I love how your iceberg doesn't include films that would get me on the FBI watch list.
amen.
Thirded
😂😂😂
I don't know why I'm laughing😂😂😂
Asking for a friend, what would these be haha
I love how this is an actual “horror” iceberg and not just disturbing film
Horror is supposed to be disturbing. You're looking for the term "terror".
@@marianadamelioWhat the person is saying is these are actual films, with production crews and actors, where alot of these icebergs include things shot on peoples phones, like killing animals and other sick stuff, but isn't an actual movie.... do you get it now?
@@marianadameliowhat they mean is actual horror films and not real life snuff films
@@marianadameliohorror doesn’t have to be disturbing, as in torturous gore
Yes
im sick of THOSE horror fans telling me that im not a real horror fan bc i refuse to watch a movie that is just pure torture sex snuff that would get me on the fbi blacklist and would give my computer 10 virius' if i tried to watch it on a website or something. so im glad you have ACTUAL cinema on here. love you sarah
I think what makes Hereditary so disturbing isn’t even the weirdness or gore but the just deadweight emotional impact it brings! Also the Suspiria remake has a few scenes that are too hard for me to watch!!
YES
@@PossessedbyHorror how do you make a horror iceberg
@@PossessedbyHorror can you make different kinds of iccbergs
Suspiria best horror remake
@@markgrayson7428 It’s so good! I prefer the OG just for the art value but the remake has such cozy winter/fall vibes and the muted color palette is soooo good
I 100% agree that having films that are really snuff flicks with real depictions of violence shouldn't be considered horror films. Feels very much how the difference between Haunts and Torture Parks.
There’s so much horrifying violence in the world right now. I don’t want to see even more while I’m trying to watch films 😭
They're are really horrible and horrifying, but they're not terrifying. They don't scare you. They just make you sick and angry.
Your speech about the entire iceberg IS SO VALID!!! The stuff at the bottom shouldn’t even qualify as cinema!!
It's not even supposed to be cinema relax
@@vitaminwater9662 What are you talking about. It's literally called Horror Cinema in the original Reddit post.
REEEEEEEEEEE. I DONT LIKE IT SO IT NOT MOVIE.
@@djdepressionwell it would be like calling a tape of people in a class room running around, recorded my a class mate, a comedy movie. Its not.
@@djdepression You can’t tell me videos of people shitting on one another is a horror movie, it’s not even scary it’s just gross.
So happy to finally see an iceberg that is not 70% P8rn
Omg I 💯 agree with you. When I saw a few different iceberg videos of disturbing horror films, after tier 3 it's just yeah what you mentioned 😅
Are they like actual snuff films? If so that’s so sick. Idk why anyone would ever want to watch that.
@@ccap3211there are some that are fake and some that are real. Either way, ew and no thanks.
@ccap3211 99% of them are just actors and filmed but the people that act and make these movies have a weird fetish
right??? i clicked so fast because i know she’s going to deliver
girl i’m so glad you’re a normal horror fan and not an edge lord trying to “prove” something,, that original iceberg is so bad and terrifying
Girl, knowing your limits is brilliant. Stand your ground. You don't have to watch anything you don't want to watch.
its not brilliant its common sense
Totally! I will cover my eyes if the movie is more gore than I thought. Hell, we'll turn it off if need be. Watching gross movies just to say you watched them is not it.
Honestly A House That Jack Built is probably the most disturbing film I’ve seen. That sniper scene, I wasn’t prepared
Agree, it still haunts me lol.
I’ll never forget it
Good film, that. The only thing that disturbed me about the sniper scene was the implication that grown adults shoot deer there for fun.
I cannot get over that picnic scene. I actually shut it off at that point and couldn't finish it. And I only had 15 minutes left lol
Yes, the sniper scene and the frozen boy... I watched this just before my night shift. Don't need to rewatch it ever :D
The Poughkeepsie Tapes is one that got me as someone who is desensitized to most
I wanted to include it as a classically disturbing movie but when I watched it, it was not in the right setting so it didn’t feel fair!
