You've become my favorite of those who does reactions. And one of only, I think, like 3 (or probably even 2) of them that I actually subscribed to. Thanks for taking the time to combine all the videos, for kind and thoughtful words and sharing things about yourself as well. It's so nice that you're already sharing his music with others too. And yeah, "вот это да" haha :D Great that you've also learned some Russian along with it! Так держать :)

Spectacular but sad Kazakh song with 100 dombra players & Dimash leading the group. Dimash is such an incredible multi-talented artist with the most magnificent incomparable voice of all time. I believe his dad Kanat wrote the lyrics & dad’s friend composed the music. Dimash of course sings it with so much emotion flawlessly & beautifully. He is the greatest singer of all time. He was very emotional during Daididau as it was his first big concert, and at home, after The Singer competition. To see somebody cry from pure emotion is a beautiful thing. He is just the most wonderful young man. Us Dears are an emotional and totally biased lot, as you might have noticed. The whole Bastau concert was extremely emotional for Dimash. It was his first major solo concert. It was in his home country and he had managed to get many people from different countries to visit his country. This made several big dreams come true for him. This song and the fact that the audience sang with him even made him cry in the end. Carrying the culture of his country into the world has been one of his dreams.
The concert in the USA was another moment when dreams of him came true and he was also very emotional.
I think it's great that he can show feelings on stage, not just with his singing.

Unfortunately you missed the Story behind "Daididau" on the Gloria Wu channel as you stopped the video too soon. I suggest you rewatch the whole of Gloria Wu's version as he was NOT sick on this occasion. He was Sick when he sang 'Daybreak" on the Singer series. I suggest when you react to "Daybreak" that you do the whole Gloria Wu channel version with back-story, then immediately watch his Bastau concert version which is Out Of This World! Just listen to us and we'll help you understand these classic performances by the world's greatest singer/artist/performer. t agree and it was an unforgettable experience when I attended his concert in New York Just imagine the dream of a Kazakh boy who wants to introduce his country, which is not well known to the world. That was Dimash’s dream and we witnessed the proud and emotional moment of his realized dream. What is amazing is he was able to have so many people from all over the world singing with him in his native tongue. That was my best memory of the concert.
Moreover, this is like a story of a small guy fighting vs. Goliath (the record music industry that poisoned the youth with their trash).

You didn't get the back story as you stopped the video too soon and missed it, I really thought you were also going to cut off the end of the performance too, you need too wait for him to finish as he often pauses before the end. Plus you can miss things if you are not patient. He wasn't sick in the singer version, that was Daybreak which you really, really have to watch from his Bastau concert. His concert versions are always incredible, Bastau concert was huge, 40,000 people I believe. It was the biggest and best concert Kazakhstan has ever had, until his 2019 Arnau concert. Dimash sang for over 3 hours solo in his concert and this was in the middle of it in a very hot Kazakh summer, so he sweats a lot. His had a problem with his in ear on this occasion, but he often removes his left one. He was so proud to have performed this song with words that mean so much to his country that he cried at the end. We live him so much for his openess with his emotions. He is just awesome ❤

Hi! Dimash is a fan of everyone they name and Michael Jackson, Lara Fabián and many highly respected Kazakh musicians.
He has that incredible mastery because he studied from preschool to graduating from his country's University of Arts. He trains every day and before the age of 20 he practiced swimming (he is able to cross the pool underwater without many problems) in addition to Tae Kuon Do.
He is very disciplined and that talent of his, that angel, that warmth, his physical and personal beauty made him a prodigy of a man. I call it "Hurricane Dimash" because it is unstoppable and I always say "Long live the new King" From Chile, Welcome to the world of Dimash "Dear"!

