Randy, That's a lot of hoops to jump through and quite a bit of expense. I wouldn't buy another vehicle from the UK as the TÜV was a nightmare. Cheers Dave

I've heard it said before that there may be more classic minis here in the States vs those in England.. especially MKIs. But this method really applies to any vehicle...

If you are owning any classic car in Arizona, bear in mind any car 1966 and newer may have to be emissions tested. My 40-year old car has to be emissions tested every two years.

Wow…. They test way back. That is all part of our state safety inspection, but they don’t check emissions on older vehicles

I find it crazy that anyone would import a classic car from the UK considering how much issues we have here with rust. Surely there's dryer climates you could import a Mini from.

Spain or Australia would be other good places to buy and import from.. Yet you can find good ones in the UK..

The fees wouldn’t bother me but sod all that paperwork

It can make your head spin, especially the first time round. A broker however is fabulous and the only way to go in my personal opinion..

Super useful video. Do you have any experiences of importing a Mini with a swapped engine? I'm planning to ship a Mini van which was swapped with a Cooper S engine, basically from 998cc to 1275cc, will this be an issue during the inspection?

A friend recently purchased a pickup with a swapped engine. The only real issue is to make door the vin number plate matches the paperwork. You should not have any issue otherwise, especially if the van is older.. excited for you. Sounds fantastic!

I'm looking into importing a Mini from the UK to Savannah, Ga. Do you have a broker you recommend that I could contact or would it be specific to your area? Also, I was kind of confused, does the broker do anything on the initial shipping end, or is the broker for after shipment and import assistance? You just set up a shipment with a company and coordinate getting the car to the ship, there's not a lot on the initial shipping end to do, it's all on the receiving end?

Shoot me an email: randy@lonestarmini.com and it’s.. the same broker can handle the east coast I believe. I’ll be in Savannah next week…

Wonder how the system works the other way around, importing to the UK from USA, is it any easier? Good info and presentation as ever Randy.

Thanks Paul…. I actually might think the regulations would be stricter in some areas (like ensuring the car has no bugs, soil, plant life, etc) and more relaxed in others. But would expect the system to be similar…