Same. Particularly I watched it when I myself was 19, in college, and home alone at like midnight. I had literally no idea what was in it regarding plot and when I heard that the main character was basically me but a girl I was uneasy the entire time and the entire night
It is so well executed
I saw this by accident when I was a teenager and it still haunts me lol
Thanks a lor for again including Be My Cat on your cool original lists, and for your kind words! 😊🙏❤ I have a feeling that our upcoming movie We Put the World to Sleep may be more up your alley than Be My Cat was 😁
SO excited for We Put the World to Sleep!
You are one of my comfort RUclips channels❤❤❤
🖤🖤🖤
Yeah, once it gets into snuff films and shit it's not a horror movie, it's a reason for the FBI to put you on a list
I feel like this would be a really fun idea for each decade. So an iceberg for the early 2000’s, 2010’s, 80’s, 90’s, etc, I’d love to see you rank them !!
Oooh yes this would be amazing
Seconding this!!
I remember watching Megan is missing in like 2016. The only reason I watched it was because a coworker told me not to watch it, but wouldn’t tell my why. Afterward, I felt like I wanted to crawl out of my own skin by how disgusting it made me feel. Definitely the most disturbing film I’ve watched.
My sister and I watched it when we were very young , having no idea was it was about.. i couldn’t get those last scenes out of my head for weeks. We were both in shock and couldn’t even talk about it because it made our skin crawl and we didn’t even want to let our minds go back to those images. To this day , i still can’t think about it too much because it still gets to me, glad to see it on this list and that it disturbed other people as well
Only watched YMS review and I don't need to see more. Found PossessedByHorror channel because of her review and I'm happy I did but i agree with YMS on that one. It's quite bad.
@@petitemarguerite9530 I also watched MIM when I was young, around 13 I believe. It scarred me for a little while but I have no issues watching it now, though I'll likely never watch it again lol
I don’t get how it can be so brutal but also be free on RUclips? Like videos get taken down on here for saying “murdered”
@@ohjordyn8312what happens in the movie, if u can explain
I’m so happy to see a horror ice berg that someone could practically watch. I’m so sick of seeing extreme horror lists that are stuff you’d have to go on the dark web to find.
mother! was the most uncomfortable i have ever been watching a movie. i didn't even know a movie could effect me like that. it's so hard to even explain but yeah i think that has to be my top one.
As someone that’s gotten to level 4 on the original iceberg, by that point they stop being films trying to tell stories. I remember watching those movies as an exercise in “how far can I push myself” and “how much can I take”. I was no longer watching to see a film with a plot. I like your list a lot more. Also, I recall having to torrent most of those films because of how many of them are banned in places so that should’ve told me that I should quit long before I got to Slaughtered Vomit Dolls.
i will NOT watch anything by Lucifer Valentine, i knew i was not going to watch anything with Vomit" in the title, disgust is different than horror or thriller
@@movielovingDebbie no that’s literally why I stopped trying to “progress” on the iceberg. That movie specifically is what made me quit.
Sinister 1000% deserves that title. The fact that it’s still just as disturbing today as it is when I first watched it in theaters when it came out over a decade ago is proof.
I was a teenager when it came out, saw it in theaters, and it became one of my favorite horror movies almost immediately because of how dark and _sinister_ it was.
People's boundaries are so funny because that movie did not disturb me that much. Like yeah the "deep web footage" feel of it brought back some weird nostalgia and yeah disturbing but at the same time by the time I was done with it I was literally chill.
By the way saying this not to say that I think people getting disturbed is funny or anything, I just think it's interesting how some things are disturbing or not depending on the person.
Legit the only movie that seriously scared me
one of the only horror movies that has scared me since i got into horror. really stuck with me
left me a 100 % cold and I didn't even finish watching because it was so boring. And I ALWAYS finish movies, just couldn't care with this one as it was so infuriatingly boring.
This made me realize that a lot of horror movies I’ve enjoyed are not disturbing, or maybe not even horror.
