      @@chiekokurokumo it's interesting to me that you asked that question specifically because Characters and Viewpoint from the Elements of Fiction Writing series WAS very helpful when I picked it up - but I realize NOW that I picked up the one that I most gravitated to in the first place. It did a lot for what was already my strength, and NOW I encourage anyone who wants to get into those targeted books to pick the one(s) that least appeal to them, because they're probably the ones they need.
      Literally, if you stack all the books up and look at the spines and any of them make you go "ew", pick them up .
