Good to see this once again ... R1: snow + Ankara being mentioned twice on the cover made me go there R2: Didn't look close enough in Wellington to find "East" but found Victoria Street, so went there anyway. Had the same feeling as Monko on the cars looking 70s R3: Home country, only few days ago, easy catch ... P.S. the logo on the shopping bag is "Rossmann", German drugstore chain ... PPS: The beer bottle is Gösser-beermix (although it might as well say Pisswasser and be from GTAV) ... PPPS: The hill is "artifical", made from debris for the '72 olympics in Munich R4: I was pretty sure these flags were French ... gues they were both ... but then again we were close to the border R5: Decided against Rome due to rather empty streets ... shouldn't have done lol. And again ... I have the same car problem as Monko ended up with 46,682 overall
Well, you both beat me. 8346 (7yr/2km - couldn't find the date on the newspaper and went wrong end of presidential term but felt it was more likely to snow in this city) - 6000 (16yr/16m - got the place easy enough, but the cars caught me out) - 8690 (0yr/810km - had heard that there was a concert in Poland before the cancelled one(s) and thought it might be there) - 9291 (0yr/209km - went too close to the coast) - 8973 (1yr/477km - right country but wrong city) = 41,300
1) I hesitate between Istanbul and Ankara. Snow is not rare in Istanbul, but not that common either, and these people looks quite familiar with snow, so I am going to Ankara, 2019 (6,939). 2) Victoria Street East, Auckland, NZ, 1988 (9,950). 3) “2024” in a Taylor Swift t-shirt, but I see people as too old for a Taylor Swift concert. Could this have something to be with the cancellation in Vienna due to terrorist threats a few days ago? I have no more clues than that, so off to Vienna, 2024 (9,148). 4) It seems that this is one of the celebrations after the liberation of France in 1944, but the question is where. I also can not tell whether the flag is French or Belgian. It does not look like Paris and the architecture is typical from very North France. Actually, we are probably in Belgium, and in this doubt, I am going to the border. Lille, France, 1944 (9,813). 5) Italy, and in the absence of further clues, I must go to Rome during the prosperous years of Fascism, 1937 (9,911). FINAL SCORE: 45,761 Remarks: - Stupid of me I could not find the date in the paper in 1). Now also looking at the newspaper more calmly, I see Paris Hilton as quite young. Anyway… - I thought that Taylor Swift was just a teenage thing. I do not know a single song by her. I am reading now that hill in the Olympic Village of Munich is very popular for concerts and other events. - In 5) I remember that in my childhood. It was common to take a bottle of wine or some sweets to the neighbourhood guards at Christmas time. Nowadays it would be a scandal, constituting a corruption offence. Old times... - Love these head-to-head rounds. Please keep on it from time to time (and also bonus rounds).
Nummer1 here....am I the only one that constantly has issues lately with maps not loading, round results not properly displaying. Sometimes a reload works but often times not and I don't want to restart :-( Kind of discouraging
