#mostdisturbing
now that i know the same manga artist wrote both "flowers of flesh and blood" and "mermaid in a manhole", this might explain why i always thought those were by far the best 2 of the series. aparently he was the talent of project lol
"quirky turkey" will now enter my lexicon
1) I liked the vlog style.
2) I first heard of these films right after I watched Audition, which I could not finish. Addition taught me that not all Japanese horror is for me oh, so I never even gave these films a try and I don't plan to it at any point.
3) I appreciate you giving the rundown on the films since that's the only way I'm going to get this information. Thanks and see you soon.
1. thanks jasper!
2. Audition is probably more disturbing than these in my opinion
3. Thank you for that, I try my best. see YOU soon!
Love her voice 😍
thanks for this
Never heard the term "quirky turkey" before but if I ever start a polka/punk band that's what I am calling it
Its from bobs burgers!
@@spookyastronauts I was about to ask if that's where you got it. We need a full scale production of it.
@@spookyastronauts Your voice and face is disturbing
@@raintree3383 😂 yikes.. two whole years went by and you really didn’t get any attention for being so edgy. Hope you’re mentally stable these days 👍🏽
I couldn't stand this series. I'm with you all the way though. First one was rough because you don't really know what to expect, even if you know what to expect.. and then it just falls apart and the rest of the series is just garbage. A lot of people also don't realize just how short in duration these films are!
In addition: Charlie Sheen was NOT EXACTLY SOBER when he watched the film.
Haha that last line made me laugh out loud! so true!
Dambreaker it looks like it came from the deep web, I don’t blame him for calling the police 😂
@@MsTinkerbelle87 Him being on drugs didn't help.
Naked Blood is another gem to check out!
@@dambreaker At least half of hollywood is on drugs, in fact, MAJOR parts of the american population is using SOMETHING, shit like Adderall, Vicodin, Ambien, Restoril et cetera, and it makes people fkn crazy, especially combining Ambien and Adderal, people drive in their sleep and go to work on a day off and get fired without remembering what happened when they went full on apeshit at work.
Being on cannabis, coke or alcohol is nothing compared to what american doctors will give you..
Japan is notorious for making disturbing horror movies. You seemed to handle them like a pro and everything said was quite insightful.
Thanks, ive seen a lot
I really liked Mermaid in a Manhole. It's pretty creative/artistic and sort of a tragic/sad tale.
Check out Organ. It has a similar vibe at times.
Yep, not for me. Kudos for sitting through all of these in one day, I couldn't do it!
its really disturbing yes. but there are even more disturbing movies like this. watch the japanese movie naked blood. snuff horror movie. its really sick. and if you want to see 2 movies based on the same event that happens in china. then watch human pork chop and there is a secret in my soup. both chinese/hong kong horror movies.
After watching Martyrs and Irreversible I was completely done with watching any film that involves the torture of a woman. Imprint was pretty brutal as well. Yeah, I’m over it.
Totally, the brutality in Martyrs is something I had to skip through I really couldn't do it, as a teen I was all into disturbing stuff but now as I got older I stick to thriller/mystery types (although I love Ari Asters work and a lot of A24 films, I can't wait for more)
Never watch "A Serbian film" then!
"Im gonna watch 6 of the films for you guys" ----- whelp time to get my coffee.
;)
You belong in movies you are so screen friendly
I would not be surprised at all if Emma was offered a TV host position in the future. She so natural.
Haha! if only you saw what I edit out! 😜
And here I was expecting to see a heartfelt series about big hamsters... ;)
move on just move on You have nothing smart to say
This is why we love you Emma. You’re videos never disappoint. I loved the “vlog style” you added to this one. Also, you’re strong for watching all those films back to back lol
Thank you so much! I try!
Yes! The Quirky Turkey, my favorite Erotic Friendfiction book! 😘
have you seen the Slaughter Vomit Doll movies by Lucifer Valentine?
Yes, I’d love a review on them!
