- Опубликовано: 6 фев 2025
- Morph is a concept demonstrating some of the possibilities nanotechnologies might enable in future communication devices. Morph can sense its environment, is energy harvesting and self cleaning .
Morph is a flexible two-piece device that can adapt its shape to different use modes. Nanotechnology enables to have adaptive materials yet rigid forms on demand.
It is also featured in the MoMA online exhibition "Design and the Elastic Mind". It has been a collaboration project of Nokia Research Center and Cambridge Nanoscience Center.

12 years have passed and I'm still waiting for the day this device will come true.
its here, you wont even know you have it
Samsung released the Flex S & G, so we are almost here.
14 & counting
@@callhernina4005 sad ... AI revolution is coming up and the 'nokia morph' remains only in our imagination, and in this video, ofcourse 🙄
One day my friend one day.
I don't care that people think this is impossible to pull off, I think the ambition and forward-thinking behind this concept is what truly elevated it for me.
It left a lasting impact that even they attempted to replicate some aspects unsuccessfully with the flexible concept devices.
came for the concept video, fell in love with the melody ^_^ 4 years now and still coming back
absolutely. i actually discovered "Destiny" and Zero7 because of this video. Regardless, this holds a charm of its own. No clue why
Samsung Fold is just a small tease of what this future is representing on mobile computers..
This is the true vision that everyone is waiting for.
I used to watch this from time to time, 10-11 years ago, and would be so amazed by this concept. Still amazed.
The animation, graphic explanation, and music are very inspiring. Nice work.
A phone that turns into a watch with a beautiful green display and is transparent.. This is the true future smartphone... And it's not too far away..
Back then this was magic to us.. Now? It has the potential to become real..
Don't get ahead of yourself though, this particular phone/computer is driven by mini nano robots that makes the whole phone function.
The principles and rules of this particular hardware is totally different, likely not a phone based on morris Law..
Regarding the technology in this particular phone is many years off because we don't have nano robots and small nano computers that fits into a formfactor.
The Samsung fold is simply the beginning of the folding age of electronics.
2019.
11 years and it's 12% here. Not totally impossible.
2030
At this rate of 1.2 sciences per year we will have it by 2100
@@vehicleboi5598 lol the european union is actually a it's top level speed resesrching this there several companies trying to develope it first
Damn didn't know Nokia was this advanced in the past, how did we devolve
If Nokia continued to be a world leader, this would've been possible. They are such good innovators.
THIS IS EACH TIME MORE AND MORE NEAR
This is actually almost real life now.
Samsung OLED presented the new Flex series in multiple form factors, triple foldable, and so on, so we getting closer and closer to this concept.
So great.
available in 2040-2050
2076 it will be released. Come back and reply to me that year. I will be 89 years old by then if Im still kicking it.
DayZ still early access by then :D
@@sidraines I'm from 2089. This tech is outdated.
Looks like mid 2020s now.
Nokia doesn't make phones anymore, all of these "Nokia" phones being released in 2019 are actually HMD Global. And there's absolutely no way HMD Global would ever do something like this.
at 2008 I was 8 years old and this made me crazy every day I went to see it, I was very excited with the idea and I had decided to buy this cellphone barely went to sale, but now I'm 18 and the reality is simply different, just like in all aspects of life. Hope the children of tomorrow can enjoy this as much as I did
Nokia, get your shit together. It's been twelve years.
2017. Still waiting.
2021 now. Nothing.
a friend once told me that Nasa was 12 plus years ahead of the tech available to the public.
Anyone here after Samsung revealed the Galaxy Fold?
OMG YES!
yes
yeah :D
And Huawei Mate X 😱
everybody came back to see this. wow. this technology is future still.
the music is frickin amazing!
I have watched this video way back in 2008 and now i can say we're almost there. Look up the Xiamoi Mi Alpha.
This is really interesting. By far, this is the most advanced concept phone Ive seen. Hats off to Nokia if they put it in production in the future.
Amazing! Nanotech makes us really think out of the box.. It brings many possibilities.
R.I.P. Nokia :(
Mark my words, i will accomplish this one day!!! The date is currently November 4th, 2020 for those who will wonder when they see this comment.
