I love it how you set up the game so that all aspects of the game are explained. For your turn as the second players turn. Your playthrough is very clarifying. I always check your channel before thinking of buying a game. Keep up the good work Jonathan.
9:15 you should not put a ship on the expedition board before playing the card, therefore "Quick raid" card was played illegally. From official errata: 1. You declare the action, 2. (optional) Play single Boost card OR build a single Field card. 3. Perform the action you’ve declared (even if boost card moved the Clan action pawn to a different Action tile). To play Quick raid you would have to have a ship already on the board from a previous Sail action. Notice if you already had both ships on the board Quick Raid would let you reuse one of the ships, as performing action happens after resolving the boost card. Awesome video btw, very informative!
As usual, your playthrough is very complete and interesting. Your channel is very dangerous for my pocket, I'm very likely to buy this game thanks to the video...thanks any ways, you help me select games that I know I'll like instead of buying stuff I don't want later
I saw this video you made and bought the game because of it. I also shared it with my group to watch prior to playing so I didn't have to teach much. Funny 2 people wanted the red deck.
I dont think anyone comes close to the way you describe how to play games especially the more complex games like Gaia Project, etc. Excellent video as usual!
Beautiful video!! Just a question.... i dont understand how works the card #176 in the Glenn Clan deck. It shows to be played either as a food field or as an upgrade to a food field, but since there are no other food field cards in thst whole deck i wonder when you would be able to use the upgrade ability. How does thid card work?
the bards clan has a card that has the pumpkin on it, this card has two res on it with a / in between them, the rightmost res in on a lighter color like the upgrade one, im not sure how to use this card, its the same res on the cards on both side of the /
Well of course there's a lot of ice, you're playing Empires of the *North* after all. XD But anyway excellent playthrough as usual. I must say the idea of an action wheel provides something unique to the rather formulaic conventions of these civ building card games.

@@NickMcNabb Thanks for that. RUclips is inconsistent with sending me notifications when a reply comes in to a comment and I never saw this reply with the FAQ link. I've added a note about this to the Klingon subtitles now.
The Boardgame industry went through a massive pirate phase about 10 years ago, then it went through a zombie phase and a Cthulhu phase. You don't see pirate games much since the theme was so overused for years, it got played out. It's too bad since I also love pirate theme games. Check out Jamaica, my favourite pirate themed game.
Your videos are awesome, easy to learn rules while watching, but what's with the mic? It cuts all of your words, really bad sound quality :/ hard to listen.

Almost two year with the game and I still love it. This is honestly the best video on this site for how to play this game.

I just found your channel by searching for reviews of this (highly anticipated) game. Your overview style is top notch; keep up the great content.
Thanks! I'm glad you found it informative :)
Thank you for the video!

No, thank you!
A very nice playthrough, as per usual 😀
@20:37 You forgot to take the food generated by exploring.
Excited to see your playthrough of this!

Looks great, thanks Jon! I was hoping they would have made the text bigger as that tiny font in Imperial Settlers really bugs me.
The font we used in EotN is bigger than in IS. Thanks!
I must have this game now.

There are multiple versions of that, so the first you play is for the field and the second would upgrade the first one.
@@JonGetsGames ty very much
Does that action wheel have any thematic explanation?
Unsure, I honestly never spend time thinking about thematic explanations for mechanics :P
How many fields can you build every turn?

They have two of this card so the first will be a production card and if you play the second one then it will upgrade the first.
Nice work! 👏
It's weird that Jon's voice is very soothing... I can use it to meditate. LOL
I find it very false and contrived, and while I like his videos, his voice grates on me hard. It's clearly not his real speaking voice.
is this emperial settlerist of will this play with settlers
It's a stand alone completely different game from Imperial Settlers that shares some ideas as well as the thematic setting.

Agreed, I quite enjoyed that mechanic.
Why wouldn't you use 2 pawns every turn
In a new irata, you now get 1 vp for each raze token you have at the end of the game.
Huh, thats the first I've heard of this. Do you happen to have a link for this? I didn't see anything when I did a search.

Hi John,
Great video :)
Have you ever reviewed the game?
Thanks!
This is the closest thing I've done to a review for this game: ruclips.net/video/c2W5GdfiSF0/видео.html
I keep watching your channel in the hopes Ill see a new cool pirate game. They are not very common for some reason....

This is something that no one else has mentioned, I don't hear any cut off of any words in this video. Not sure what ended up happening for you.