The only movie I’ve seen below the iceberg is hereditary, and I was able to handle that one because it only had one really disturbing moment. I found hostel far more disturbing than that because rather than one (truly) shocking moment, it was a whole movie of depraved people.
Seeing the original Reddit list and 100 days of sodom being towards the top, there’s no way in hell I’m watching anything on that list!
thank you so much for finally making one of these for actual MOVIES that doesn't devolve into literal snuff films by the end!! also where did you get that t-shirt??
What's your snap
I really liked this idea! And I always thought the same about the original Disturbing Movies Iceberg, the bottom couple tiers are just snuff “films”, some of which are up in the air about the existence of them anyway, and that’s not really the same as a disturbing horror movie.
I'm so glad you included Eden Lake, it's such a painful film to get through but the ending was so shocking, it stuck with me for days after.
I'm really glad to see that film is startin' to get the acclaim it deserves. Such a devastatin' vibe throughout.
So true that “disturbing” is different for everyone!!!! A friend told me the premise of “Tusk” and I will never watch it, the idea of it made me lose sleep, but I LOVE the majority of the gore movies on here! Everyone is different!
I wish I could go back and not watch it either
I really like that you did this. The funny thing about the OG disturbing/horror movie iceberg or other peoples similar ones, is that the farther down you go, the worse the movies get. I don’t mean worse as in violence and disturbing stuff, I just mean the movies get more bad and unwatchable. A lot of them are laughably bad. Also the further down you go the more pornographic they get and I feel like some people are just watching them for that, which is weird, because the internet exists and there are better ways to see that stuff without mixing disturbing violence(unless that’s your thing). It’s also just the quality of film is worse with smaller budget and little to no story. I love an indie film but these just aren’t it. I guess, like you said at the beginning, lets cut out the crap and make an actual “watchable” iceberg. Where the movies are at least decent and not embarrassingly bad.
For me, the level of disturbance I feel is often proportional with the acting. Hereditary was one of the best acted horrors i can remember. Toni Colette-i felt that pain. I hear that scream. It's utterly horrifying and shocking.
I'm so glad I found your channel this year... You've introduced SO MANY great horror movies that I'd never heard of before. And I appreciate how you give kinda vague descriptions with no spoilers, but that are still detailed enough to let me know if it'll be something I'm into. Keep up the good work!
I watched Hereditary before I was a mom too and it disturbed me so bad and I can't even imagine rewatching it now :s
its nice to see a horror iceberg that actually has watchable movies at least up until the second last tier!! also i love Audition so its cool to see it here and to hear that u actually liked it :3
One of the more disturbing movies I’ve recently watched is The Loved Ones, an Australian movie from 2009. One of those that I find a lot of value in and has REALLY great filmmaking with a surprising sense of restraint for WHAT gore they show…but I don’t particularly want to watch it again 😅
Yes! I rarely hear anyone mention this one.
Yes that's a great movie and very disturbing in some scenes
Sarah coming through for us sensitive horror movie fans yet again 👏🏻
Love this. Would like to see a version that has all the spoilers for the people who have seen all these but maybe a little too long ago to recall a "THAT scene." You had me stumped with Dead End and Clown. Give me the spoilers!!! lol
i have a few things to say: first things first, i’m SO glad you made this, i know you’re not the biggest fan of disturbing movies but i really wanted to see your spin on this, i’d be so down for a list of disturbing movies that you _actually_ like and don’t worry i’m also kind of scared of hallucinating idk why? i would like to try it at some point but not sure if i ever will. i also love that i been watching you for so long i guessed exactly what the last tier was going to be 😭
this is such a better iceberg omg i agree with all of your choices! only thing i would change personally is for me, both green inferno & human centipede 2 are the only movies that have ever made me feel physically sick 😭 something about the one death with the limbs in green inferno absolutely WRECKED me (but i'm stupid & decided to watch it again & felt sick again lmao)
Same! Both of those movies actually made me physically sick.
Her iceberg is garbage
For me Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer takes the cake on leaving an impact. Something about it just left a dour filter over me for a few days. Some others I'd add to an iceberg are Bone Tomahawk, The Devil's Rejects, I Spit on Your Grave.