@@paigegraham9828 x2
Wondering the same thing...
I’ve really gotten into your channel with the corona virus closing everything down and I love horror, thank you for your content!
Thank you for watching!
come on her voice and talk is so bad
Thank you so much for doing this for us! I finally acquired almost all of them a few yrs ago, and sat down all excited to watch, but ten minutes into the first one, I had to turn it off. I thought they would progressively get worse and worse, right??
You are a brave soul!
I love how you watch these films in one sitting and talk about each afterward. Very cool. Thank you! You're awesome!!!
Oh, Unearthed Films has put out a Guinea Pig series as well----American style. Do I recommend them? Not really. The acting is atrocious and the gore (which is off the charts) is meh quality. Some of it looks real, some of it looks REALLY fake. Unearthed Films rarely deliver (it's generally low quality) but when it does, it does (e.g., Flowers, Atroz).
You also need to check out the American Guinea Pig Series! There's four chapters in the series...
1. American Guinea Pig : Bouquet Of Guts And Gore
2. American Guinea Pig : Bloodshock
3. American Guinea Pig : The Song Of Solomon
4. American Guinea Pig : Sacrifice
No sure if i'll do these... see what happens
You'll want to. They are pretty good
@@spookyastronauts They're all made by Unearthed Films, so expect a hell of a lot of gore and a more serious tone than some of the Japanese ones. I really liked the first one, the rest have cool ideas but failed to impress me.
Didn’t rate the American ones much 🤷🏼♀️
Yep she does.
Ok. I paused at 4:30 to tell you how AWESOME I think it is that you e developed a different version of your 'come with me' videos. Seriously, THIS is why I Patron you. Your are amazing, and I can't wait to watch the rest of this video. Ok, I'm pressing play now. Heh.
Have you been with me through a 31 days of horror yet Meghan? those get wild!
@@spookyastronauts not at real time, but I've watched 2 years worth so far, and I love them! No pressure, because I know how much work they are, but if you decide to do it again this year, it's going to feel less like Halloween, and more like Christmas to me. Lol.
Love the video format!! Just in case you need more Japanese extreme cinema, have you seen Grotesque? It's like a modern day guinea pig with very good gore effects (and very thin story :D)
I am so proud that you finished the whole series of guinea pig! These are not the the kind of genre that you really want to watch because of the disturbing and unsettling tortures scenes. I remember when I finished all the parts, if you're not into this kind of films, you'll probably gonna be sick and walk out and it's traumatize haha. I'm just like, I know most of the Japanese splatter movie has always a weird storylines. This is probably the most disturbing films I've watched so far.
Great reviews btw! Looking forward for more!!!
I hope the kitten in the 4th film was ok 😭😭😭😭😭
I could never watch any of those movies.
Now you have!
Awesome! So glad you covered these crazy films. Keep ‘em coming, your videos always brighten up the day.
I'm not a fan of this series at all. The first two are the only films I'd recommend. I still find all of them silly and cheesy. I remember watching Mermaid in a Manhole and kept geeking out. It's ridiculous. I like ridiculous but the acting and special effects MUST be top notch.
You need to do a top most disturbing documentaries! There are plenty! Also, a top most disturbing short films. Apparently Ari Aster has some short films out there. One of them is called The Strange Thing About the Johnson Family. It's DISTURBING! I watched it last week and that sick little movie won't get out of my head. It on RUclips! If you have not seen it, check it out. Based on Hereditary and The Strange Thing About the Johnson Family, Midsommar is going to deliver.
Besides Flowers of Flesh and Blood (the one Charlie Sheen saw), the only other I’ve seen is American Guinea Pig: Bouquet of Guts and Gore. Despite its low, low budget and production value, the gore is pretty impressive. They’re not enjoyable, by any means. I’ve never had the desire to watch again. I love my gore, but these just left me feeling dirty and kinda sick. And, that’s the point, if you’re into that.
