You and Watch it played are my two favorite board game "watch it played" channels on youtube. You personally go through different play styles so we can see different strategies. I like that as I can start to really formulate how I'm going to take down my friend who always finds a way to beat the group when we board game.
There are a lot of amazing mechanisms in this game that other game designers should take note of. Those meeples and there weapons and upgrades suits is a great idea.
Another great playthrough with some fascinating tactics. I really like the lighting on your videos along with the tight editing and all the close-ups. The audio is also very easy to listen to. Many thanks.
Cheers guys!! I’ve received my deluxe copy and me and the boy love it 😍 It’s truly amazing how you fit so many cool components into one tiny box!! I was expecting this to arrive in the size of a standard board game..well done..expectations subverted..but in a good way 😍😘😘
First off, Jon, I LOVE your videos. Especially for TE* games. Fantastic! Second, I'm seriously considering the PnP for this so I don't have to wait to play it. Looks really fun...
Confused. At 1:01:00 He uses a melee after a ranged which doesn't counter and still used the counter attack bonus. This also happened at another point in an earlier combat. Wondering if that was a mistake that was never caught or something I missed.
Juan C. Suárez you are correct. We looked more closely. It takes the place of any action to power up the mighty mech but you don’t have to use the power up action card. It’s just a bit confusing because on the play cards the mighty mech upgrade is listed under the power up section.
@@ChelseyWood It doesn't say that it replaces that action you take. It just says "any player in power armor with full health entering the same zone as the mighty mech may choose to immediately take control of it". The only other proviso is that you can't place a mine or turret in a zone with the MM if you're not controlling it (pg11).
It looks really fun and i like the way you discuss the strategy in the end which bring me to understanding that there is much more ways to win in this game that meets the eye , good gamethrew , nicely walked in ...
At 23:42 you say you need to be full health to wear the mighty mech, but I don't see that in the rule book. I'm guessing that rule was dropped between beta and release.
Thanks for the video. I was a day 1 backer but to be honest seeing the gameplay in action is a little different than what I pictured. That’s not a bad thing, rather I think I won’t have a good take on this one until I get it to the table myself.
I think you put in the wrong timestamp. Either way, if there is no adjacent empty spot you then go out one more level to find the closest empty location.
I love the game, thank you sharing. The only problem I see is Ad Hoc mode seems broken, a player can simply purposely retreat, go into Ad Hoc and then have free range of movement and actions. I wonder if the Green player would have done so well is he would have been forced to perform preplanned actions.
I agree on first glance wrt Ad Hoc. Gaining it from retreat really seems powerful. (And also, like, not very programming gamey.) *This wasn't a rule error, was it?*
@@JonGetsGames Since my original reply, I've seen some replies from Gamelyn on BGG and KS. You played the game correctly, still somehow feels like it can be exploited, but I trust in Gamelyn's experience.
No you can not voluntarily retreat! (51:39) See page13 of the new rules (in the game box). Retreats only if you are ko'd or have exhausted all your weapons.
Thanks so much for this great video Jon!! You've saved me space on my shelf and money. It reminds me a little too much of Adrenaline which I really didn't enjoy. Running around battling just for points feel rather pointless to me, so while I'd like to play someone else's copy, I definitely don't need one for myself.
I'm glad you found the video informative. A big reason I make these full playthroughs is to show people how the game feels to play, and no game is for everyone :)
IDK if I have bought a game this fast in my life! I'm super excited for this one. I've largely had mixed feelings about the Tiny Epic series but there's just so many good ideas at play here.
So tiny Mechs vs minions + CGE's Adrenaline. Hmm.... Considering how long those two other games can take to set-up and/or teach - I'm curious about this one, but still only cautiously optimistic. Thanks for the great content, Jon.
At 40:00 you recognize the blue player will activate first, but unless a "stay in the same space" action card exists, he will have to vacate the center big mech space before it is your turn. So you could have loaded up and run amuck. Am I missing something. Btw, not trying to be a jerk questioning your strategy. and I enjoy your content a great deal.
