2011 Honda CR-V AC Not Working Take 2

  • This Honda CR-V was in a few weeks ago and the AC was reported to be not working. unfortunately that day it was cold enough to require the heater on and the AC would not quit. I suspected a faulty thermal cutout switch but when it finally stopped working the AC was being commanded on.

    Just as a sanity check, I would probably voltage drop test the power/ground if possible.
    We used to have an old F-150 for shop use and every summer the clutch would be inop. The issue was resolved for the summer season by banging on the clutch/compressor with a hammer during its first few cycles. It's been a while, but I think we lubricated it a little bit as well. The A/C compressor was far more accessible on that truck though.

    What I like to do is close the hood and babysit a volt meter on the power wire at the compressor. The hood being closed builds up heat faster. I had one one time that I never got the field coil to open circuit until I closed the hood. Since that day I’ve always closed the hood to recreate customer complaint

    so it not a gap issue?

      @danman9017 no usually if it's a gap problem the clutch will engage if you push on it and help it.