Hello from 2017, i spent my 9 years of my life waiting for this to happen
I remember when this came out, I was on university taking engineering class, we still had flip phone back then. The concept idea of a smart phone was more like a tool to help us with out daily routine and save life with smart sensors that can alert others and give you information of your surrounding. Not the Bull**** of today with social apps, advertisements and stupid games.
2020 and I'm still waiting. Like if you're still waiting
Sadly, anyone watching this before 2100, will not be around when this kind of technology comes out... I'm so jelous that we won't be able to see or use it...
2100? Nah that's too long. Technology is developing very quickly..
Would love love love to know who composed the music for this video. I'd like to hear more from this artist or artists.
Seth Goodman, I have been asking myself the exact same thing.
Well, if I ever uncover the mystery Biliana Rousseva I'll be sure to let you know.
That would be absolutely very kind of you, Seth Goodman, and even more appreciated.
Seth Goodman The music is based in a song called "Destiny" from the group "Zero 7". Is very similar, the difference is that "Destiny" has lyrics but in this video is just music. One user told me 2 years ago.
Thanks, +Fran Wilkinson -- you are right and I have that Zero 7 song and I never made the connection. I hope the person who composed the full track for this video is doing well, still making music, and knows that their work has held up and continues to be sublime.
The song in this video is some sort of mix of the song "Destiny" by Zero 7. If anyone finds the actual mix, please send me a message. thanks!
I saw it in January 2010 That time no one was expecting a smart phone boom
so sad that such an amazing concept will never be released from nokia :(
Well Samsung are on their way with it. ;) This Nokia phone was based purely on the material called 'Graphene'.

It doesn't have to be Nokia.
so sad, nokia end this year :(
HMD Global has even LESS of a chance of releasing something like this!
2017
still wating nokia...
Hello from 2016
and Nokia are nearly dead as a company
2010 Revenue = €51 Billion so more than half revenue lost in 6 years.
26th Oct 2007 Nokia share price = €27.64
28th Sep 2016 Nokia share price = €5.08 a decline of 82% share value in 9 years!
If we then look at say a less innovative company lets take chinese mobile firm Huawei
2010 Revenue: $27.36 billion
2015 Revenue: $60.1 billion (up 35% from 2014)
So who's doing pretty good now then??? and this is Nokia who were leaders in the world of Mobile and now are being dwarfed by even Chinese company that was tiny when Nokia were dominating. Nokia is now an empty shell of its former self.
thetaz00 Dont get me wrong, I grew up with Nokia phones when I was 13 I remember everyone in my class having a Nokia 3310 or a 3210 it just changed everything. We used to play Snake all day in class. We loved those phones. Its just a shame the company didn't invest in the right areas, the bosses got to lazy and comfortable. They lacked the vision. That's why Apple took the crown, and they had no experience in making phones they were making computers. The bosses of Nokia didn't understand the consumer of tomorrow, just like BlackBerry, look at them today...
revenue did drop because they sell two departments
-nokia mobile phone department
-here maps
but now Nokia is acquiring again
-withings
-Alcatel lucent
for example in 2015 alcatel revenue were 14.3b euro, plus those 27b from Nokia networks you get around 41b euro
and dont forget nokia technologies are doing well, they are almost 1 billion business after new licencing deal with samsung,
probably upcoming financial nokia wont be profitable, but after restructuring and lay off nokia+alcatel will be bigger player than Huawei.
This is a millenial driven market guys. Nokia lost out as celebrities from Kanye West to Kim Kardashian all had iPhones and millenial consumers like sheep went and bought them. Until Nokia make a phone that is fashionable then they have no chance of keeping with the likes of Samsung or Apple or even Google now. Nokia are best advised to stick with corporate consumers.
This is an insane exercise of futurology. I always wondered why Nokia was so ahead of its time and still didn't see the advent of the touch smartphones era. The answer to the iPhone came out one year later and they were the uber-crappy 5800 Xpress Music and N97, that could have been the worst flagships that Nokia ever produced.
aun no existe en el 2021 pense que si existiria aquella vez que vi este concepto de nokia wow 13 años despues
Peak Frutiger Aero
The technology behind it still isn't feasible. We've yet to reach Nanotechnology of this scale, size, and property. The features are very futuristic too.