Of course you're a Dear! We all knew that! 😂 And it's fun to introduce Dimash to people, as Dears, we want Dimash to be known throughout the world. Dimash is a world star, it's only a matter of time. He's going to take over the planet! ♡♡♡
Daididau is very emotional and very personal to him. When I watch this particular performance, it's like watching an Olympian receiving his gold medal. Even if you're not from that country, you end up teary eyed for that winner. Dimash has single handedly introduced Kazakhstan to the world. ♡
Dimash channels a lot of his idols. You can see it in a lot of his performances. The 2 obvious ones are definitely MJ and Mercury. His engagement with the crowd is another thing that you will see more of when you complete the singer series.
When I saw him in NYC last winter, the whole stadium sang in Mandarin, Russian, Kazakh, & English for him! It was a magical, magical evening! ♡

I kind of wished that people would have told you to do a double reaction. Kind of makes me sad that you missed the Singer version of this song. I hope you go and at least watch it on your own.
Daididau is special to the Kazakh people because not only has it reached folk status but it involves the history of their country. Kazakhstan has only been an independent country for about 28 years. Before that, they were under Soviet Union. So there were times of great struggle and war, famine, persecution and pain there.
This song specifically was written by a Kazakh poet and teacher, Magzhan Zhumabayev, who was imprisoned in 1918 for being a supporter of freedom and independence of Kazakhstan. After being imprisoned for a year, he worked for a decade as a poet and teacher and translate of text books into Kazakh. In 1929, he was falsely arrested again as a member of "anti-Soviet Nationalist organization" and a Japanese spy. He pled not guilty. He was imprisoned and sentenced to 10 years.
His wife, Zuleyka, traveled to Moscow to be near him. She followed him from prison to prison as they were constantly moving him without notice. Sometimes she would have to search for where they took him and when she found him he'd be bloody from the beatings
    .
During this time he had been told a lie that his wife had left him for another man. Possible that this was part of the demoralization and beatings that he was experiencing. Devastated, he wrote a letter, or a poem if you will, to his wife asking how could she leave him and who now would hear his sorrow. This poem was turned into the song Daididau that we know today. The name Daididau was an affectionate name that he would often call his wife.
Ultimately Zuleyka petitioned some of his literary friends to help and they were able to get him released early in 1936, but a year later he was arrested again. This time he was killed in custody and the location of his burial remains unknown.
The Historical significance of this story to Kazakhstan and ultimately to Dimash is not only the story of the struggle for the freedom of Kazakh people and unfair persecution. It is also about repression of art and the erasure of a significant Kazakh individual and artist through Soviet oppression. Magzhan's writings were banned for over 50 years and his name was virtually unknown to even the Kazakh people. Many of his works and writings have been lost forever. It wasn't until 1989 when Kazakhstan was moving toward independence that they re-discovered him and realized his tragic persecution and the profound beauty of his poetry.
So, Dimash having learned all of this history and being a young patriot, knew at age 15 that he wanted to bring this song Daididau to the world. The world would hear this mans words and his art wouldn't be forgotten anymore. Daididau represents years of struggle under foreign oppression and it now represents the struggle for freedom. It became a national folk song handed down from grandfather to grandson and for years the name of the author withheld.
The song represents the heart, the artistry, the past persecution, and the new found freedom of a nation. Dimash's dream was to not only sing song to his whole nation but also to the world. And most specifically, he dreamed since he was 15 years old of singing Daididau in America in large concert in New York. That dream came true for him last December and it was the most beautiful thing to witness.
Sorry so long but I wanted you to know the significance to the song. thank you for your reaction to it!

He was not ill for the singer performance. It was very sweet. The performance where he was ill was Daybreak! Not sure why someone was confused about this. The main thing is you got to enjoy this wonderful song. On your own, do try to listen to the Singer version. It’s worth your time. Thanks for reacting to this. The first part of Bastau is Adai where all the Dombra are being played.

Till today this one is still my favorite performance of Daididau, first reason was hearing a kazakh tradicional music played by 101 dombras, second reason the fulfilment of one of his dreams , that the world would recognise and sing a Kazakh song. His hard time on not showing his great emotions at that particular moment always get me.
Love your reactions, please all of you keep safe. Regards from Portugal. 💞💞

Reason why Dimash was a little out of breath (and a bit sweaty) was because he had been singing/dancing with his other songs prior to this number - and this was about a third of the way into the several hours long concert.

