Rule 9. Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don't
1.
- Do not rush.
- Emphasis important words.
- Use pauses between words to hold attention
- Remove the fear of losing sb’s interests or getting cut off -> say effortlessly -> finish your thought
2.
- Not allow others to derail u from saying something important (1st interruption)
- If sb repeatedly interrupts you, call it out while remaining calm (no yelling)
- If sb just messes around, allow them to interrupt
- (Not direct way) Pause! Agree. Continue your own thought
3.
Share your honest thoughts even if pp might not like them (save your self-esteem)
- your own motivations for doing things (even if u don’t like it)
- call people out on their bad behavior (then empathize it by your story. I’m not perfect)
- Share your opinion on topics you feel passionate about (politics, religion)
+ Proactively address your potential misunderstandings. Answer their objections

My greatest takeaway from this video is the fact that when you honestly voice out what you think, you become a magnet: people that resonate with what you’re saying and believe in your values will come closer to you while those that don’t believe in what you have to say will go away from you. This is such an important thing to realise because if you don’t do this, you become a people pleaser and basically have no personality of your own. As a result, when you don’t have an authentic and interesting personality, people don’t find you interesting and hence you don’t build long-lasting healthy relationships with people of same interests and values as you and your life is boring as hell.

When I first saw the video I thought I was gonna end up losing respect for him, which wasn't the case at all, and Joe also redeemed himself with interview number 2, great to see adults acting like adults.

First time really listening to him, and I caught that exchange. Immediately made me realize that holy crap… he’s not just some hunter/fighter tool bag.. he’s incredibly emotionally mature. He gained a new fan in me, that’s for sure. Glad I’m not the only one who also caught that little gem in him!

Damn. This video is reminding me how important it is to stay cool, calm, and collected when confronting someone. Raising my voice and speaking too quickly is usually followed by an argument. I usually mean what I say but don't say what I mean. Remembering to slow down will help me choose my words more wisely.
It's usually in your tone. Before it happens. Suddenly accent becomes sharp. That void of energy that surrounds you. If want me to point some characteristics.
Don't get too attached to ANYONE. if their a best friend?? Their only best friend for so long. And dumped again.
Sometimes though there sad truths need to admit to. The respects lost due to loss. Remains invisible. So need to work on that. If you've suffered lost then youve suffered respect/recognition because of that.
Increase your energy/vibe. Perhaps diplomacy is best way to discharge any unfortunate vibes. Perhaps if someone is negative, then you need to parry that (or inverse mirror that with positive).
Time to grow up. And realise friend have is just a friend. It's time to let them go too.
4 ways to command more respect in conversation
1. Do not rush. Place emphasis on important words. Use pauses between words to hold attention
*avoid fear that you won't get to finish your thought if you make pauses
2. Do not allow other people to derail you from saying something important
*If someone repeatedly interrupts you call it out while remaining calm
*Pause, agree, continue your original thought
*acknowledge what is being said then return to completing your point
3. Share your honest thoughts even if you know some people might not like them
*Three areas of proactive honesty that instantly gets more people to like you:
A - Your own motivations for doing things (people pretend to be more charitable, hide money as motivations etc.)

B - Call people out on their behavior (explaining why you're not perfect either after is a great way to earn respect for your honesty and help maintain your relationship with the person you called out
);
C - Share your opinions on topics you feel passionate about (Joe shares his on the two no-go topics on polite society: politics and religion) (even if he knows he will get backlash about it. Example: transgender MMA fighter opinion)

Yes, Joe is not a non interuptable machine. His standout characteristic is he allows his guests to talk, and his own, rare, interuptions are excellent observations and questions that throw the ball back to his guest and enrich the interview. That's what makes him such a great broadcaster imo

I hate that it's so long. I wish he made then 1 hour or less. I don't have enough free time to listen to something for 4 hours and then again the next day

Joes maturity and lack of ignorance while talking to people is top tier because he shows respect first. He has his ego in check. This video has great point and great advise. Having your ego in check and being open minded makes him a power house of a person.

