In fairness to Jese, you need to mention that he had ACL reconstruction surgery in 2013 from which he never really recovered. PSG were suckered into a move for him as his contract was running down and they pretty much just loaned him out every season to see if he was ever going to recover. It seems to me the player himself could see he was never going to deliver on his promise and lost interest in the game.

Thank you very much for being a keen observer.
Chelsea's transfer dealings have been scattergun since the summer of 2015 when we finished 10th because previous ownership didn't see a proper continuity plan like they did in the previous years. The went for plan B signings that the manager clearly didn't want and they expected the manager to do all the miracles (see Jose and Conte and Tuchel to a less or greater extent) that every season after a major win would be a catastrophy (10th after winning the league in 14-15, 5th after winning the league in 16-17, failing to build on the 2nd champions league win in Porto). As much as the current ownership has struggled, the symptoms have been long in the tooth for quite sometime.
Chelsea's success in the last near decade has been built on chaos and extreme short termism that just no longer works or is functional in the modern era of football. I hope that with Pochettino the road to building a consistent top levels challenger on all fronts like the first decade under Abramovich will be worth the current pain the fans are going through and I believe it to be so

West Ham fan here. My first thoughts when I saw this were Zaza (couldn’t agree more) and also Mido, who scored an equally impressive zero goals in 9 games and missed a penalty in an away match against Everton- we were 0-1 down at the time and went on to draw 2-2 with another (more successful) loan signing Ilan scoring a superb diving header to equalise - and our fans sarcastically called for him to be sent off after a late challenge. He was one of the worst players I’ve ever seen in a West Ham shirt and that is a field with very strong competition!
We had Benni McCarthy at around the same time (he and Mido might even have played together up front) who was even worse but I checked his Wiki and he was apparently a permanent signing.

I don't remember the player as it was some years ago, but I remember how Herta BSC Berlin got themselve into the ridiculous situation of not being able to use their trainers first choice player despite him being in great shape and healthy. That was because the loan of that player involved a clause where they would have to sign that player permanently if he played more than a certain amount of matches and he already reached that number. Herta was (as usual) in bad financial shape and just couldn't afford the money for that signing so the trainer was forced to scramble around for the last 3rd of the season trying to replace the key player of the team.

I honestly feel so bad for Arthur. So many sources at Liverpool praised him for his hard work ethic and dedication, but his body has just seemingly betrayed him. I earnestly hope he can turn his fortunes around, perhaps at a lower level club that can afford him more minutes.

Renato Sanches' loan from Bayern to Swansea only happened because he was lacking everything that made him great at the EURO 2016 and Bayern hoped that a loan move would reinvigorate his form and career. How anyone could see that loan move as a great coup in the UK is beyond me, it was more like a hail mary. Similar to me throwing a hail mary for the Austrian Wunderteam video to be made 😇✌.

In another world entirely back in 2009 Rushden & Diamonds picked up a highly rated loan signing for 2 months of Yannick Bolasie. Great player and a nice bloke but he was only there for 8 games and could only play 4 due to being sent off twice. Not sure how much he cost but as he was then a Plymouth player can’t imagine it was an awful lot 🙈😬