I so admire your ethic! Good lord. I had a close friend who had a friend heavily into what he believed were real magazines with torture in them. It scared the hell out of him, how blasé she was about it. I just…couldnt. At all. I just couldn’t, I get way too affected. You were talking about your demographic on another video. I’m 57, female, in Australia, an artist. l love watching your series. I think maybe your audience is maybe more diverse than people expect. I feel you need a kitty or puppy cuddle after seeing those!😬🤗
Emma deserves a medal, 6 in a row!
Im still waiting for one 😆
6 sounds like the most interesting 1 and 2 sound like the most disturbing
Zero interest in these types of films.
I know of this because of spookyrice
Have you seen the channel called "horrible reviews "they also have a fun series about the most disturbing films?
It took me 6 seconds into the video and a rudimentary knowledge of Aussie entertainment laws to need to pause and ask if you are ok? lol
The whole murder tie to the second movie in Japan reminds me of the whole scare around Higurashi and School Days where they were heavily censored on tv/taken off air for a while I think due to a real life teenager who murdered her father with a similar weapon to that seen used by a character in Higurashi.
Oh yeah I remember that one
good thing there's a behind the scene with everyone laughing and having fun
That would be a good accompaniment.
You binge - watched these? 😬
I could only tolerate 5 to 10 minutes each of #1, #2, and #6.
Maybe the reoccurring theme of eyes are an homage to the eye slicing scene in Dali's film Un Chien Andalou. 👁
Totally, thats what I was thinking!
but guinea pigs are so cute
Devil women doctor is the best one
Wow thanks for binging these! Seems like the gore with these movies was a bit overstated; like the "Faces of Death" movies. Though maybe most people just stop after the first in the series?
Thanks for this. The only one I've seen was Mermaid in a Manhole. I liked it.
Yeah it is the best!
I think I want to watch these. Not sure. Probably shouldn't
Try number 6 and see how you go!
Snuff films?
Pffffh, this is just the evening news..
Thank you? I guess. Lol. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this setup for content. Not sure what other series you could do this with but I really like it. Great job Emma!! #QuirkyTurkey
Hi Emma love your videos !! Check out films by Marian Dora if you want really disturbing 🤢🤮
Just torturing people for the sake of showing torture on the screen has nothing to do with the horror genre.
The definition of horror directly contradicts your statement
Not seen these, did just watch The Bunny Game though-thats just demented!!😳😳
Thanks for taking one for the team, I could never watch this series. I feel brave just watching your video on it.
You are a trouper !
I've seen most if not all of these and your take is spot on. They get way more campy and silly as the franchise goes on. Fantastic work!
That was interesting to watch! I just watched all six as well in preparation for a panel discussion for Visceral Pleasure and Extreme Cinema. It was quite the roller coaster ride. As far "quality" (can that term be used here??) goes, I agree that the first film ranks at the top. However, as far as enjoyment goes, I rank the third film as the highest. There was something special about the third one, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the series!
Does anyone know the short film she is referring to around the 15:40 mark? I would love to see it!
I didn't know you were Australian. Never been there, but I'd love to visit, as I've been told (I'm sure you get this a lot) that you folks are Fun Personified!
You’d be very welcome here 🤗
The way you pronounce the word “ ominous” is Adorable . Also have you ever think of doing a similar vid marathoning Italian cannibal movies? Or maybe the Zombi movies ( started with the infamous Zombi 2)?
Not a huge fan of Zombi
Still love the format of this Vid Emma , I was just brainstorming long running horror film series that not many are familiar with outside of those slasher franchises ( which I know your not crazy about )
how did you find them? but i found aughust mordem on sky !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for taking one (6?) for Team 👁 Eyeball!
My personal ranking would look like this:
Mermaid in the Manhole
He Never Dies
Flower of Flesh and Blood
Devil Woman Doctor
Devil's Experiment
Android of Notre Dame
I'm either indifferent to or dislike most of them, but I liked Mermaid in the Manhole quite a bit.
disturbing nah! i mean theres a plot or zero plot! it doesnt put me into a scary mood or make me feel something for the world they try to put me in.the practical effects passable until a degree,,but yeah these series are look fake an goofy!i dont know how charlie sheen thought that the second part could be real?!jesus christ!
