Andrè is a national treasure here in the Netherlands. I grew up with his shows. I even met him on one occasion, a very nice guy, very humble and down to earth. Probably one of the most respected Dutch celebrities ever. I can't remember that someone ever said something bad about him. And on top of that he can literally do anything, he hosts tv shows, made the most amazing cabaret shows and he's also a very versatile actor.
I'm born in 1969 and I grew up when we only had two tv channels, Netherlands 1 and 2 and it was still in black and white. Andre van Duin and The Mounties (tip!!!) were the superstars of Dutch TV back then.
From 1967 till current... he is one of the biggest here inThe Netherlands. Never at cost of anyone, never any controverse.
From the 'working class' to the 'intelectuals' - in all groups and classes his fans are plenty.
that is not true..he had this program..with guests...animals that could do " special things" ..and the reason why i stoped watching him..is because he wás making fun of those people...sometimes people that were not " all there "....

@@ilse3887that was part of that show. Everybody attend in that show knows. It was the only reason that that show was funny.
He had some trouble with people working at institutes for mentally challenged people, because of a song called 'Willempie' and its video clip. When he received the criticism, he basically stated that he wanted to make fun FOR and WITH them, not OF them. In this song he plays a mentally challenged guy who keeps everything simple, doesn't care much about the more complicated world around him and loves to be seen and cheered for by all the people in his enviroment. It may look like he makes fun of mentally challenged people, but he is showing someone who is just enjoying life in his own simplified way and doesn't need much of anything to be happy. I guess his intention was to show that he supports these people and that many of their characteristics are actually a gift instead of a handicap, because most people without their challenges expect so much more from life to feel good than they do. It's just a joy to watch these people react to the simple things they really like or are very good at doing. We can all learn quite a few things from them. As far as I know, the people living in these institutes loved him for doing this. The people who worked there were the ones that complained.
As a Dutchman, I really appreciate how well this sketch translates into English.
Also a little supprised that it worked out so well.

Great how an American can appreciate the humor of Andre van Duin. Did you know he has been a big fan of Laurel and Hardy since childhood?
The music at the beginning comes from a Kodak (photo camera and celluloid!) commercial: geef mij maar een kodak cadeau, kodak cadeau, kodak cadeau (give me a Kodak cadeau as a birthday present) It is well known for everyone who lived then. It keeps popping up in your mind.

I grew up with Andre van duin he is a legend . I am 52 years old and the shows he didn’t where on Saturday evening and when I was at my grandparents house to sleepover it was a big happening matras cola and chips . Good old times and memories… i love how you appreciate the humor of Dutch biggest comedian ❤

'Chagrijnig tiep' is definitely one I still use.
'Uitbundig en spontaan' also comes out of my and my husband's mouth regularly while taking pictures. (Husband was made in the same year)

great sketch :) I loved watching Andre Van Duin as a kid, but i don't think i've never seen this one before.
André is the best of the best. And he rarely ever falls out of character. His co players however….He was known to improvise a lot and through that the people on stage with him could be laughing to tears and hardly come out of that..😂
Alot of André s inprov was scripted. And he had a trick to not get out of character. he never looked in the eyes of the other players. but looked at there forhead.

I still love this old school comedy. I grew up with Andre and for me he is a world wonder!

Such an inspiration to both young and older generations because he just takes you on a tour of pure silliness making it very difficult not to laugh!

This sketch is unfamiliar to me. When I saw the title De fotograaf, I thought of a sketch by Andre together with Frans van Dusschoten, in which Andre’s character had to have his picture taken inside a Photo Booth, and each time the photo was taken, he managed to leave the booth only a second earlier, which drove the character of Frans van Dusschoten to despair!

The music is from an old kodac commercial
He's so awesome, i grew up with al his shows. The best ones are with Corrie van Gorp (RIP) she was his lifetime friend. Always loved that André almost every shows stired away from the script and started improvising. Wich made the others confused but the went allong with it.😂
The music in the beginning was from commercial from Kodak, one of the manufacturers of photographic equipment. It's called the photographer, not photograph

Actually Andre played the same type of guy over and over. there were some variations, but it wasbasicly the same kind of comedy.
onlt later in life he proved to be a character player too. Quite an accomplisment because he did not have much professional education in acting. His education was as a machinist.
His biggest inspiration was Danny Kaye
