Everyone learns at a different pace. Two people can have 1000 hours of time put into the game, one is gold and one is champ. It just takes effort to get better and don't compare someone else's ability to yours. Just focus on you and your game and in time you will get better. :)
The tip about going for fast shots and not necessarily accurate shots in custom training was actually really good insight. I never thought about that perspective, but if all you're doing is making sure the ball goes in, you're really not getting the most out of the training. Great video, Musty.
When you were explaining the Neo Tokyo drill, I was actually thinking to myself "This reminds me of Kevperts style of teaching", before you mentioned him. The efficiency of his methods are simply unparalleled.
When watching a video like this I always remember a quote from one of Loconate's video. "You're going to get worse at it before you get better at it". For anyone watching this who find themselves getting frustrated at themselves when trying these drills, that's a good thing! Not being able to do something means there's something there for you to learn that you can add to your arsenal or mechanics the next time you play. I know I'm going to do the Tokyo Underpass training the next time I play! Great video Musty, you really out did yourself with this one!
Hi musty! Can you make a video where you would invite 1 person per rank to explain their party problems and give advice please? It would help me and a lot of players to identify with someone of the same rank to improve aspects of the game in their gameplay and I think no one else has really done it yet ... I'm counting on you and I continue to watch all your videos!
Easy solution - Play only 1v1, or get a team that you can communicate with. Personally I've given up on 3v3, and I either play 2v2 or 1v1. And you still get better with 1's Update: I will never play any modes until I'm Grand Champion in 1v1. 2v2 is boring and a waste of time, I always lose there, in my rank there is no rotation and just ballchasing. Not even a bit of teamplay. I see 2v2 and 3v3 not worth it. 1v1 teaches you everything you need in 2v2 and 3v3, so if I'm GC, I'll nail every rank.

I've watched so many tutorials, including Kevpert's (excellent) videos. I've got to say, the double hit as-fast-as-possible training is the best advice that I've heard for improvement. Pros all have that skill down and it's helping me tremendously.
Just was watching violent panda and squishy average speed of 1650 in rlcs and was wondering how to improve on my 1300 avg and you make this video, kudos musty for the awesome contents.
The only way to get better in.... like everything, is practic... Srsly, why do i still watch those video´s nothing to learn rly (sry nothing personal). It doesn´t matter if u go in freeplay, workshop, actual games or training packs, aslong as u do intent to get better and work on yourself and dont only blame others, u will get better. If u do actualy rank u will get faster in reaction time rotation and understanding the game. If u go into freeplay u can learn mechanics like wavedashes, fast ariels, cealingshots, rebounds and stuff. In workshop u can learn perfectly airdribble and on top of the car dribbles, but that is only half the cake. U then still have to practice those kind of thing´s in actual games. A friend of mine is way higher in ranked as i´m, in actual games he pulls of sick dribbling playes which i also do, but not so consistant as he does. But and we actualy tried that, in like every workshop map i dominat him, speed jump rings, dribbling challange 1 and 2, u name it i beat him. In 1v1´s against him (cealing shot only, airdribble only, 180 backflipflicks only etc. u get the point) i beat him 10 out of 10. Point is, if u give me the time pulling those of i´m consistant, if not its a different story. Recently i realised how to rly get better in gamespeed, reaction time and pulling those kind of things of in actual games. U just have to think ahead of time. If the ball goes to a wall, dont wait until it bounces, go up befor it bounces and read the bounce. Read your opponents move befor he even knows what he is doing. When u go to hit a ball u already have to know where u want the ball to be after the hit and depending on the situation, if u go for a pass, be ready if your mate passes back to you, if u are just going for a clear, dont stop turning your car and boosting after the hit, already follow your hit. In rocket league are tons of mechanics and ability´s u gotta learn to be good, yeah sure train the basics in freeplay, but the important part ist your reaction time to opponents and the ball. These kind of things u can only learn in actual games. I rly tried many things to become better, abusing the dribble challanges by only doing airdribbles while finishing them for example. But the best way is to semingly just ballchase. Sounds stupid and it is (ballchasing is stupid) but the point is u have to overcome your own inability to go up for a ball because u are not comfortable going up for it. And trust me if u go up for balls that u arn´t comfortable going up for and u do it over and over and over again, it might look like ballchase, but everyone in your elo (which ever elo it is) surely hase the same issues and if u overcome that and get comfortable to go up for those balls u will rise in ranke, then again find stuff u are uncomfortable with and just dont give a damn if u still go for them and miss, the next time u might hit it, or the time after that, but sometime soon u will. And thats how u get better, searching the stuff u arn´t comfortable with and try to overcome those by just doing them regardless in ranked.
Yeah practice is good. But wise words from a pro "There is constructive practice that enables good habits. And there is bad practice that enables bad habits." You can practice all you want. But only if you know what you need to learn.
@@fastmadcow I dont rly get your point. Thats what i say. u have to learn the stuff u are uncomfortable with, while playing. The only rly way to do it tho, is to go for them regardless. True i was kinda tiltet and it was late, as i was typing this above. But still its pretty good. Like that i did go from dia1 (back then), to champ1 rly quick. I stoped doing it, i stoped going up in rank. Then in champ 2 i realised it again, i gotta go for those balls to get better regardless. I did, i went up in rank. Right now its the same, to be better i gotta be better in hitting the ball, when it bounces of of wall. Thats what i practice, in actual games and i´m almoste there (GC). I will hit it this season no matter what. Ps. I diffinetly will hit it this season because i played the last year on a 50hz TV! with probaply 50ms delay or something like that. Now i got my 240hz 1ms delay Monitor and i actualy am faster in reaction time because of that 50ms delay. And my hits are more controlled (with airdribbles the improvement is extrem because of the monitor). If i can hit champ 3 with a TV with 50hz.... I will hit GC this season.

musty your air recovery mechanics are top notch if you could make a video just on that that'd be amazing it's those little weird movements you do to maintain momentum. this is something I notice that is keeping me out of higher level speed
7:39 a quick tip to get better at this is when your four wheels hit the wall do not drive up the wall just jump, because if you drive you will be higher than the ball making it harder to hit.
Few things I’d add just for newer players that you mention but don’t really explain: -If you wanna hit the ball harder, don’t just drive into it to hit but dodge into the ball as you hit it. -The reason he lets the ball bounce before hitting it is because the ball will actually be going faster right after the bounce. -Don’t go for double touch plays and risky mechanics in ranked if you don’t have to. Conservative play styles are better and will let you rank up faster. Way too many newer players are going for aerial plays with a low chance of success and take themselves out of the play, cede possession, and/or have a long recovery time.

7:39 a quick tip to get better at this is when your four wheels hit the wall do not drive up the wall just jump, because if you drive you will be higher than the ball making it harder to hit.
Few things I’d add just for newer players that you mention but don’t really explain:
-If you wanna hit the ball harder, don’t just drive into it to hit but dodge into the ball as you hit it.