I've got to say, this is one of the more detailed videos on the Guinea Pig series I've come across. I'm currently working on a book about the Guinea Pig series (four years in so far), and most of the videos on RUclips about these films have a lot of incorrect information, whereas this one gets much more of the detail correct. Plus, props for viewing the entire series in one sitting, something I've never done.
Although (sorry, can't help myself), Mermaid was the fifth release in the series, not the sixth.
Anyway, good video, subscribed.
It's likely the version of Guinea Pig 2 that you seen was a better quality copy than what I'd seen, and trust me, if you'd seen this back when it was an underground film so that chances are the only way you'd see it was a pirated copy of a copy, the loss of qualify from video cassette recording may have contributed to making the effects seem more realistic, especially with all of the loss of quality that video tapes get from multiple generation copies and being played on an old standard 640 x 480 TV. To me the effects were very realistic, the most disturbing part was the sounds used when killer decided that the bone saw was probably not going to be as efficient as the chisel for going through her ball joints. The animatronics for her severed body parts were great for the time too.
I seen that movie back when I was in college in the mid 1990s, the only way to see it was as a pirated copy here in the US, I'm sure the poor video quality helped to hide the imperfections, and there were no subtitles in the version I see, but I had a Japanese friend who watched it with me to translate for me. I'd say if you seen a subtitled version it's probably from the DVD which would be made from the best quality recordings that exist, if not gone through some enhancements as well. I recommend trying to get your hands on an old VHS copy and tell us how realistic that seemed.
The drag queen Peter was featured in Kurosawa's retelling of King Lear: Ran. & quite annoying he quickly became 😺
I draw the line at p!ss and sh!t. People keep wanting you to watch slaughter vomit dolls! NO DONT DO IT!
So, maybe no one has asked this before, but what’s the whole deal with Japan, anyway? There is no amount of information which seems to make any of it make sense, but where would we be without them? Much less entertained, that’s for fucking sure.
I legit just somehow fell into these movies today randomly on youtube, it was so strange to me that she was tortured for the first 20 minutes of the first one without getting her dress dirty. i don't know why that is what stood out to me lol and she moaned the entire time like she was enjoying it😂😂 The humour in "the making of guinea pig" was a great way to end watching them all afterwards
I dig the fact that you're familiar with extreme horror cinema.
the first one is the most disturbing to me. because theres no actual storyline its just brutal torture. my favorite has to be the mermaid one though, it was really different from the rest in a way.
What's the point of these so called movies? Just to show case gore and the special effects? There is zero story or anything to gain from watching it.
Hey Emma. Have you heard about the really disturbing films of the Russian Andrey Iskanov? I have them. They are essentially grotesquely horrific psychedelic experiences. Tough stuff. Vision of Suffering really unnerved me. And I love Begotten.
I havent! Sounds fascinating!
Curiosity peaked. Is it underground?
For me, Flowers of flesh it's closer to a technical demo of gory practical effects than an actual movie with plot characters and stuff
The girl in the first one was just weird. They’re pouring boiling oil on her skin and shoving a needle through her eyeball and she acts like it’s a mild inconvenience.
You're a brave adventurer into the dark world of horror. Ive heard about these films for a while but I've never seen any of them.... I'm scared to.
6:10 Sounds like porn that finally realized it's never been about sex.
Thee plot of the first one actually sounds like a case that really happened in Japan to a girl called “Junko Furuta”. I checked though, and the film was made before this murder and torture had happened.
Its nothing like what happened to her, she was captured and tortured, and her injuries are very different, more violent and sexual abuse.
Wait isn’t that what the do in the movie too? “It revolves around a group of men who kidnap and graphically torture a young woman”
@@ChicagocanineThere's no sexual abuse in the film.
