    Great video Christian , We have got lots of good youngsters, We won’t get back to the top of the table, until the Wru and Irb give the Welsh Teams a proper budget 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤞👍🏻

      Yeah agreed. Not sure what they will do but they need to try and find some extra money for the budget somewhere or people are just going to turn off rugby for good

    Hi Christian,The Dragons it has been poor season and I do feel for them, I am a fan of all the 4 teams, but I am a Scarlets fan. Like you say it has been not so good for our main 4 regions and our national team, saying that Ospreys have caught my eye and been doing well Lets see what happens on the summer tour and next season, We need to get more input and more money in to the regions The WRU have got to do some thing for next season.
    I would like to pay a tribute to two young rugby players who played for Wrexham Rugby Club and a young lady travelling with them who lost their lives in tragic car accident in Staffordshire in England, and lived not to far from me in Tan-y-Fron and Coedpoeth, condolences to there family and friends
    As always good to hear from you mate, Take care

    Not a great season for Welsh fans at all. The ospreys looked good in parts but them miraculously climbing from 11th to 8th on the final day just papers over the cracks once again. So many quality players are leaving the regions and the replacements coming in just don’t look all that great so I’m not holding out any hope for next season. Rather than getting players from the English second tier or from abroad, I believe the regions should give the young academy guys a good go. Give them proper game time and develop a generation of players that have played senior rugby since they were teenagers. But I may be wrong and hopefully next season, the regions can be competitive.
    I would be interested to see how many of the total wins from the Welsh regions came from beating non-Welsh sides. They seem to all be able to beat eachother but can’t beat anyone else.
    Great video as always, Christian. Whenever I see a notification for one of your videos, my day gets that much better 💪🏼

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah I’d like to see more academy players given a shot again, it’s a delicate balance though of giving them experience and not forcing them into a bad situation where they go to lose we week out.
      I think there is potential for both team Wales and the regions to be better next year but until a clear strategy and better funding model is sorted like you said we’re just papering over the cracks. What do you think is gonna come out of this review that we are expecting any day now?
      Thanks mate, absolute legend and I always enjoy reading your comments. You’re clearly someone who loves Welsh rugby just as much as me 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤙🏼 Thanks for sticking with me since the start

    Cardiff need more depth in a lot of positions one scrum half on the books. Only three tight heads three second rows. They've had to rely on loan players from the Dragons

      They have brought a couple of backs from Bristol and Newcastle who look interesting, Welsh qualified too I think. Be need a second row and a back rower now too to replace the guys we’ve lost

    • @davidlee55

      @@TheWelshSportsPodcast you say that and sometimes you can agree George North 18/19 first cap for Wales but he was 6ft 4 and 16 stone. Steffan 6ft - 91kg now yes there are centres who play at that kind of height and weight but I can imagine it's more difficult. Alex Mann is an easy example playing 6 at just shy a 100kg been asked to play a full season and is basically banged up so bad he can't go on Tour.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah I take your point but for now there’s no guarantee that he will even play. Especially when you think Grady and Thomas are already there but and they’ve made 2 new signings. Be interesting to see what the squad looks like once they’ve made all there signings

    Don't think Dwayne peel is the best coach to be honest, I think Llanelli needs a new head coach but obviously I don't think it will happen. There's meant to be a review coming out in June but we will see what they say. Keep the 4 region teams. There's nothing wrong with it. They just need to be managed better , There's so many players that have missed this summer's tour unfortunately you touched on a few of them. I'm glad Llanelli centre has made it in now tho.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast

      Yeah I tend to agree with you about Peel. I think he’s a good coach but maybe not head coach material? Yeah good to hear about Eddie James, I think he could make an impact

    It's been a really disappointing season for the Welsh regions They are all carrying to much dead wood and their salary cap is so small they just cannot afford quality players Which means the mix between young talent and experience is way screwed towards the unexperienced young talent Sadly i cannot see the money problems improving for a long time So maybe it's time to bite the bullet and for one region to go and its best players merged into the surviving regions ?

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  5 месяцев назад

      I see your point, but how do you decide who to cut? No matter which region you cut, you’re going to lose all those fans because see for example you cut the dragons. They never gonna go and watch Cardiff play or travel all the way to West Wales weekend week out. See what I mean?
      I dunno what the answer is tbh I think it’s a few years of more of this unfortunately 😬

      @@TheWelshSportsPodcast I know what you mean and yes the old rivalries in Welsh rugby Have very definitely held it's development back every since the regions where formed The WRU made a huge mistake in basing the regions on current clubs like Cardiff - Newport - Swansea and Llanelli with the lost region from Brigdend They should have opted for brand new club names like Blue Dragons Scarlet Ospreys That way they might have got fans from both Cardiff and Newport to support the club the same for Llanelli,Swansea/neath While leaving themselves room to basetrgions in the north and central valleys Bur Als they didn't and fans didn't support the region over their local club

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah I think you’re spot on with that one. The only way they could really rebrand it now would be maybe. East, West and maybe north
      The only thing is then though still, East would obviously be playing in the arms Park and therefore still feel like it was Cardiff if you get me?

    • @DavidShort-q1d
      @DavidShort-q1d 5 месяцев назад

      @@TheWelshSportsPodcast Truth be told i can see no reason why the EAST team shouldn't alternate between Arms Park and Rodney parade The same for WES between the Liberty and Scarlet North would obviously play in the WRU stadium thats used for the U20s matches [ that i have forgotten the name of ?] While the central region would need investment into one of the local club stadiums like EBBE VALE for instance Of course it will never happen so it;s all just speculation and dreaming of what may have been
