    DUDE!!!! This worked..
I had this TV sitting in my office on the floor for about 2 years now. Just turning on and off. I knew that it had to be a power issue but had no where to start.
I think my TV Broke before you put up this video, because I googled like crazy to find an answer.
Anyways the TV I moved from a guest room to my bed room to replace the LG with 2 years ago just blew it's bulb, so I figured I would look again and found your video.
I have the 5500 model (no difference other than size) and I said.. NO WAY CAN IT BE THAT EASY.
I ordered the J233 from ebay 2000V version (blue one)
It came yesterday. I took out the 30+ screws and did the simple DESOLDER and RESOLDER.
    Sure enough FIRED RIGHT UP.
Used the TV for like 4 hrs last night - works great again!!!
You get a huge like from me.
Thank you so much for posting this video. Saved me a $600 TV that was just taking up space on the floor in my office.

Thanks for the great video. My 2012 LG Plasma started turning itself and clicking just over a week ago. I watched your video, ordered a new higher rated capacitor and bingo! it's all working again. Thanks for the very clear advice. Local repair shop said they don't even bother to repair plasmas any more which is disgraceful, when a $5 fix is available.

Thank you for the illustration, was ready to scrap this TV! I have the same TV as in your video but evidently mine has an upgraded main board! Looking at the board there were two bad capacitors which could be seen very evident to the eye. Replaced the capacitor’s cost for them was six dollars for the pair! Thanks again!

I have an LG OLED55C7P with similar symptoms except the clicking occurred at a much quicker rate - once a second or so. I couldn't see any bulging capacitors so replaced the whole board (about $130 + shipping from Sears of all places). That fixed the problem. Thank you for posting this video.
BTW, the problem was due to a lightning discharge very close to the house. I was using a surge protector (3,940-joule rating from a big name manufacturer) but it apparently wasn't enough. I also lost a wifi router on that power strip. But didn't lose the sound bar, 3 Apple Airport Time capsules and an Echo dot on the same power strip so glad for that. I will be beefing up the surge protection and unplugging the power strip whenever I'm away for any length of time. This area in mid-Florida seems to get a fair bit of thunder storms.

If you do not find any bad components: Just re-solder all solder point for the large components. A common problem with boards being soldered using a solder bath is that the large components do not get heated enough, resulting in solder points with micro cracks after some years. Reheating of these points and adding some fresh solder fixed my power board for this TV :)

thank you, the perfect solution to my lg plasma tv problem. this clicking symptom is very common problem on many LG plasma tvs. i followed it to fix my LG 50PA5500, made in 2012. also read several forums about it, problem is the C802 capacitor. i ordered replacement part from DIGIKEY for 95 cents and $4.99 shipping. tv is back for the attack in full working order for ONLY $6 and some time researching the problem, troubleshoot, diagnosis, parts, and repair. DIGIKEY part number 495-1360-ND, manufacturer part number B32652A7223J000, description is CAP FILM 0.022UF 5% 1.25KVDC RAD. polarity doesnt matter with this part, so it can be installed either direction on the power board.

223 is the capacitor value. I.e. 22 and 3 zeros in pico farads. So 22000pF or 22nF. Your replacement says 22n which is the same. Those caps are not polarized, if they were there would be some indication like a + or - printed near one of the pins.

Got a 60 inch LG plasma tv for free off of the craigslist free bee section. It was making the same clicking sounds as your plasma tv was so i replaced both psu boards with replacment boards off ebay. After that it was fixed. It ran like a champ hooked up my xbox 360 on it and played GTA 5 on all day. It ran great great no problems what so ever. Great video by way im certain it will help other LG plasma tv owners out there as well. My LG tv was made in 2008 so yes it is a older set but works great now.

I have a 50” LG 50PT350-UD. Was working fine and one day it shut off. Tried turning it on and nothing. When I got close to the tv I smelled burning smell. I have the back off and plugged it in. Within second that smell came back and it’s not coming from the power board. It’s the largest board with a part number EBR71838901 that the smell of burning electrical is coming from. I have a infrared temp gage and a small ceramic rectangle part gets hot fast.
Anyway. Looking for suggestions as to what it might be. Can’t attach pictures

Yep! Fixed my 50PA5500. Most likely it is the high voltage 22nF 1200V capacitor in the power supply. When caps go they tend to short circuit. In automotive electronics and high reliability circuits we use two in series. I replaced mine with a 22nf 2kv and all is good! Cost me $1.09 for part at Mouser part #B32672L8223J EPCOS/TDK. I wonder how many people have junked their LG plasmas. Similar problem with my Samsung LED, but 27nF 700V caps burned out. Replaced with 27pF 6kv from TDK part #

Do you know how to test capacitors, none are bulging,I know problem is on power board somewhere,I disconnected the other boards and it still clicks, maybe its a fuse.I'll have to use meter and start checking.

BigMike&Country I have a capacitor tester.. same as an led backlight tester. But other that that, I usually look for bulging or fat capacitors.

I am trying to fix my 2006 Samsung 50 inch. Other than the immense power it uses I adore it. I detest LED’s.
My problem is a bit different. It makes the clicking noise on and off 6,7, maybe 8 times, like it’s really trying to fire up, and then eventually it finally fires up but it acts like it’s struggling to produce enough power to run it for maybe another 10-15 seconds after it finally fires up. Then Once its running for a bit it’s actually fine. I know one of these times it just won’t fire up. I’m trying to fix it now before it’s toast.

Hi, thanks for the video. I took out my power board, and found the same capacitor, but it doesn't look abnormal (bulged) anywhere, nor does any of the other capacitors as far as I can tell. Do you think I should just go ahead and order a replacement for this particular one, and take a chance?

    • @irishpirate6779

sometimes they look "normal" but are internally fried. look at the link i posted in this thread to another person.

Good evening . I have a LG plasma as well that a client had given me today the light turns on and clocks as well but I don't see an image appearing . Would it also be the reason for it being that the previous owner left the pin inside where the antena goes .thanks for your great videos .

If the clock stays and doest move then it may be the main board.

    Question:
    Panasonic TH-50PZ80E
It's not turning on. After blinking green, it goes to a blinking red light. It still 'clicks' nicely as it's always been doing, so it seems very healthy, and there's never been any issue with the image. It just doesn't turn on. For a while, it helped to hold a remote button pressed to help it 'wake'. But it worked less and less. As if it gradually struggled to be turned on.
Any ideas on this is greatly appreciated.
(A local tv rep. guy diagnosed it as being 'something' with the main board.)
But he didn't say what. I think he wasn't able to diagnose it as it is many small components.

    • @TECHIELIFE
      @TECHIELIFE  4 года назад +1

You may be right. I have a small shop that carries some electronics, but this ship is almost 10-20 times the price of normal electronics. Also they won't always have the exact one you need. But there's not really any stores like radio shack left. So that's why I say eBay. Its fast and easy.

    • @TECHIELIFE
      @TECHIELIFE  5 лет назад

I would use a capacitor tester, but that would mean I have to take the capacitor out of circuit. Although I have heard that you can test the capacitor with a multimeter while still on.

Try disconnecting the X-Y sustain power connector, if the PSU stays in likely the Y sus is shorted.