I have always tried my best to make it clear that "I want to be wrong, please tell me when I'm wrong. I will listen, I will do my best to understand." because i take more pride in my ability to listen than in my ability to be right. My own satisfaction for winning an argument will always pale in comparison to my need for truth. This is how i feel people should be, even if we disagree with each other.

The way he interrupts a guess talking on his podcast is not the kind that'll make u say " stop interrupting and let them talk". It only shows how interested he is to what they are saying rather than cutting them bcs he's got something to say.

ive always felt that i interrupt. but i do it with saying sorry for interrupting and give my thoughts on the topic because i genuinely care and want to hear about what they think about what their opinion on my thoughts are. I share about my life cause i always have interest in peoples lifes but people think its to be nosy and im not its genuine. i knoelw when people are genuine cause they dont feel offended and can have normal conversation. the people that think you are being nosy is cause thats what they do.

I had watched nearly every Rogan podcast there was. Hours and hours of just listening and learning. I was able to take myself out of a dark place but I had a dream one night that I was in a helicopter and Joe was the pilot. The helicopter was mine but as we were in the air I realized he wasn't a pilot. After thinking about that a while I realized that role models and influences are good but you have to fly your chopper. Rogan has shown me the exact method to surrendering my pride and opening my eyes and heart to acknowledge and understand people with beliefs that I feel were much easier for me to just disagree with. The world is lucky to have him.

Part of his "deep rooted confidence" is that he has always been the toughest or one of the toughest guys in the room. He was a national champion level wrestler at a young age. You have to be a bad dude to perform at that level. As an adult he's trained in MMA... He can say things that would get others knocked out or attempted to be knocked out. Now he has fame and fortune which adds to his dominance of his guests. He is great at what he does though.

Years ago, Joe was a _comedian,_ of all things, and then a bit actor in the TV show "News Radio," playing a somewhat questionable station engineer. Great show. So the fact that he now has the most popular (and highest paid) podcast in the world (or at least in the US), absolutely blows my mind. I still have a hard time taking Joe seriously, even though he's obviously someone TO take seriously. But like this video says, he's extremely intelligent, well-read, understands his audience, isn't afraid to ask hard-hitting questions, or call out someone when needed. And for that he should be highly commended.
The way to hold attention of listeners during a conversation is not only through mannerisms, but also through depth and importance of the information.
If you have nothing to say, yet are talking, don't expect people to put much effort into listening to you.

Joe Rogan and Russell Brand. My two favs; politically i'm not as liberal (in the best sense of that word). I love that they stay true to themselves and do it without the disrespect seen so often in others. I never feel "sneered at"; who knew that wd come to be such a valuable asset? Sane voices in insane times.
I discovered Joe several years ago, and found his conversations deeply engaging. I'd be painting or working on a course outline, and his breezy talks with interesting points of view, were the perfect accompaniment to my state of mind. I may not have agreed with everything he said, but he made sense.

This is probably the most useful, thick Charisma on Command episode there is. Joe is the perfect subject; I only realize now that the hours of episodes I've enjoyed had less to do with the guest or content of the day, but with a desire to expose myself to someone who is so masterful in this way - being firm yet respectful, even in disagreement. We absorb that to which we surround ourselves; media is food for the mind. Be healthy

i originally found this channel when i felt a lot of lack in my life. since then its been insane the up and downs events and stagnations of my life, but i really think trying to control your life more ends up being a hindrance. i still really respect this channel for helping people to learn what they think might better themselves but for me, i had to accept i just wasn't the person i wanted before i could move on to better things. i think life improvement is much more of a spiritual journey rather than a learning of techniques journey like these videos. i love you all guys keep on searching for whats right and meaningful. peace

You can completely control WHO you are. That stems to influence everything, that you touch, and how you perceive it. These are superficial tactics, that are ultimately not important compared to your Essence as a human being

However, i think you can completely control (or learn to) how you react to EVERYTHING (even, ofc, who you are), and i think that's the real game changer. This is my opinion obviously.

