4xOverland is the world's first global 4WD adventure off-road motoring channel. Established in 1996, it is hosted by well-known 4x4 writer, explorer and filmmaker, Andrew St Pierre White. AKA: ASPW. - Авто/Мото
Watched and listened to u2 uttering words only children of Fathers with or even without the means to buy a classic would say... I soaked up every word then watched the vid again and again. I'm now on my third, 3.9 , 3.9, 4,2 YES an LSE.... plan to camp/drive Marroco November... God help us all...
I had a 3.9 west minister grey vogue se, cloth seats, factory coils and the 5 speed. It was an absolute pleasure. Far better than the 88 auto highline I also had and the 80 Bahama gold 2 door. The viscous coupling went on the 93 and at the time I couldn’t afford the replacement. Sold it and now I’m in a series 3 88”. Fun but not a Rangie
Hey andrew at least you could observe from the outside the rangie kickimg arse over dunes

Is it possible to retrofit air conditioning to the classic Range Rover? I imagine there is plenty of space to work with and after market components seem readily available.
The Americans often seem to squeeze a/c into classic car builds as a necessary upgrade.
Mpg around town might not be great but you get plenty of smiles per gallon.
Hey andrew donyou remember how.much the rangie burnt across the canning?
I can't remember exactly, but it was less than the FJ! If you watch the series, we filled up half way and I show the consumption figures. Not terrible by any means.
...is this the swearer
Esperance to Ceduna in the Rang Rover.
The reason LR started welding RRC body frames in 86 was the bolted construction didn't comply with US safety regulations.
A very interesting interview Andrew. I love the classic Rangies especially the two door models but the later ones do seem to give the best value. A lot of car for the money, I think.
Good luck. Hope you’ll share some content of it if and when you get it.
Would it be possible to rebuild a 4-door body with 2-door structural/body panels to then have a “newer” 2-door. Particularly here in America, 2-doors are very few and far between. So, I have always been curious if it could be done.
I also second the vote for Andrew to go with a later model Range Rover
It is entirely possible, Land Rover themselves produced a factory limited edition two door in this way. If you Google 'Range Rover CSK' (Charles Spencer King) you'll find plenty of photos of the factory version.
And even poor ones are very expensive.
@@4xoverland Yes, the CSKs poisonously so. My comment was more to answering the question of the possibility of building a two door on a late Rangie Classic chassis though, and it can most certainly be done if someone has the will and means.
Strangely my generally mint 1978 RR with sub 7,000 miles on it is four door , with suspicions this was done by LR Special Vehicles early in its life. A hell of a lot of work I think to return it to 2 door. Better to acquire a 2 door I think if wanting originality?
@@philhealey4443 Italian coach-builders Monteverdi did a limited run of four door Range Rover conversions for Land Rover starting around then. The going rate for them at the time was roughly double the price of the two door cars. One of the easiest ways to pick a Monteverdi car is the rear door skin doesn't divide the rear wheel arch, rather the door goes around the profile of the arch, not through it. If you've got one of those it's a highly collectible piece.
Daily driver....a Jimny !
Thank you Andrew, Richard has a new subscriber to his channel.
Thank you Andrew for allowing me to express my passion. Have you got a 4 door yet?
Not yet. This is my busiest time of year and so have not given it much thought for now. I'm leaving for a 7-week Africa trip in 4 weeks, and trying to get my Landcruiser built here for an Aussie trip in July. So I'm a tad pressed.
Is there a link to his channel?