We just aren't there yet.
Why didnt Jorma Ollilla then create this instead of becoming lazy and letting apple to become the new mobile maker.
coming soon in yur favorite cineeMa !!
wooooooooooooooooooooow
incredibleeeee!!
beautiful
thats a well cool idea , and i can see it working very well the first few times it works but due to its incredibly small sensors to pick up things like germs and stuff, how do u clean it and stop it from reading that there are germs on food that u checked earlier on food u are checking now?? just a thought !!
Hey Nokia. It's time to make this true.
Anyone want to know more about this phone, or rather other phones in the future? Research a material called 'Grahpene'. Samsung may actually be the first company to release a phone near to what this video shows.
Kavi Amalakumar But at what cost...cost to the manufacture and consumer. Graphene will be in out future that goes without question, but the above was just wishful thinking. But I am sure if you want to spend millions for a phone you will get one like the one above...someday
Well, that would be a fake. Nokia and Cambridge spent so much time on research and Samsung would just watch this video, copy it an would present it as "their idea" like the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is a iPhone fake.
Concept is superb but it is something impossible
It showed that it has nano grass but how come it is transparent ?
If not that how can you make it water proof and dirt proof if it has nano grass
It is only an idea
Good imagination
If they can make it it would be a great success for Nokia
There are possibilities they can build this type of Technology !!!!
Wow.. what a concept!!! maybe it will be around 20 years for it to actually be made.. It's not impossible.. but don't expect me to buy it when it goes to market.. cause i'm sure i'm one of those nano tech developers.. cheers for future!!!
The background song is SO cute!
Well i came here to say iphone 6 bending concept is still not a origginal concept *grabs popcorn
It's 2016 where's my Nokia morph ?
We need still waiting.
we just have plastic screens that are flexible but we have no flexible touchscreen
The morph myth ....
15Prettylittleliar it's gone be Galaxy S 10
say hello to iPhone
2017: we have a new nokia 3310
the song makes this video so ethereal and... inspiring.
Oh my god this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. If humanity actually pulls this off, then our possibilities are endless.
Fast forward 2019 Samsung has Galaxy Fold and it breaks after 3 days 😂
2018 I still waiting :/
What is the name of the song??
Been searching for 8 years but I still can't find it, I guess Nokia made this song specificity for this video
kay ma I think same!!!
It's a custom song just for this video, it samples Zero Seven's "Destiny" search it on RUclips. The chord progression is near identical. It's a very dreamy piece of music. thank me later. peace.
Oh my god, it is the same kind of style. Bro, Thank you So much for introducing this great composer to me!!!
I was going to say the same as +Sidney G. The song belongs to the melody of the song "Destiny" from Zero 7.
Please make this available near future.. I really want it!
Amazing Concept!
why is it fucking green?
oh, ok i watched it to the end
in order to remind natural grass; this is a graphenic grass
no green was being fucked in the video..
This is so funny. It would never happen even after 1000 years. But nice idea.
its already posible
naai meniet no
it's NEVER gonna happen. Reasons :
Flexible and transparent processors, RAMs, and batteries ? I don't think so. Now we have flexible batteries but it's almost impossible to make them transparent.
A material that is hydrophobic, can absorb light and turn it into electricity, flexible AND transparent all at the same time ? You gotta be kidding me.
Plus the idea of tearing a part of the tablet and turning it into a wireless headset or a watch is very fictional, and is also impossible.
TheRedTech98
Go back 10 years man, and then 20 years, then 30.. think of the insane progression of technologies we have already seen. Future technologies will look like impossible magical things that couldn't be. Yes, nanotech being implemented like this is far off, but it will likely happen sooner than any of us might expect. But give 30 years to it? I don't think any of us can truly say what will happen in such a time frame.
Ill just Leave this here... www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3156205/figure/F2/
amazingly drawn,amazingly executed video
If this phone existed i would probably get it because when im on my way to class in the morning and i need to know the time im fumbling around for my phone to get it and i would be at class by the time i pulled it out of my pocket.
well all i would have to do is look at my wrist and there would be my phone.