Yes! So happy to see your iceberg.
I was in the hospital on s*icide watch several years ago, and did have an audio hallucination of my own voice telling me to drown myself. It's definitely a very horrifying experience and a movie depicting hallucinations is very valid being that deep!!
Wow. How do you even get audio hallucinations?
@@lessismore8533 I don't know the neuroscience behind psychotic depression and why they can present in disorders outside of schizophrenia and bipolar. Quite scary nonetheless. I was given an antipsychotic afterwards and slept for 24 hours, very confusing waking up after that
For me the Poughkeepsie tape’s definitely got to me as someone who can watch horror and forget about it after (and not have nightmares) this one I couldn’t forget. It really hit me that this is something that can and does happen and it really bothered me for a long while plus the actress who play Cheryl just played her character so well and I feel like that’s what really helped it be so disturbing to me
This shows me how much I go out of my way to avoid disturbing horror. Although I've heard of all of these, I've seen none of them. 😂
UR AWESOMEEEEEEEE SARAHHHHH
honestly, i thought you were gonna put talk to me somewhere. for me, it was definitely one of the most disturbing films i have ever seen. like you said, not necessarily for the gore, but just the whole atmosphere, the absolute dread... i was physically upset, i spent the whole movie just desperately wanting to get up and leave. i havent processed it yet, i was so traumatised that my brain just... dissociated, i feel like i dont even remeber the film. dont know when ill feel like rewatching it
Talk To Me was so good but SUPER upsetting.
Just recently watched Talk to Me and as a mom of a teenage boy, yeah a couple of those scenes were extremely disturbing for me. Definitely a one time watch.
I've not heard of a Horror Movie Iceberg so i read the title of your video and thought you'd made your own Horror movie named Iceberg. DOH! 😂
Same! Glad it's not just me hahaha 😂
@@christinamillar2144 Glad i'm not the only one too ha ha
✋
🙋♀️ same!! lol
Me too! Lol😂
“Speak no Evil” is specifically made to ONLY make you feel complete Misery. And it being deemed MORE disturbing, than “Hereditary”. That’s wild.
I have a nice little story about Hereditary. During the pandemic, I was actually friends with Alex Wolff (Peter). We first started talking because of Hereditary, actually, and then we bonded over music. I had a fan account and he actually became friends with many fans. He was a great friend and the reason I don’t stand by “don’t meet your heroes.” We actually messaged and had conversations, it was a dream come true for a fan girl! He is such a wonderful human being and if you can support him in any way, please do. Milly Shapiro (Charlie) is also very kind!! :)
Your iceberg makes me feel safe
this is the best comment I’m so glad
2 movies not in this iceberg (but would definitely be in mine) are Buried and The Girl Next Door. I don't even know if they're considered proper horror, but both left me literally shaken, for very different reasons
the girl next door is based on a book that is inspired by a true murder case. It's so sad what happened to Sylvia Likens, I don't think I could watch those scenes.
Sarah love your vids so so much!! ❤ thank you for always expressing your horror takes🎉
You're out there saving the horror genre
First of all, I really like your channel!
So Sarah, don't know if you heard about a movie called Soft and Quiet... Very unsettling, and disturbing and... Without a single drop o blood. Can't say much without spoiling something, but oh boy it is another level of disturbing. Would love to hear what you have to say about it (as I always do ☺️) if you do watch it some day!
Kudos to you from Brazil ❤️
That movie is exceptionally disturbing!
Oh the layers of disturbing this movie can reach is something else...
And when you know who's the director and the message she wants to deliver, you appreciate it even more. Even tho the movie is made to upset you! It's all part of the idea. And oh, can I relate to her! Hahah
i love this iceberg. thanks for including actual horror movies and not just snuff films under a horror category
Maybe a bit embarrassing for me but Snowpiercer gave me the worst panic attack and I still haven’t finished the movie nor do I plan to 😅 Cannibalism freaks me out as do bugs and that movie’s got both which I was totally unaware of before watching it lol.
