I bought all colors of faux suede from Joann’s and made the Sage pants from Stylearc patterns. They wash up nicely and I throw it in the dryer on low with no problems.
That is great to hear! I used a fusible hem tape on my seams to make them press neater and I worry about it disintegrating. Maybe I’ll wash a test swatch and see what happens!
A lot of faux suede fabrics are made from polyester. If I were you, I'd take a leftover scrap and serge the edges and throw it in the washer and dryer. I'm not suggesting you dry the coat in the dryer, but it would be good for you to see what the fabric would be like in the worst case scenario. I'm sure you have all the skills you need to make this coat. Making practice welt pockets is generally something that even very experienced seamstresses do, because getting them to work is some fabrics is more challenging than others. Big projects are really just a lot of smaller steps added together. I think you're going to do a great job and your coat is going to be so lovely.

This going to come out nice. I've used remotes as pattern weights. 😄
😂 I keep telling myself I should buy a set of pattern weights but it’s hard to justify when anything works!
Love the color of the suede you got!
Oh thank you!

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! I am totally going to wash up a swatch and see what happens!
Cell phones also make great pattern weights 🤪
Totally!!