You aren't being a jerk, this is a valid point. There is no way to stay in place, so you are correct that my analysis there wasn't as good as I'd have liked.
On the player boards, on the build mine/turret spaces, there's a 1VP symbol. Maybe I'm being dumb or missed something, but what does that mean? You didn't seem to be giving 1VP when they were destroyed or built, so when does that icon activate?
I noticed this as well and asked about it before filming. It is there to remind you that if the turret or mine knocks out a player, you will then generate 1vp. In this playthrough this never happened so I wasn't able to show it.
You only go back to the base if you are knocked out while in Pilot mode. If you are in the Mighty Mech or the Power suit then you simply retreat one space.
I think this could’ve been far better if the game utilized something similar to The Reckoners game trays. The map grid lay out would have neat little 3D effect to it. One thing about the tiny epic series, is they’ve always been fiddly in one way or another. Each game has at least 2-3 different resource types, sharing the same track.Good thing they’re fun solid/can’t go wrong for the price games. Not hating on them as I AM backing this game. I just wish at least some of their tiny epic titles utilized better sized components.
Really enjoyed video, really wish you hadn’t “taken back” that move around 1:20-ish. Gotta live with the decisions and play ‘as is’. Besides that I really enjoyed it though, thank you.
Yeah, I went back and forth about that. I often redo turns off camera, but this time it seemed good enough just to do a "take back" and move forward. I know that living with decisions is part of gaming, but I often make strategic mistakes while trying to control multiple players and it's important to me to try and make the video entertaining as well as informative :)
Yeah, impossible to argue this. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if you only controlled the 1 instead of all 3? Still...seems a higher fiddly factor than any other ITEMeeples implementation thus far.
I'm not positive, but I am pretty sure that this is because he is playing the game *solo* to show the game play and teach the game. When you play with others you will only control one pilot.
That's not what I meant. When your pilot is "on foot", he has 2 simple weapons attached. Then when he goes into its suit, you have to remove the weapon, put him in the mech, and then reattach the weapon. And if he gets knocked out, reverse that. And if you go into the super mech, remove the heavy weapon from your mech, your meeple, and put all that into the super mech. And then when you get killed, reverse. It's a lot of hassle for just visual "coolness" that doesn't add anything to the gameplay. That's too fiddly.
I'd have to play this one to get better feel. So far from the looks of it it would be at the bottom of the tiny epic games for me. The rest of them are all at least good. It could still be a OK game and be bottom of the tiny epic list.
Good lord! They have done this once (*WITH* overwhelmingly positive support from us backers!) and they still delivered this game over a month early to us! The ONLY reason this happened was due to being able to get it early and having the fortunate luck of having the biggest North American con happening. Grow up and stop being such a whiney . Seriously.
Referring to Tiny Epic Zombies? They asked us (the backers) if that was ok and clearly said they would only do it if over 85% of us said yes. I’d say sorry you got outvoted but I was very happy with that decision, plus backers had access to the premium print n play, PLUS we got our copies a month early. I think that’s a strange reason to pass on a game but to each their own.

Cody Davis The riot shield counters all attacks. He mentions this at 1:01:10.
At 49:00, the way I understand the rules, you have to use a Power Up action to climb into the mighty mech suit, correct?
Yes I believe that is correct.
No, the power up action is required to upgrade from pilot to power armor.
Juan C. Suárez you are correct. We looked more closely. It takes the place of any action to power up the mighty mech but you don’t have to use the power up action card. It’s just a bit confusing because on the play cards the mighty mech upgrade is listed under the power up section.

@12:43 green should have collected 1 credit and 2 energy rather than 2 & 1. not sure if that is corrected further on.
Good catch! Unfortunately this isn't fixed in the video, but I have added a correction to the klingon subtitles.

The score track needs to go higher then 40. Otherwise make first to 40 or 6 rounds triggers end game.
you keep going around the track, going to 41 and going back up the track again.