Also I love this idea of creating your own iceberg! This was so fun to watch!
Eden lake almost broke me. Lol it wasn't overly gory or anything but the ending killed me. I recently watched be my cat though and honestly it made me more uncomfortable than a lot of movies have. It felt way too real. Great video!
It's kinda funny that this mirrors the 'classic' iceberg - the more real it is, the deeper down it is. In the case of the classic there's actually literal 'real' stuff, whereas this of course is just mimicking reality. Just an interesting parallel and it makes sense to me.
Thank you for this! the thing is the way films affect us is so personal, Would You Rather stays with me whereas a serbian film (a little dare to my 19 year old self) doesn’t, it’s just what personally gets to me
wow really? i actually loved would you rather, i seen it like two or three times i thought it was cool. of course i never seen a serbian film and don’t know if i ever will as much as i love disturbing movies, i hear so much about it i think that’s where i draw the line 😭😭 but i think is rly interesting how everybody has completely different triggers
@@unlitrash Oh I love the film!! I’ve rewatched it and stuff it just gets under my skin
You are 19 years old not a kid
@@robin-hr7tc everybody has different triggers, hope that helps!
mother definitely caused me the most stress whilst watching. I hate the idea of having people around in my home all the time breaking things and then not being listened too.
I've been so curious about the iceberg, but I also don't want to watch something where I'm going to leave so disturbed that it's not fun. I feel like your list is one I can probably trust more than others that maybe....go beyond horror. Thank you for putting this together!
this is so refreshing to have a horror iceberg ranked this way! I hate the inclusions of real violence/snuff on the original, even though I respect that their intent was to put more obscure things further down on the list.
For a person who never watches horror, your channel and the way you talk comfort me so much! I absolutely love how you have done this iceberg, I really really appreciate you!!!
This video is absolutely going to go viral and everyone will be making their own horror iceberg
Thank you for creating an iceberg with actual horror movies. I would never watch anything below tier 3 from the original "horror" iceberg, not in my life. I also like how you pointed out that everyone finds different things disturbing and has different limits. Personally, I can't watch gory/body-horror movies or many movies depicting torture, I don't like them. So Saw or Hostel would be way down there. Strangely enough, though, I'd swap Funny Games and Hereditary. Funny Games just made me emphasize with the family members much more, thus ended up making me feel much more disturbed. The other movie I'd add to the lower tiers would be The Ring and Salo. That one scene in Salo almost made me throw up, not going into detail. And those last ten minutes were unwatchable for me, I literally had to turn away from the screen. However, interestingly enough I could also see the artistic aim and message behind Salo and I did read behind-the-scenes info about how much fun the actors had while filming. So that made Salo very disturbing and a hard watch but... a movie worthy of being called one.
What do you think about the M3GAN R rated version? Too gory?
Haven't seen it yet but I'm planning on soon :)
Hoping to see your House of Usher series on Netflix review! Mike Flanagan strikes again
I am also terrified of hallucinating and drugs. I don't even drink alcohol because I am so terrified of anything impacting my perception/brain 😅
this is really interesting to see how people perceive disturbing films so differently. for example, i found terrifier a lot harder to watch than terrifier 2, same with midsommar was more disturbing to me than hereditary (although i do absolutely love them both)! i really enjoyed this video and its got me thinking now how i would arrange this iceberg with the films i watched :)
Ugh you’re so real I love your takes and videos, you get it girl
THANK YOU SARAH!!! That (maybe) OG iceberg has always made me so, so mad
So glad that Clown got mentioned. I have yet to meet a living person who has actually seen this. And those people are missing out! Also by Eli Roth, The Woman.
yes i've seen them, the woman is based on a book by Jack Ketchum
A horror iceberg for the rest of us 🖤 thanks for making this!
This is genuinely one of the most concise and comprehensive horror movie icebergs I have seen with some great recommendations (or not recommendations😨😨) Amazing stuff!
