  • In today's crochet tutorial we're going to learn how to crochet the Basic Shell Stitch Washcloth pattern. This washcloth is the second in the Beginner Washcloth Series that I've put together.
The purpose of this series is to help you practice the basic, beginner stitches while coming away with something valuable. While I think you should take some time to practice before starting a more complicated crochet project, I also think your practicing should do the following:
    - learn to master a stitch
    - teach you something new
    - learn a few tricks you wouldn't have otherwise known
    - make something useful
And that's exactly what you'll learn in this series for beginners.
By learning how to crochet the Basic Shell Stitch Washcloth, you will be practicing the:
    - Single Crochet (US) | Double Crochet (UK)
    - Double Crochet (US) | Treble Crochet (UK)
    - How to crochet the Shell Stitch
    - How to better read crochet patterns

I keep getting a gap between the sc and dc on one side of each shell. How can I prevent that?

Try to make your single crochet tighter so it pulls it down more and there's less of a gap

    How about a border?

If you’d like to create a border, you can do that! I chose not to because I thought it was pretty without it 😊

@@SigoniMacaroni sometimes the sides get a little frayed at each end the more I use them. I’d kind of like to get a simple trim down the edges. What would you recommend?

The video says ch 38 and the instructions say ch 32?

Hi Kim! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Either way is correct because the foundation chain needs to be in multiples of 6 +2 to work with this pattern, but I just changed the written pattern to match this video. Thanks again!
