Having owned a Corolla GTS of both the ae86 and ae92 generations that first one disappoints me shifting that low. 480k miles on my 88 GTS and that thing saw redline daily.
@@negativeindustrial Both are really solid, I wouldn't say either is better, it all comes down to preferences. To be fair mine is also quite modded so I'll trust you if you say stock suspension is worse, but I mod any car I get so it all comes down to modding potential for me.
@@googlemenoww Well, we sort of have that in that 4 cylinder iteration of the Supra. Meanwhile, the GR86 I would imagine is the spiritual successor to the AE86?
Having a manual MR-S myself I can confirm that the SMT is indeed a decent bit slower but realistically with proper measuring tools the best a stock Mrs can do is 8 sec flat, maybe high 7s. :D
Even allowing for sub-optimal gear shifts, perhaps the 4A-GE Mk1 (N/A version) in the video has lost a few horses over the years. The 0-100 kph time is too slow. I did 80,000 miles in mine in the late 80's. It should be between 7.5 and 8 seconds.
They never SENDS the Mk1 in these types of videos and it really bothers me. When i sent mine it was 7K RPMs clutch drop and everything. 0-100 in 6.0 seconds
Man i wish i could have submitted my 3rd gen 3s-gte 1994 MR2 GT-S for this vid. Im making at least 20% more power+torque than the USDM one in the vid, and probably more than 1 full second faster at quartermile than it too.
The first video wasn’t a good example first of all the dude didn’t launch it and then he was shifting well below the redline and granny shifting .. just a terrible video and the OTHER videos were not stock example mr2s either
@@VikiGarage SW20 3S-GTE 200HP is 100% not stock. I think video with Supra's acceleration was your too and was not accurate at all. Mk2 and Mk3 supra was tuned like here some of mr2.

Nice
Nice
Looks like you never had the AE82.
That supercharged mk1 is where it's at. Tiny car, 7500k redline, decent power, and the right sounds.
Is mk1
@@Sebastian_castillo Thank you, I fat fingered that one.
absolutely man, i have one and its a perfect all rounder, never driven anything more fun
I’ve owned both. The MKII turbo is an improvement in every conceivable way.

YOU DID US DIRTY WITH THAT SMT PULL!!
Sorry man 😅
I had mk2 3 years ago, amazing car!
My conclusion: Bad drivers
The first and second gen MR2’s are so beautiful but the last gen was kinda disappointing but I still miss having an affordable mid engine car.
Very good acceleration ♥️♥️♥️ I love Toyota Mr2
Me too!
Such a big toy! 🤩
Sw20 drivers knew what to do
New subscriber 😍 keep going
The last generation is with automatic transmission, it feels slower, M/T is the way.
Thank gosh Toyota is going to bring back the MR-2 in 3 years. (Let's hope it won't be a disappointment like the GR Supra).
@@Vtec_Just_Kicked_In_Yo can you imagine celica RWD? It would be game changer

The mk3 was an SMT not the Manual transmission, MT would have hit 6.8 - 7.0 sec 0 - 100km easy
Yeah, right.
@@deadalive7311 I do believe the manual transmission would be quicker, as there is a fairly noticeable delay in the SMT changing gears.

Forgot about the sw20 5sfe motor option for the US market

Haha the 3rd gear synchro of the 4agze aw11 is due for replacement, that might shave another 0.2+ sec off the 0-100 sprint...

Really short shifting them and not launching them properly. All of these cars are faster than this.
you forgot the one mk3 with the 2zz-ge engine
oh yeah, I forgot about that one :)
there's no factory mk3 with 2zz they are all swaps
Yeah, that’s not factory my boy
0-60 3 to 4 business days. At least it is reliable and fun !
Both JDM versions for the MR2 Turbo (220 & 240bhp) would have showed much better times
The MK3 MR2 looks like a Porsche Carrera GT
Sc MR2? Btw the sc in the old MR2 means supercharger
Mk2 to mk3 was the biggest disappointment in motoring
fully agree mate, even that fact that they did not made turbo version for mk3
My mk1 mr2 3sge swap 0-100 to 7.0 sec