So refreshing to see a horror iceberg that isn’t chock full of things that would make me want to set myself on fire after watching. When I was trying to be a teenage edgelord many many years ago I unfortunately also watched a Serbian film and I really wish I never had. Never seen Megan is missing and I never will. And I think for me part of what makes the human centipede 2 so disturbing is how unsanitary it was.
I’m so happy you made this iceberg! I really feel like I can use you as a metric when deciding if something is too scary. I saw speak no evil last year and I HATED IT. I never felt so bad after watching a horror movie worse than funny game (which I didn’t like and I see is right above on the iceberg lol). I was in a super Gung ho I’m a horror fan now! Phase and people were like yeah a must watch for horror fans. Man I was so pissed off!!! Happy to have this iceberg to use when I’m decided if I wanna watch, read the plot summary or just stay away all together
its so funny how me and you have such a different pov about whats disturbing. a lot of my faves are on this list. i still love watching your videos and that you create a place for everyone in horror. no one should feel guilty or bad bc they dont like certain movies! what scares you might not scare me and vice versa and thats OKAY.
I totally agree with your speech at the beginning. Love this video idea!
Please watch Possession (1981). It's on shudder you won't be dissapointed! ❤
I plan on it!
It's so good!
Thanks for the recommendations!
I've seen about half of these, now I'm off to watch the other half.
Sarah honestly I'm a fan of you videos. I wish you would post more often. I'm dying to hear your review on a few films. Here they are... when evil lurks, vhs 85, huesera, fnaf, that new horrible exorcist believer movie, and many more... you used to post very often. I always come see your reviews before I watch the movies. Sometimes I don't even bother if you give it a bad review. I love your channel. Please post more frequently if you can. Love you
Seeing you put Megan Is Missing at the bottom tier is so crazy to me because no one seems to understand me when I say that movie disturbs me more than anything I've ever watched. I watched that movie when I was probably way too young to and it has stuck with me since, it just feels so real!!! Part of me has always wanted to revisit it but even thinking about it now is making me shiver 😭 I haven't seen a lot of the known disturbing movies from the OG iceberg (A Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust, Salo, Trauma, August Underground included) but I would say my bottom tiers would be Human Centipede 2, Megan Is Missing, Antichrist, the I Spit on Your Grave franchise, and Soft and Quiet from last year (this one bothered me so much and I had to pause it so many times and pace around my apartment to calm myself down in between - the subject matter was so real yet done so brutally that it felt so unnecessary to me). Definitely shocked to see Hereditary so low, but I've only seen it once so maybe it's time to revisit it. Shoutout to Martyrs though, despite it being pretty disturbing I genuinely really love that movie. It's so well made and I've actually rewatched it a few times which I wouldn't expect from a 'traditionally known' disturbing film. But it was so refreshing to see a disturbing movie iceberg where I've actually watched every movie (minus A Serbian Film) rather than seeing a bunch of snuff film recommendations 🙄*Cue the exploitation horror gatekeepers saying your iceberg is too tame and not disturbing enough*
Gyatt
A disturbing movie I really like ( and might not be so well known) is " In fear", a british movie from 2013. It's not gory, but so, so creepy and it was definitely one that had my eyes glued to the screen in suspense while watching it and also lingered with me for a while after. Not sure if you've seen it, but if not, I definitely recommend it. Love your recommendations as well
Def agree that sinister wasn’t too disturbing, I think it does “dread” really well (at least for me) so it doesn’t surprise me that it would cause higher heart rates. I remember watching it for the first time and just feeling on edge the entire time.
