My mom has worked for JAL for over 30 years and I grew up visiting family in Japan every year flying this route on a 777-300ER. Those journeys are what made me fall in love with aviation as a little kid and I still experience that same childlike joy and excitement boarding these JAL flights as an adult. I've only ever flown in their economy class, so flying JAL First Class long-haul has always been a lifelong dream of mine, so watching these videos are my way of experiencing that. I've been saving up credit card points for years to one day be able to fly this route with JAL's First Class! Hopefully their new A350's will be used on their LAX routes once the last 777's are retired. I'd love to experience that!
Absolutely! It really gives me a good feeling watching other people live lives of luxury as I sit in my squalid apartment getting older and waiting to die.😊
@@GenkisTravels What was the date of your trip? I flew with Japan Airlines from LAX earlier this year and we flew out of the main TBIT gates. It's quite rare to see Japan Airlines or any other airlines depart from the remote gates. But, I think airlines use the remote gates as a last resort if there are scheduling conflicts with other airlines trying to take the main gates at TBIT. Using the remote gates can help reduce delays and allow a quick turnaround flight, which is what your flight did here. A very rare occurrence but can happen.
Yes, I have flown to Japan a couple of times.....on a US Air Force KC-10 when I was in the Air Force. And had to fly back civilian out of Narita (Northwest 747 to Detroit) due to a family emergency. I loved the time I spent there, even though it was DEF not long enough. The people I met were kind, and very nice even though at the time, I knew no Japanese. Hopefully will get to go back soon! Thanks for the wonderful video. And oh yeah.....I wouldn't fly United either. One time was ok, but recently it was....not worth the price savings I got from using another airline.
In March 1986 I flew Flying Tigers 747 from SF to Tokyo then to Osan AB Korea (USAF). We ran into turbulence out of SF which were pretty rough. I guess the Pacific and it's weather patterns do that a lot ! Once we unloaded in Tokyo we headed to Osan Korea served my entire year and never did mid tour (vacation back to the states for 30 days). Was a great flight and year serving in USAF in another country. "Aim High" !!
Great video, good photography....you didn't go fast and allowed us to see everything in full. Surprised about the First Class though. I just flew Qatar Business Class from MEL/DOH/ORD and the cubicles are the same as Japan Airlines. I would have expected a larger space in Japan's First Class. I agree with you about the boarding experience as a First Class passenger -- the remote gate just deflates one's expectations. Re: amenity kit -- Qatar offers most of that stuff for free in their Business Class lavatory except for the lip balm and cream. The men's amenity kit has good sized products but in a leather-like black case. All in all, I'm impressed with the Japanese food offerings.
Don’t think if I could’ve flown for such a long time in the Air😅 but great Video! awesome subtitles, !! Food look great! Thanks for sharing your experience 💚
I couldn't agree with you more about the remote gates taking away from the First Class boarding experience. I've flown to Tokyo on United and ANA. ANA is way much better! Thanks for posting!
Love your video. First time (1956) I landed at Haneda it was a USAF Air Base. Extremely primitive at that time. I flew out from Japan from Haneda after my two and a half year tour. I have been back to Japan many times over the past 50 years and landed at Haneda and Narita. Both are great airports compared to LAX 😊
Yes, I have been to Japan a number of times and though I am dating myself, Haneda was the only airport at the time and my flights in and out were on Pan Am and Northwest Orient and one of Japan Airlines. I love Japan and had hoped to get back before now but my chances are somewhat doubtful. By the way, when you took off from LA you mentioned you were turning East for Japan but didn't you mean West or did I miss something? Thanks for another great video. Take care and stay safe!!!!!
I fly Standby Staff Travel with AA and have been to Japan a few times. I can also fly Standby Staff Ticket with JAL it being part of ONEWORLD but alas in Economy Only.
@@GenkisTravels Before, yes since you have to go to LAX and catch a flight that goes to Manila. But ever since JAL have flight here in San Diego, I have not been flying any airlines except JAL. No need to deal with the traffic in LA plus the long lines in immigration counter . It may be a little bit pricey but its worth it 😊😊
Really outdated looking "First Class" seating product for JAL. Very similar to some Business Class seating being offered now. I had expected more from JAL.
16:50 ended up in the Bay Area before turning east towards Japan - should have been: before turning West (that’s eventually ending up to the east), No? 🤔 (Since Japan claimed they are on the farthest East. ….. have a belated birthday 🎂 🎉 🎁 to you!
as someone who speaks Japanese to an extent (N2), I can say that the green stuff at 23:26 is some peppermint mouthwash (nvm i just found there's English text on it while typing this comment lol). btw great video! how was your trip to Japan? I hope they'll introduce flights from Belgrade to Tokyo around 2026-2027 as said by Air Serbia's CEO.
Sir I am first time seeing the inside view of Air bus and what food and other compliments giving but you are not shown Air hostess why if you shown we very much enjoyed
I love JAL, but damn they keep those cabins hot. I have had to pull down my carry on and change into shorts and a tee several times. But you can't beat JAL. They have ruined all other carriers for me. When I load on an AA plane now, I am as pissed off as the flight attendants are by my presence.

My two favorite airlines are JAL and ANA. I love Japan. 🗻⛩🗼🏯
It's all fantastic :D (Except Peach Airlines lmao)
@@GenkisTravels Peach is a low-cost airline. You get what you pay for.
Flew with Japan airlines. Best experience of any flight by far. 🇯🇵🌸🫶🏾
I want to fly them again. :D
Flew JAL to Japan in 2013. Great people and Airlines so polite and professional
They are great. ANA are also gret
Great video! Gives us people who won't ever be able to experience first class a good glimpse at the good life. Subbed!
Thank you! :)

Loved the lightning show in the distant sky while landing
It was beautiful. I was worried it was going to rain during my trip. Instead, it was a heat wave. lol
WOW I'm amazed they used a remote gate for departure instead of a gate at the terminal in LAX
Yeah it kind of sucked. lol
And actually bussed first class passengers to that gate. What a low brow LAX experience.👎
Yes, this is oddly surprising. TBIT West is fully operational, and yet this remote gate was utilized by Japan Airlines. Something was up.

Haha you’re right, it is west (I guess I’m just use to calling it the far east).
I want to go back to Japan. Maybe in a year or two. :)
A private shuttle is definitely expected for first class, this boarding experience is terrible. But what can you expect from LAX?🤣
I wasn't expecting much but definitely not that. haha
Turning East to Japan??? from California??? LONG DANG FLIGHT!!!

Japan!!!
It's so great :)
I see there was no priority or first class boarding experience. Just the 'privilege' of being first on the bus..

Only serve Champagne Salon departing from Japan?
Why was the caviar not serve at meal time?
Not sure to be honest. I was a little surprised (happen on Qatar too)

Yep! And it has a new first class
Wow. That was a 30 minute of taxin to the runway
And yet some people want me to not speed up the taxi. :D
Wow, this first class cabin and pod are totally underwhelming. To be honest, the only thing going for the pod is space.
Yep. It's a bit of a throne (width wise). Their new first class seat looks much more interesting, a lot more refreshed.
👏👏👏👏👏

ANA is all nippon airways

I just recently flew Hawaiian and they were amazing :)
To HND with SAS.
