- Iranian Mozhgan Moarefizadeh and Abdullah Sarwari from Afghanistan are both refugees living in Indonesia with an uncertain future. But that hasn't stopped them from helping other refugees who, like themselves, have been denied education and work. Read their story: cna.asia/2Rp7Yp2
Helping someone is good and it shows a great depth of understanding the relationships between you and other people. I wish it were possible to help the world, but unfortunately it will need good people's determination to break the illusion and its vicious cycle of misunderstanding.

I am an Afghan, I can't say that in Afghanistan and Iran life is very similar to most Asian countries. But I can't judge for individuals.because life is so complicated and uncertain. But overall refugees need special attention.

As an Indonesian I would say, government will take care of you once we solve our own problems. Whatever you get now is whatever the government can provide. About no job and uncertainty of the future, I can only say that's the risk of being refugee you deal with. At least you are at more peaceful circumstances compared with terrible prosecutions you might get at your own country. So, please don't stick with demanding more things which only eventually might result to another conflict in here. So while you stay here waiting for the resettlement just do anything useful for yourself and your people.

@@Dreamformeable he's right. Most Indonesian can't even find job. I often saw kids as young as 13 looking for job because their parents no longer working and can't provide them, let alone education. It is getting worst now that we have pandemic.
You should ask the UNHRC why they doesn't resettle them, despite these refugee living literally in the roadside in front of their office.

There are more 2 millions Indonesian living under 2 dollars a day, those number are incomparable to the number of refugee currently living in Indonesia. Indonesia is Muslim, but they're far from Qatar or other gulf country! Those allies of yours never take any refugee and your government are profiting them.

I know someone who badly needs help because she's about to be homeless because she has no money to pay her rent and nobody will be paying for her anymore. How can she find shelter. cross culture, when one culture meet another culture from another country. it's okay if the local meet another tribes from indo, they still have some 'indo culture'. but when they meet foreigner that never expected to be in their areas, it can be chaos if indo gov can't control it. plus cisarua is not international tourist place, there is no interaction with foreigner people before it. @@geder.n.8100
@@navalprastyo7999 the thing is, I did voluntary work with refugee. Almost all of them told me that they loved indonesian people and their way of life. Often times they said that they prefer to live next to local indonesian rather than with another refugee, since the local people can indirectly teach them indonesian language or just sharing their stories outside this limbo of refugee life.

the thing is, Indonesia is a developing country. Heck even many of the poorer citizens don't have that luxury to get better jobs, education, and medical treatment.
what we have done in afghanistan actually so we deserve this? my people working hard abroad as contract workers working on construction or cleaning human waste, tending old people for some years some get abused , raped and killed and others havent been home for some years? why running from your own country instead trying to fix it?

Do you see us be refugees to other country? Only handful. No matter how hard the circumstances in our country, we DONT RUN!. We fought and stayed. Maybe handful runs away, but none as many as yours. Seen the wounds in my granparents' body (my maternal grandmother still have whips wound marks in her back, my paternal grandmother gunshot wound mark, my paternal grandfather have his left feet broken in 2 places by kempetai, albeit my maternal grandfather had died when I was born, my mother said he have several gunshot wound mark resulting from Netherland, japan and civil wars), suffered under great famine, civil wars (DI TII/PERMESTA in 1960-1979, the pki mass massacre in 1965-1980) and i personally had lived under Suharto regime, witness and almost being a victim of 98 riot, not only in Jakarta mind you, with threat of anykind of perceived resentment toward the regime, you'd be go missing tommorow. Take that as you will, if you think those are not WAR. Eventough if you from ex-colony nations, you would not dare to state that colonizations are like "walk in the park", being slave labour and perceived to be beneath of dog and all ).
We dont run. We presevere, not because we cannot run to other country, but because we know this is our home. And nobody will defend it but us. I belongs to minority in Indonesia, personally have been threatens with personal, economic and religious harms (altough I dont believe in religion), at work I faced several times of bombing threat (1999, 2006, 2010),but I am still here. I will not runs away anywhere. Even if the hardlines Islamic regime take control of Indonesia, they'd know that their fellow countrymen are decendants of fighters.

Exactly, they like stateless, can't do nothing and waiting for uncertainty for many years or possibly forever even worst if get send back to their country, if they smart enough and still single they can find love and marry local, be citizen and live like normal people again. But some of them just arrogant and stuborn enough want to live in "western country" to have that first world privilege.

Why not become Indonesian citizen? Indonesia is a good country to live in with lots of opportunities. It's a democracy and a safe country. Start a restaurant with local food from your country. Teach the kids Bahasa Indonesia so they can communicate.