Just discovered your channel and currently doing all your videos.... so happy I did!!! And finally an horror iceberg I will save to watch later AND be able to find easily because that original post..... SURE, let's call it cinema
yea i think tier 3 is where i draw the line as well 💀 i looked at some of the synopses of the last tier movies and they were so vile i ended up thinking about it for the rest of the day. i LOVE horror but real life vids of people doing depraved things/literal crimes are something i will never enjoy or watch and i don’t consider them to be horror. tbh i don’t think i even consider them cinema
thank you for this video !! I'm not really for the extreme stuff but surprisingly I've seen some movies from your lower tiers haha! Loved hearing your explanations for them too. I also like that you've put actual movies and not just snuff stuff people say they've watched to pride themselves with it bc they think it makes them cool lol
I’m so glad that Climax made the second to last tier. I watched that film a few years ago, and I’ve never felt such intense anxiety while watching a movie. I had a panic attack shortly after it was over because of the tension that kept building and would not leave. I had a similar experience while watching Beau is Afraid, but that one just left me in a dissociative state for a few days after viewing
Larry Clark's Bully and 2007 Zodiac are disturbing to most since based on real life events both are well done and need to be talked about more
Anytime someone even MENTIONS Eden Lake I have to take a deep breath. Lol
I agree with Hereditary. The scenes where Toni Collette just pours out so much raw emotion literally made me almost throw up in the theater because it was so intense. I have also only seen Hereditary once lol
I would put The Lodge a lot lower. That movie had such an impact on me for some reason.
Same. It sat with me for days
@@desertpinevintage Me too, which is weird because I watch a lot of horror, including some pretty disturbing stuff. I guess something about it triggered me.
I think the issue with passing the original iceberg snuff films as horror is an underlying endorsement of real life cruelty and violence for voyeuristic cause/ cannot be artistic (in the same way war is not artistic simply because it's caught on film.)
Been waiting for this one forever ❤️❤️❤️ luv you girl, keep making this good stuff
I just watched a movie called The Monitor for the first time and I had the exact reaction as yours with Speak No Evil...just soooo many emotions- mostly anger, frustration, exasperation...it felt like a LOT. The movie itself isnt gory or disturbing it just evoked a lot of feelings in me. I swear, I felt like I needed a nap afterwards it was so draining hahaha!!
Love this idea for a video! Your iceburg is so much more relatable!
Snowtown while not being a horror movie through sheer cinematographic excellence still feels more real, immersive and terrifying than most horror movies
Cinematography and sound design as well when I think about it
I guess most of the audio was diagetic except for the opening and closing tracks
so early!!
also such a good video, especially cause it's posted on my bday :'D
happy birthday!! 🎉
@@PossessedbyHorror thank you so much! 🖤
I feel you SO hard on Dead End, I love to see someone else that feels the exact same way about that movie I do.
Great video, Sarah! I was typing a reply to ask where you would put Climax before you got to that part of the video. I found it sooo disturbing and upsetting. I also have enjoyed hallucinogens back in my day but I consented to take them, so that's a big difference. Between the themes of claustrophobia, eroding consent, and some particularly upsetting actions between characters, def not a rewatch for me even if it was well made.
Lake Mungo made me bawl my eyes out. Such a tragic movie. Great now I'm bawling again.
I feel like we have very different boundaries and no no’s when it comes to horror, you as a mother and me as someone who is deathly scared of pregnancy. One of the most disturbing films I’ve seen has to be The Clock. It’s not the most out there, or your ‘classic’ disturbing film, but to me the whole idea is terrifying, even if it’s predictable.
One of the ones that impacted me the most was "The girl next door", not because of jump scares or gore, but because of the emotional rollercoaster it takes you on. Such a depressing and disturbing film.
The fact that it’s based on a true story and was actually toned down and inserted an empathetic character for the movie makes it even more disturbing.
Thank you for making a REASONABLE horror ice berg!
I love seeing how other people rank movies based on their perception of what is disturbing for them, it really fascinates me! I CANNOT watch Tusk because the body-horror aspect is just too much for me and really freaks me out, but Sinister is one of my favorites because it scares me in the right way and amount that I usually look for in a horror movie. I am surprised to see it was ranked as the scariest. I can't handle much horror at all but that movie is perfect for me.
I also liked hereditary and the Audition. I could watch hereditary again, but I will never watch Audition again, even though I did ultimately think it was a good movie, I just cannot do that twice.
Only time ive felt physically ill during a movie was the gas pedal scene in human centipede 2 and that scene in Terrifier 2, just brutal.
