Instead of making the doughnuts, do you think using already made Krispy Kreme doughnuts would work? Would the icing still stick to their already glazed doughnut?
Thea Taylor cutting a hole in the center of canned biscuits (like pilsbury) and frying them works well. :) A soda cap is the right size to do it, if you don't have a small circle cutter.

You can get canned texas biscuit dough, cut holes in the middle, and deep fry them ^^

Just cut out some parchment paper into squares big enough for one donut and pipe a circle onto the parchment paper and deep fry them :)
