    In 2014 I had 3.89s, Tru Trak and 35 spline axles swapped into my 74 F100. It had a stock 351W and Lentech AOD. The valetrain was going out, then the oil pump the third time I drove it after the gear swap. I had a reman 351W, Gt40-P heads, Comp XE262 and spider, roller rockers, Rhoads lifters, gear drive, Edelbrock performer, Davis Unified HEI, Holley SA770, flex fan and 302 style air cleaner with 3" K&N element put together. Next is lower gears in the AOD, then sway bars.

      @michaeltaylor5451 2 года назад +1

      Yeah, pulled the lower intake off my '95 F250 with the 5.8 and the fore-most bolts stayed in the heads as I loosened them. Don't know what Ford engineers were thinking with that design. The option was to have the heads redrilled and heli-coiled or go aftermarket. Those bolts rust-welded themselves in place, there was no saving them. I have a feeling the water pump cover is going to give me the same type of grief.

    It's been awhile since this video came out where in the world did you get the idea to point the number one cylinder to the back of the engine. The number one cylinder is on the back of the engine. Even though Ford doesn't know how to number their cylinders, you'll always point the rotor towards the number one cylinder. But I've only been working on cars since 1964. I've never seen anybody fail to do that. The only time that changes is on a Chrysler product where they are smart enough to actually design the distributor to only go either in Phase or out of phase by 180°.
    I have never watched any of these people on RUclips, nobody, show how to phase a distributor that slightly out of phase. And there is a procedure for that.
    And everybody makes too big a deal out of a little bit of dry rot on tires. Pray some 303 protectant on it, even on the tread let it dry overnight and leave it the hell alone. If you think they're a bit dry do a second application.

    I would be surprised if you got 400hp at the crank with that compression ratio those parts and that particular Ford engine.
    Which may be why we didn't see any dyno numbers.
    The 351 Windsor is a reliable enough light truck or base car engine in it's day.
    Getting one to make a bunch of hp is difficult BECAUSE among other things the bottom end. And the top end.
    What your bujld may have accomplished is possibly 325 hp at the crank and around 250 260 at the wheels.
    Almost ANY other small block engine in this displacement range makes more power easier than the 351Windsor .
    Frankly I'd rather start with a 300 Cid inclined 6 Ford .
    Or a stroker 302 Windsor .
    Or a 351 Cleveland 2 or 4 bbl engine.
    Or a SBC OR
    a 360 Chrysler.

    • @danmallery9142
      @danmallery9142 2 года назад +1

      You must have had some bad experiences with 351s. I think 375-400 is a reasonable goal with setup. They aren't going for max hp here anyway. Seems like they are going for something more streetable. Also, you haven't seen dyno runs because they haven't gotten to that point in the series yet. Making power with a 351 is easy because the stock heads are so bad a top end with a reasonable cam makes a ton more power than stock. Heck, check out Richard Holdner's junk yard dyno runs. He pulled a junkyard 351 and put on heads, cam, intake and made over 450. His cam was a lot wilder and I think it might have been a roller but probably wasn't worth 50 HP. Funny you mentioned you would rather do a stroked 302. A 302 is essentially a higher deck height 351 with a much weaker block so whatever shortcomings a 351 has, a 302 has them and the bottom end can handle about 250 less HP.
