Another benefit of going with the DIY battery system is that if one component fails you just replace that component. You can also upgrade each component as needed/wanted.
Hi! I'm Jackson from The Teenage Overlander RUclips Chanel, I'm 13. Your videos are awesome, and they help give me so many ideas and encourage me to keep going with my channel! Thank you so much!
Just got my Li Time batteries this week! I got 2 230 AH! I'll be running some Redarc goodies soon! Glad to see you running the Li Time, makes me feel like I made a good choice!
My Li time battery arrived int the mail today after weeks of debating between these exact two options. Thanks for verifying my purchase! I feel so much better lol
Another great video. Many videos with similar comparison, but of course, bits of this one seem to stand out. Having said that, I would love to see a video of how it makes sense to have both and how they compliment each other for inputs and outputs.
I would love to see an in depth guide to how you set up and built your aux battery set up. I’ve been thinking about doing one by self there’s just so much to learn before I do. You always do a good job of explaining and making things easy to understand!
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I was about to ask if there is a resource that you recommend for learning 12 volt systems and how to wire all this stuff up. I know zilch about electrical anything but want to be able to add things to my rig. Thanks!
I think your comments about portability only make sense if you use the lifepo4 battery with a full setup that is similar to the full bluetti setup. Not everyone needs to do this however. I use a battery 200 ah Renogy lifepo4 to run my fridge with a direct connection. It will easily run more than a week, and usually twice this. Of course this will be affected by warmer temperatures than when I go, which does not get even into the eighties most days. It’s also very portable when used this way. I also have an ecoflow delta 2 max. The parasitic draw from the ac or dc being on is a real problem. A problem my Renogy battery does not have. I enjoyed the video as usual. Everything has so many options today, much is good to have.
I recently got the AC180 & my biggest issue with it is that I can’t power up my diesel heater with the 12V socket. I had a much smaller Jackery that could. Blows my mind.
I’m building 3 solar lithium generators myself now. A 1500w, 750w, and a straight 12v box for charging small devices. Pennies on the dollar compared to these turn key systems.
The area needed to build a system with inverter, the power station would win. Most mid-size power station stations have a 12V 30A output, which could be integrated into the vehicles aux 12v system. Pecron has a 500W charger, which will function with most power stations. Etaker has just released a 1000W vehicle/solar charger.
I already have 2-100ah Li time batts from my trolling motor. Mine aren't Bluetooth and I don't believe the bms is heated for winter camping ,but probably wouldn't do that anyway. So a 2000 W inverter is enough for your rig?
Great food for thought on power options. Perhaps I missed the episode - Id dig to see or hear of some thoughts/considerations/ or what you are using to run power directly to your RTT? Ive already drilled holes into the base of my RTT for such - but I felt like I had to wing it because I wasn't getting the answers I needed. With that said - perhaps you could shed some light for others that might wish to do the same.
My question is can I add a redarc or othe DCDC charger to a genisis dual battery set up. I am deleting the aux battery and want to add, and be able to upgrade, a battery in my bed like you've done.
Hey, I follow you on RUclips and have a question about a setup that I’m doing. I’m hoping you give me some input… I have a passenger van that I’ve converted into a mobile studio. I need a powerstation to provide power to lights and possibly a monitor and computer. Initially I will not have solar panel on the roof and will taking inside to charge when need. I’ve been watching videos on all the brands. I’m looking at options between 2000 and 2500 wh. I’ll be using about 270 to 350w at any giving time. Looking at Jackery, Ecoflow, Anker and Davison 2300 to be exact. I didn’t anything on you channel about this one.
Doing a 200ah in my suburban and got the 1058wh ecoflow for 50% off, question how is the renogy so far I've read many reviews they are mixed I was looking at the victron 50a it is 360 on Amazon but reliability is the name of the game at times. The eco flow has 3 usb c ports and 3 usb a if I'm correct (don't have it infront of me)
Great video. If I were in your position as a AAA RUclipsr or a full time rubber tramp/vanlifer building a permanent system is the solution. If however you rolled back the clock to when you were a weekender with a couple weeks vacation time a year and the vehicle was a daily driver would you still lean towards a custom built system. This is the debate I enter into with my wife and myself with every addition. It’s a much more nuanced decision in the “every man” case. BTW, love loved the Flattops series but wish you hadn’t made it, if you know what I mean - lol 😉.
Excellent questions. For me it would depend on my vehicle and how I use it daily. If I kept a fridge in my rig 24/7 I'd do the aux battery just for peace of mind on the fridge. They are super handy to have when going to the grocery store and keeping drinks in your vehicle. It would also depend on my space. Do I have unused space that could hold the batteries and not take up extra cargo space full time. If the answer to both those are no, then I'd use a power station and wire in Bluetti's new Charger 1 to keep it charged while I'm out with it.
Have you had problems with your charger and inverter being exposed to the elements in Sulley? I don’t have a cab and I’m worried about water/snow and those parts.

You can plug in that Renogy DC to DC charger into the solar input of your bluetti and charge it as well at 40 amps.

I also have a AC180, and just bought a PECRON 500W car charger to charge it quickly on the go. First trip coming up next week, we'll see how it goes.
Im looking to do something similar but I can’t find the battery cables with the proper input to the pecron charger

As I'm out here in the 100 degree Florida heat installing a power system into our new Gladiator!

Nice 👍, glad I stuck around for this one. I found it really helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Good timing on this video. I'm trying to figure which route I want to take in my Power Wagon.
I have been considering changing my setup so good timing and good information thanks brother.
Glad to help

You could design tremor-proof modular rack & vehicle system for both power stations and aux batteries. You know best what is needed.
Matt- very good information. I would love to know more about your bed rack. Do you have a video on which one you chose ?

Do you wire the outlets straight to the aux battery or do you have a switch panel like in the front of the Jeep?
For now they are straight to the battery but I will add a switch system soon so I can turn them off.
Is the fridge straight wired to the battery or do they go through aux plug?
@@scottrockett2279 straight to battery.
