on truck days making noise isnt really too much of a problem because they typically play music in the reciving area while they unload the truck if people are in the back there either a lumber associate moving wood or concreeate or something an ofa cuz sometimes they store orders outside or a person on a smoke break u really just gotta watch the people on smoke breaks cuz the other 2 are typicaly working and are prob driving forklifts so there distracted but the amount of people i see back there just smoking and staring at the woods is crazy so def watch for them

Good one.
Beat me too it lol.
Nice hiss!
"Let's get this on to a tray.....nice"

Total admiration. And, I love the narrative. My sons used to talk themselves through an adventure wen they were little guys. "Okay, Jimmy, now the soldier hides behind the garage."
You should start leaving calling cards at local businesses where you’ve camped saying “You’ve been Hunkered Down by Steve” 😊
🤣
"For a nominal fee, I'll refrain from doing it again. We accept Bitcoin.""
I love that idea!
Yes. Lol
That would be awesome! I live by him and would totally do it
A half hour stealther from Steve?
Can’t get any better than this
At 2:26 all I could think was "These carts are public domain, Ricky!"
Bang on!

Fuck!
I met Steve about a year ago while he was Stealth Camping a park like strip of land on the Turnpike. Truly an exciting guy 🏴☠️ I'm a VAN CAMPER and his seasoned ways are REAL 🥊
Yes! I want to see Steve camping in a display shed outside of Home Depot/ Lowe's/ Ace Hardware.
Good one!
I don't know why but i love when he cooks/eats while camping. It makes me enjoy the journey more and the videos.
Well what’s he supposed to do idiot? Not eat or drink? It’s a human function. Everyone does it. Relax.
"I'm just gonna caaaaasually..."
*takes off running*
And don't worry about expired MREs. Shame it didn't work. Another Steve would like to speak with you.
@Jojo Biscuit Lol. I wanna see "Camping with..." whoever the hell was camping near him.
Nice!
The mre made me think we need another collab with another Steve!
@J.P. Menger nice hiss

Pretty sure there are cameras on the back - they probably just say there's another homeless guy. Harmless.
I'm imagining Friday morning the security guys are all hovering around watching videos of the night before, when one yells out "Hey, isn't this that Hunker-down guy in our parking lot"?
Maybe Steve gave the security people a head’s up??
They say "oh look its Steve he's stealthing again
As we were watching this I realized you were just down the road from us. I told my husband "Look honey, Steve found a good place for you to camp out the next time we have a fight." He didn't see the humor in it. We always look forward to your videos.
Ha i did that once during winter and it suck.

If he suggested that you camp there next time you fight, would it be funny to you?
@@aaronfischer9885 yes. Because I would know he was joking. He doesn’t go camping anywhere without me 😉

So funny lol
he couldn't look more suspicious if he tried
Kinda surprised that loud ass MRE packaging didn't alert the entire city to where he was.
In another world, Steve would be a homeless person, but in this world, he is the greatest stealth camper in the world. Good work Steve!

I’ve been watching for a couple years now. Still have yet to see Steve get “caught”. This man is undefeated
Does he cheat and the caught videos don't get put up?
I was wondering about if he ever has been caught. I was leaning towards no. Thanks for clarifying. I just started watching his channel. Really enjoy it.

Was a manager at Depot for 10 yrs...they could care less that you're there as long as you don't bother anybody. They almost certainly don't own the land past that fence.
That was my take on this video, too. The security cameras must have caught him going into the woods with the backpack, coming out without it and heading in the direction of the pub, going back in, and coming out in the morning with the pack. Doesn't take a genius to know he's camping there overnight.
@@kateyare4708 Security cameras are rarely being manned 24 hours a day. They usually only look at them if something happens.
but the landowners of the property might/ could have had issues with homeless in the past. there is always the risk of police raids/survelilance

When using old chemical heaters of dubious effectiveness, dump the packet of salt into the heater pre-water, then wait 30 mins. The salt will help make the entree hot AF.

Steve goes to pub. Meanwhile, his MRE heater got hot then cooled down again LOL
He ain’t read your comment lol
You look much happier than in old videos. I'm happy to see it! Also you seem more relaxed in videos lately.
You can boil water by filling the beverage bag and placing the beverage bag carefully inside the flameless heater.
You can heat anything in a flameless heater and they are often hot enough to do two entrees or and entree and a dessert.
Fun facts that might save your life.
Here in Washington state you can camp on the sidewalk no need to hide anymore
Oh shoot! He'd get some electric from a business and be the only bum with AC.

Steve, do you ever find yourself going to a stealth location and there already is someone there?
Yep, I've had to cancel a couple videos because of that. Most other campers prefer to be left alone. Actually there was someone already in one of the first abandoned gas stations I tried to do.

The fact that this guy's channel is successful somewhat restores my faith in humanity. Hes such a genuine guy who basically conveys that there are simpler ways of life than doing the rat race.

Ive worked for Home Depot for 18 years the back cameras are aimed at entrances the dock doors back entrance etc.
I wonder if he going to joint the day labor crowd.
Must be a Canadian thing never heard of Home Depot security guards
There is security guard in HD. Uniformed ones (LP) and plain dressed. All HD have those.

These videos can help us if we ever find ourselves in a situation where we need them or hide.. Learn while you can!
Meant to say to hide.
Life in the woods with some cold ones can't be better than this.
The lessons you learn as a homeless person never leave ya...lol
steve as a home depot worker myself I can give u some tips on camping the weekends are the best for sneaking around home depot because on the weekdays we have people working overnight espicially on truck days making noise isnt really too much of a problem because they typically play music in the reciving area while they unload the truck if people are in the back there either a lumber associate moving wood or concreeate or something an ofa cuz sometimes they store orders outside or a person on a smoke break u really just gotta watch the people on smoke breaks cuz the other 2 are typicaly working and are prob driving forklifts so there distracted but the amount of people i see back there just smoking and staring at the woods is crazy so def watch for them
Can we just take a moment to acknowledge the amount of editing his videos must take..

Hey Steve if you want to walk into random woods without people giving a second glance just act like you're going for a leak.
Similarly when leaving the woods you should wipe your hands on something like you've just had one
Or get those funny poles that hard-core hikers have and then you look like a dedicated hiker and no one question you.
