      Totally worth it if you're dead set on keeping the truck for a while, especially if you ditch the stock tune for a proper one. You will never wanna go back to N/A. 91 Octane costs an extra 10-12 bucks for a full tank at the pump (chump change).

    Since you're still in break in mode, when you get to the 2nd part of this story, can you tell us how you got past the rev-limiter issue. When I put the 529 gears on mine, it revs and pulls so fast it hits the redline and cuts fuel to the engine. Please let us know. Thanks, oh and to Jeff h... just the gear change alone made mine feel like my tundra. I tested pulling over 10000 lbs on my uncle's trailer, and it had zero problems doing it. Of course it's not set up to pull that much wait, so I won't do that, but it pulled it with ease. I can definitely tell you with a supercharger and the gear change, that thing is more than a V8. Just because the horsepower numbers are lower, doesn't mean it translates to less power or speed

    A supercharger on a high compression motor isn’t really worth it better off with a different motor they should of put a small v8 from factory anyways but the 3.5 is a good overbuilt motor and will last a long time

    • @AntilleanConfederation
      @AntilleanConfederation 2 года назад +22

      I’m ever so pissed that Tacoma never gets a v8 option. It would steal sales from the tundra and that is the only reason. With a updated v8 it would pull better mpg also. A corvette gets amazing mpg because that motor don’t need much to get it moving. Same applies to this. A taco with a v8 would be a near perfect truck.

The labor is said to be $150 hours, and the job takes a solid 10 hours to complete, regardless of which supercharger you use. So you're looking at close to $10,000 when you factor in everything.

    Yeah for only an additional $12k on top of the outrageous $35+k that truck goes for !! Of course this price is for manual windows and no stereo equipped model !!! Smh

      No stereo and manual windows?! Wtf are you talking about 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The Sr has power everything and definitely comes with a radio. The only thing you miss is the few extra screens on the gauge cluster and possibly the turn signals in the mirrors 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This ain’t 1980 where you had to option everything 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

    All to make less power than an F150 Ecoboost on 87 octane. What a sleeper 😂 And with the dog shit gearing in the transmission, those 5.29’s barely even give it shorter overall gear ratios than an F150 with 3.55’s in the axles

    NEVER worth the money, 2GR was not built for boost. If you really want “power”, built 1GR swap and turbo. The 1GR was overbuilt and has much better compression for both supercharger and turbo

    Kiss your engine goodbye soon. Toyota hadfsr to many failures when they offered supercharged options on their trd lineups.

      That was never the problem. They shut down the TRD Supercharger program because it wasn't as profitable anymore. There are still individual dealerships that work directly with Magnuson to offer them.