I found this extremely helpful. Might I add, I used to only like when Charlie did videos, because he came across a lot more 'charismatic', but you Ben did such a great job I took a while knowing it was even you! Your own voice has gotten a lot more confident, calm, composed, and commanding. Way to go practicing what you preach!
Incredible analysis--spot on. I always feel like Joe needs to interview himself--one of the most amazing people by far, not to mention his knowledge about anything and everything is uncanny--dude has an incredible work ethic. . .still works for the UFC, still managers to read a ton, still manages to stay up to date on current events, all while knowing so much about his guests. Dude is a work horse.
Joe's human just like anyone of us. He mostly has good days, but once in a while he would get defensive or would even try to put the other person down; and when you've literally interacted with thousands of people, that's bound to happen.

Always loved Joe's sense of comedic timing, I'm referring to his character on News Radio. When I first heard that he was an avid MMA fighter, I wasn't too surprised, cause even doing comedy, he came off as a BadAss.
Then watching how he handled himself as the host of Fear Factor, dealing with the variety of contestants, while mostly keeping his cool, you could see he knows something about disapline.
I've watched/listened to quit a few of his podcasts and found each one thought prevoking. Like how he speaks his mind.🤔😆🧠💖✨

Great video! His willingness to hear people out despite their differences has been a major influence in my life. It breeds trust and even friendship, bridging divides. This is needed now more than ever before!
Joe is so real. I learn a lot from his broad on RUclips and Spotify. He is a prime example of a real man.
This is a really good episode. Highly useful. Was explaining on how you don't have to be a big scary intimidating person to be dominant. You just have to be smarter and more prepared. Martial arts do help a lot. The more I've trained, the less likely fights have become. Most shitbags want to bully people who cannot stand up for themselves at all, if you can demonstrate you are gonna be hard to hurt, and the other person is putting themself at an extreme risk, generally the other person will back down. I'm a small person, and had to develop my body mind and soul, but I've been successful at every near fight I've been in over the past several years. All the events were people taking advantage of a community or individual. It's also good to network with your people so you have people to back you up if necessary. Be kind, but don't be a wuss bag.

They cannot take criticism, they often post selfies all the time because they crave unnecessary attention like a drug.
If they talk bad all the time about other people that aren’t even that bad, they’re talking about you in a bad way to their friends

This is why even though I’m not a subscriber I like listening to Joe Rogan’s videos. He stays level-headed and calm during arguments and is respectful and open-minded about other people’s views as well as being introspective with himself.

He has evolved a lot but he's still not one-sided or stuck in his bubble. He still learns from everyone and that's why everyone loves to join him on his podcast. And that's why we love to listen to it.
As an adult, this is the way I talk with people. However, it is very difficult to get a point across in my situation. I work in a rehab dealing with addiction issues. I would say 80% of these adults have serious ADD and are completely self-absorbed, almost like babies. When I calmly throw down facts and knowledge there's almost like a silence, like nobody can relate. I've been studying this whole thing but, it's not that much different in 'normal' society. Stay calm, state facts, be honest and speak from the heart even if you'll regret it, relate if you can, argue if necessary, take that hit graciously, but always respect their point of view. It doesn't work all the time but it's the way I transmit... And if it's utterly hopeless and you're just being freight trained then just walk away, and let the babies get their way.
Honestly, it sounds like you’re the one who is self absorbed and “like a baby” and shouldn’t be working in a rehab facility if you’re going to belittle people who struggle.
They need to go into labor camp, that will change their self-centered ways quick fast
Joe asks questions that no one will touch and ask the questions that his audience needs answers too. Great respect for joe in these times. And never backs down from an important topic and even goes further💪🏼

Joe does it exceptionally well because it is genuine. It comes from deep confidence. You can not mimic confidence.
He is very very polite when he asserts himself.
Another great breakdown. Love how joe takes both sides into consideration, how knowledgeable he is on various topics, and how he and his guests can keep us captivated for 3 hrs yet feel as if it would be a conversation we would just have with any one of our friends!!

