    I saw you take the rifle out of the box and start shooting immediately. I'm a S&W person and have several pistols and rifles. I clean everything before i shoot it. My Response had the dirtiest barrel of anything I've gotten to date. When i got my M14 in the Army they made us clean them before we shot them. Thanks for the video.

      124gr Speer gold dot 16.1" 1346fps. 124gr +P Speer gold dot 16.1 1422fps. I have the FPC and was wondering the same thing. Lucky Gunner has a video on this very subject, where they test different defensive ammo in 3.5" up to 16.1" barrels. These were the numbers they got for Speer gold dot ammo. My 124gr HST only reached 1256fps & 124gr +P HST 1321fps. They said 10-15% increase for 9mm velocity through a 16" barrel.

    Great review thanks! I was on the fence with this but it seems to be a good choice for me.

    Carbines are becoming the "go to" weapon

      Agreed - ammo price is cost-effective and more than capable for self-defense.

    I bought the Ruger PC Carbine, the AR style one. It's easily my favorite shooter at the range. From what I've seen, whether it's the extra points of contact or the extended barrel length, they all seem to be tack drivers. 👍

    Like the idea of pistol and carbine in 9mm. Can use the same ammo.

    • @DACKOutdoors

      Exactly! Cowboys used to use this same principle. They'd carry a revolver and a repeater that used the same ammo.

    I had an issue with the Response where I couldn’t eject a live, unfired +p Nosler 147gr JHP loaded by Underwood Ammo. The polymer charging handle wouldn’t budge. After using what I would call extreme force attempting to pull that charging handle back, the round finally ejected. I was left with a nice blood blister on the tip of my index finger. I swapped the polymer charging handle out with a Breek Arms Warhammer.
    The Response was unfired and brand new when this happened.
    I called S&W and a S&W customer service representative blamed Underwood... even after I made it clear that the Response ejects my other Underwood loads with no problem. (Lehigh Xtreme Defender in various grains, Speer Gold Dot, etc.)

    Why I. Built mine was a few reason ,price of ammo ,some gun clubs have shoots ,home defence . I have so many different cal . If I had to pick one firearm it would be the ar platform .

    Nice review. I purchased a FPC before the release of the Response. I like the 1800's cowboy philosophy of common ammo between my carry handgun (a S&W 9C) and carbine. Right now, my carry ammo is 124gr +P Speer Gold Dot, but still looking for ballistics data for defensive 9mm thru a 16 inch barrel. Also trying to figure out what the best zero should be with a maximum 100 yard self defense distance.

      We literally cut out the part in our video where Carsley talked about how the cowboys used to carry multiple platforms that shot the same ammo! We find these types of rifles to fit our needs with at 50yd zero.

      From what I gathered from my research the best barrel length for 9mm is around 7 inches because the velocity speeds start to show diminishing returns after that. Bigger calibers can utilize the increased velocity with less diminishing returns.

    Great video! Appreciate the review and insight. I wanted to ask about the charging handle specifically. I have not been able to get my hands on it myself, and wanted to ask is the charging handle flimsy/week, I believe it’s polymer/ plastic.
    Thanks again for the review :-)

    I'm thinking the critical duty +p 124gr and 135gr would be perfect ammo for carbines. Can't find anyone testing them out of a carbine?

    M&P 15-22 grownup to 9mm. Wonder how it will hold up compared to forged aluminum.

      We wondered the same thing when we heard it was polymer. After shooting it for several days, no issues with the polymer so far but it's too early to tell. Polymer has come a long way in recent years, so it'll likely be just fine. The polymer gives it a finish that isn't so glossy and actually has much better texture so that's a bonus. Thanks for watching!

    Way too much glass.

    • @DACKOutdoors
      @DACKOutdoors  8 месяцев назад

      It's on the upper end for glass...but it works perfectly. Especially since the RT-6 is a true 1 power and then you've got all the variable you want. A 1-4 or something even less would be fine, a red dot would be fine...but nothing wrong with this setup, either. Thanks for the feedback!

    • @dannyhayes664
      @dannyhayes664 8 месяцев назад +1

      9mm isn't designed for precision shooting or sniping. The Response, made of polymer and spartan design is best suited with a red dot sight.@@DACKOutdoors