I think they’re all on RUclips. I tried watching the first but it was just boring.
Have you ever seen "A Serbian Film"? That's up there in extreme horror!
Now that the yanks have made some, we need an Australian Guinea Pig series.
Even more disgusting is Fred vogel's August underground trilogy
Sorry but I like all the series and maybe you don't know there is a 7th chapter!
You know you’re fucked up when Charlie Sheen of all people has to call the FBI on you.
Sounds like a movie Diamanda Hagan would review
Devil's Experiment is the only one I like., the rest are just gory.
Well done. Great review seen bits of these movies when I was younger. But I think I’m going to sit and watch these too. Thanks 🙏🏼
I know they're not exactly 'horror' but could you talk about the Hannibal film series? It's one of my favourite series EVER
Of course they are horror films. Where on earth do people come up with this "it's not horror" notion about certain kinds of horror films. I'd really like to know what these people consider to be horror if films like, say, Silence of the Lambs isn't one? I'm sticking with the kinds of films included in the massive Overlook film Encyclopedia of Horror films. Which certainly includes anything with Hannibal Lecter. Horror is a wide spectrum of films.
@@TheAnadromist I do actually agree with you, but I didn't want to battle with people who started commenting things like 'psychological thrillers aren't horror' and things like that.
@@kkaarrss Thanks for letting me know. Yeah my feeling is just ignore them. If they don't know what a horror film is, or have such a narrow view, they don't really add much to the discussion.
I think they could be considered horror. why not!
I'd say definitely they can fall into the broad "Horror" genre. I think the movie Se7en crosses genres too.
When you said I'm gonna do a vlog-style reaction just a big smile and a feeling of joy appeared all of a sudden. I really like it when you do things like that. As for the series they all sound and look pretty bad that's why I never bothered watching. I might watch 1,2 & 6 ,but that's a BIG "might".
Do you know how I can watch this mermaid short film?
Emma, added you on Letterboxd. I'm really glad you shared the app. It's nice to look at your ratings, and get an idea on whether a movie is worth watching.
Thanks again.
My I'd is JacenSolo2001
Thanks Jerry!
Idk August Underground is pretty fucked up
Well this video makes your recent Letterboxd activity make a lot of sense lol
My favourite chapter in the The Original Japanese Guinea Pig Series is Mermaid In A Manhole
Same!
Sheet.ghost costume video pleasee 🤗👻
I do recommend the American guinea pig series
oh MAN yeah the Guinea Pig films is a rabbit hole. "Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood" was one of the first things I discovered when our household got peer-to-peer sharing 'Kazaa' xD except there wasn't a description and felt like it might've been a snuff film. Broke my mind, like "Begotten" for its own rmerits, that opened up a whole new world of extreme horror. Felt queasy and excited at the same time xD and definitely compelled to look for more extreme horror films for awhile. That wave broke many years later. I don't outrightly seek them out anymore, but I appreciate the Guinea Pig series for their historic value
Thank you!
Spooky you need to cover Salo: 120 days of Sodom, Melancholie Der Engel, and A Tumbling Doll of Flesh which is perhaps the most disturbing film I ever heard of and its plot just bloody terrifies me
I tried putting together a script for Salo but I couldnt do it...
A Serbian film is probably the worst of them all!
If you want to see a truly disgusting disturbing bloody violent Japanese movie, try Ishi the Killer. Ugh.
For a truly disturbing TRUE Japanese horror, look up the experiments during WWII at Unit 731.
You mean itchi the killer? I love itchi!
This was an awesome video because I've always been really curious about these films. I might check out a couple because they're short but now I know which ones to skip lol
That Samurai guy in Flowers of Flesh And Blood sold it for me as the Creepiest Samurai ever in a 🎥 😀
It freaked me the fuck out that movie
6 sounds like the most interesting 1 and 2 sound like the most disturbing
Please do Vomit Gore Trilogy