In any case, something to consider is that it takes lots of human variety to make a workplace or a party or a community function well. We now call it social anxiety. Personally? That's a pretty anxiety causing title, right?
I know a woman who doesn't always speak up a lot in meetings. As a mediator, it should be my job to draw out the quiet people, and perhaps even quiet the exceptionally noisy ones.
What i eventually realized about Sharon was that she had the best grasp of anyone in the room of what was going on. She was also serving as the secretary for the meeting, so her focus was on accurately jotting down everyone else's words.
I quit trying to draw her out during meetings. I just let her know how much I appreciated her gifts.
Picture a whole room of Joe Rogans. It would be pretty exciting. But also draining perhaps.
I like this series.
But I don't think we all need to be Joe Rogan. I think if you saw your presence and effect on others, you might realize you offered a grace.
You are the only person who can elect to change, and the good news is all behaviors are partly past habits, and all habits change with routine practice. Good luck with what you choose.

This was a Great Video, I honestly don't watch Joe that much, I have known about him as a fighter for a long time, I always thought he just got Lucky with his Online gig, and never gave him much credit, but after watching THIS Video it really explains what the Attraction is to Joe. This kind of opened my Eyes to him, now I kinda wish I would have tuned in a little more.
I only recently mastered the staying calm and collected during heated discussions. I discovered I am able to "win" almost every discussion point because the other party is getting angry and emotional. And they are no longer able to use strong arguments.
I literally am constantly amazed by his confidence and honesty. Truly an icon.

@@lukeevans6070 It has been argued that using "literally" as "figuratively" is completely acceptable. It has been used in classics as "Jane Austen", and the exact difference between "literally" and "figuratively" is the reason why the hyperbole works. If you want to use an exaggeration to make a point, calling something ridiculous "figurative" would really downplay the image you're trying to convey
He's I think the best in history as an interviewer .. if that's how you say it. I can't think of anyone else who speaks like him to others and acts as genuine as Joe.
It's weird how good of a guy he is.
He's super friggin smart, one of the attitudes overall, the way he can basically relate to everyone and if he can't directly he genuinely tries.
Overall he's what I call a real man and one you can look up to and model your own self like him.
If everyone could be like him this planet would be a hole lot better and for God sake smarter by far.
I've listened to Joe since he started his podcasts back in the day and have watched him almost daily if possible because he's such a good guy.

I've enjoyed your videos for a good while now, but haven't really commented so I thought I'd mention it, and am happy for your success. Have you considered doing anything about online communications? Work voice conferences, texting, email. There are a lot of first-impressions done online without ever meeting or seeing the person.
When i am repeatedly interrupted by a conversational bully i say "I am sorry, did the end of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?"
or "I'd really love to talk to you about this, bit not like this..lets revisit this once you've had a chance to calm down"
or
"I guess I'll just have to accept your faulty perception of who I am" or "Your anger is not my responsibility"

Joe is such a fine man doing a great service with his work.
Rogan likes everyone, it means he doesn't have his own point or scary to share. I remember he was more honest about his thoughts, but was criticized.

This works. My boss was yelling at me one morning. He was completely in the wrong. However, I calmly said to him " You don't have to yell. You can talk to me like i'm a human being and still got your point across. " He instantly calmed down and actually , without actually saying it, admitted he was wrong. As I respected that he was my boss, I stood my ground and demanded respect . It worked for both of us. It kept a heated conversation from getting out of control. Sometimes confrontation isn't the answer.
Wouldn't it just have been easier to punch him in the face? That tends to shock the living sh*t out of them.
If you understand a man's world 9 out of 10 arguments are bluff..... loud verbal intimidation combined with a slanging match.. They yell at each other because neither expects to get punched in the face. When they get smacked hard enough, the bluff turns to utter confusion in a lot of confrontations.

A healthy amount of confidence and experience goes a long way.
Joe rogan is probably the most skilled communicator we have right now in pop culture. With thousands of hours of interviews taking place over a decade, he's very rarely stumped or the one being educated unless he has an intelectual or a PhD on.
The thing is with Joe. Everyone knows he is a hell of a fighter and the final debate settler is violence. So it's lucky he is so well spoken and intelligent for his guests sake. 😂
it took much longer than it should’ve to find a single comment about the fact that he is at least somewhat genuinely confident in defending himself against literally every guest he has on his show including the fighters. not to say he would beat them (with just his hands he could murder every guest that isn’t a fighter) but that he knows he wouldn’t be completely lost , combined with the fact that they are all in HIS environment (his house if i remember correctly), which in itself demands respect.
