I have heard from others it might be related to their tendency to develop arthritis.
Supposedly they will stand in deep water for quite a long time as it soothes the joints. Common behavior especially as they get older.
On the other hand they may just be that way by personality, who knows the inner workings of the dogs mind?

it's an animal who is closely related to wolves..
He's some kind of retriever. He's most comfortable in freezing cold water. They were bred to enjoy it. And that's how you get Toby.

Omg he is adorable... Toby!! They are never so happy as when they are dirty, my shepherd/collie mix would roll in the fresh manure in the garden and his eyes would be rolling to the back of his head like a shark and his tongue was hanging out, his whole body said yeah!

Awww. Toby was the name of my old brown golden doodle, he was such an annoying little goofball! He had separation anxiety and he was so dramatic. We had to put him down in February because he had cancer, it’s weird to think he’s just a memory. This just reminds me of exactly something Toby would do, and your dog looked like Toby after he got in the mud

I allow my pups to swim & do the same. It's nice seeing a dog owner allowing their dogs to be free--to run, to play, to swim, to get dirty--as they were intended to. Besides, there's nothing a good bath can't fix!! 😉💞🐕