Awesome concept, love it, best out of all the ones ive seen
its 2020 DAMMIT COMMON NOKIA!!
ok we are getting closer
Fascinating Concept. Nanotechnology has so many applications :)
Wow! A real journey in the future! Brilliant!
Same. I have been searching music like this for nearly 5 years. And I am still finding....
I've never "scene" someone with such immaculate grammar and spelling that worked in robotics.
@Forget00 I dont fully agree. Speaking about processors in this case. A 40nm processor is more efficient then a 65nm processor because it doesn't generate as much heat. Thus more energy goes to processing then generating heat. I'm no scientist but I do work on becoming an engineer. And maybe(speculating) the efficiency is greater the smaller the processor becomes. And that would mean that the processor wouldn't need the extra power to process at the desired speed because of low heat generation.
well, if you think about how current cameras take photos - the image is made up of pixels, the picture is a copy of the differences of light and dark in the many pixels, and when you view it, the camera electronically displays the differences of light and dark from when you took the picture. So, if the Morph is made up of millions of little independent electronic 'cells', each one can recognise the light/dark/colour etc, and combine it all to make a picture you took. Hope that makes sense :)
2020 just commenting for my future self
In all seriousness, this is a bad ass concept and I'd like to see how much further they take it.
2019 Samsung Fold it's near to that...still hope this come out from somewhere
I'm hyped, waiting
what about the song? from wich artist is it? cause it's so relaxing!
awesome video!
Now with Samsung working on foldable displays were close to sth like this. Way ahead of its time.
Mooooom i dont wanna live anymore without morphh!!
Ah .. the wondrous initial optimism of what that magical word .. NanoTechnology .. had the possibility of doing in those days. Still, looks like a fun tech dream .. maybe AI will figure it out once it's watched this video for us.. *chuckle
Its technology like this that makes me really hope the world doesnt end in 2012.
flexpai and samsung unnamed folding phone.
seen this video back in 2010 and I really wanted such a phone, thankfully now it began to come in life.
Our kids are so lucky. They might live long enough to see this happen.
Gostei...espero poder ajudar nesse processo.
2021. Nothing yet.
I loved this back in 08 !
@theguy911ful solar, it says it in the vid that nanograss harvests the solar energy to charge it up.
This is what we call sick technology. Computers become faster all the time, and they get more storage. But they dont really perform new functions, so you dont call new computers a revolution. The morph really looks like a practical revolution, and i hope we'll see it being released somewhere in the next 20 years...
-
and 20 years should actually be enough time to realize this, given the fact that something like the iPad was unimaginable as short as 10 years ago.
This is awesome, The future is here people.....
And it never breaks!
this just goes to show the amazing and unlimited possibilities of textile engineering. people look past textiles thinking its all about clothes and rugs...not anymore
2008: Solar powered folding phones that can smell things
2019: Huge screens and 3D cameras that make your face into a cartoon.
Cant wait for the future!!!
i just hope to live long enough to actually experience such technology. that would be awesome :)
I have no doubt we will be seeing things like these in the future become reality.
THIS will revolutionize portable devices. The market share of the tablets, e-readers, phones and laptops will drop dramatically.
@ImTooSecretive I think the stretching thing would make this incredibly hard to break... However it's just a concept, so I suppose no one really knows until they've tried it.
Futuro, por favor, me aguarde! Quero ver isso funcionando de verdade nem que seja só em vídeo!
its amazing how complex and possible this idea is yet we cannot save the world from pollution
Check Self-cleaning, the grease "should" come off due to the molecular structure of the nano technology.
that was so amazing..nice concept..
shown in class. i think its cool. this thing havent exist but it can be an inspiration to designers out there! xD
I really do like this phone and all the science put fourth into it is just amazing. Is there any chance they could be developing this phone with the technology we have today or is this phone just too advanced for todays technology?
I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO REVISIT THIS VIDEO WHEN THE BENDABLE WEARABLE PHONES BECOME A REALITY. this concept is now fulfilled by motorola.
Do you mean the last option? I think it just might take a picture and then create a pattern of the image to fit into the shape of the phone, and then just mimic it onto the surface. Could be done. Also a huge use in military technology. as in you could have a tent that mimics the surrounding surface grass, sand, dirt, snow etc.