His performance in NY of this song was very moving, not just to his audience, but to him as so many had memorized the words to this song.
He has said he does not show emotions because he is a man, and that is not proper in his society, however
He was openly crying in that performance and would bow his head to keep others from seeing his tears.

That's right dear Dear... I found out about Dimash relatively recently, from September '19. accidentally surfing on ytb. I stumbled upon Sinful Passion and remained hypnotized to this very day and forever. Not a day (or night when I have no time) has passed without enjoying his character and work. I’ve never, ever loved an artist so strongly and deeply, I wasn’t inclined to be anyone’s fan at all. So for a long time I was amazed that it hit me, not knowing that I had actually contracted "Dimashitis"... I started following all the channels about him, to drown somewhere that great love with which I don't know what to do. Strange feeling: your heart suddenly opens, love starts from pure peace and you don't know what to do with that power. And then you write comments to all the Dears of the world... and you love that sea of Dears only because of their indescribable love for Dimash, identical to yours. I am infected and I love that fever. I love you Dears, even though I don’t know you personally, because you feel the same way. I love you all because if you didn’t have those humane Dimash’s qualities, you would not be able to recognize them. Because this is no longer just about magnificent singing. This is a spiritual level that is impossible for the mind to grasp because it is as mysterious as the universe. Dimash was sent by God himself and has an important mission. And his voice is like an Olympic torch. Let it burn forever 🔥💕

Another great reaction Josh (love the channel name change)! This is such a beautiful song and this is an emotional performance. I was at his NY concert in Dec and when he sang this song we all sang with him at the end ... he was overwhelmed with emotion ... he said it was his dream to sing this song with fans from around the world on a NY stage ... the exchange of love in that stadium was palpable ... the most incredible e experience I've ever had. And Di's voice live ... thousands times more amazing than you can hear on the internet. Such pure golden sound like fire! So enjoying your Dimash journey with you Josh! ♥️
As Dears have mentioned ... a double reaction to DAYBREAK would be awesome ... the first one from Singer when he was sick (which is still beautiful) and the second from Bastau concert, which is one of his most phenomenal performances! To see the difference is mind blowing! 😎

Great comment! Just what I was going to say. Also, when he was talking about the love in the audience at Queen's concerts, I couldn't help but think about NY. There was so much love flowing back and forth between Dimash and the audience. You are right, it was palpable. I've never been a part of anything like that on such a large scale. I think that's part of why you feel so "empty" after a Dimash concert. When the concert is over and you've gone home, no longer being in that aura of complete love, it feels like quite a loss! I can't wait until I can see him live again. I hope all this COVID business is under control come next March so I can see him at the Dusseldorf and Prague concerts!

This is such a beautiful and sad song. His father wasn't sure about putting this story to music, but then Dimash played it for him, and now it's a staple at all concerts! He will always involve fans in singing, no matter where. He's so humbled by the fact that people from all over are learning and loving his culture and homeland. Dears have all learned this phonetically. His breath control is amazing! He will swim underwater the length of the pool to build on it.

Hello, my dear (that's what Dimash calls his fans), I'm Brazilian and we already had some excellent composers and singers, these are no longer played, the media now only play funk and mediocre singers who use their ass and sex to make it successful . There are people (singers) who bring out the worst in us. Now there is Dimash that awakens the best in us, our sensitivity, admiration and reverence for what is beautiful. For these are the virtues that exist in him, moral values and love for the family, love for the country, which he honors and dignifies. They make us want to hear it over and over and over again !!!. In an interview at the age of twelve he said that when he grew up he wanted to be a dignified man and make a contribution to his country.
That's what he does now with all his talent and love of music.

Dear Josh, welcome to the Club of all Dears on planet Earth 🤗
