      No he wouldn’t have. That o line was ranked the worst in football when Emmitt got there and after the Super Bowl, most of that o line left free agency and they created a new line and Emmitt still did his thing. Barry had a good o line and Barry’s running style wasn’t gonna work with Dallas o line. It was a one cut a run o line. Barry liked to dance in the backfield and wait for a hole he felt would get him big plays instead of taking the initial hole created, that’s why he lost so many yards in the backfield. It’s amazing that Jim brown had the most hall of fame offensive linemen but nobody gives credit to that line, they give it jim. But Emmitt smith, they wanna give all the credit to the o line that most of you guys couldn’t even name. Emmitt was just good and could run with any o line. There are your facts

    Many years ago I worked at Home Depot in W.Bloomfield MI. Barry came into the plumbing dept. where I worked to buy items to make the necessary repairs he needed (in which he did himself). He’s an extremely humble guy. To this day, Barry believe Jim Brown was the greatest running back ever, even though it’s likely Barry could have been statistically had he not retired prematurely. He had many seasons left in the tank. All time great running back, but an even greater person!

    Barry Sanders is the greatest running back of all time, if he played as long as Emmitt Smith did, he would have DOUBLED Smith’s stat output and shattered every record possible of course given health. Barry was the perfect combination of strength, speed, intelligence & agility. Dude was a true magician on the field.

    • @patriots.celtics.bruins3035
      @patriots.celtics.bruins3035 2 года назад +1

      @@jbc_8110 True, but he would have topped it by a lot. Barry Played 10 seasons with 15,269 yards, 99 touchdowns. Emmitt Smith played 15 seasons with 18, 355 yards, 164 touchdowns. Barry with 5 extra seasons would have been around 21-22 thousand yards rushing and around 175-180 touchdowns…again with all things being equal (health). So ultimately you’re right, wouldn’t double him but still eclipse him in every category by a hood margin. Sanders never rushed for less then 1,100 yards in a season in his career, he also average 5 YPC for his career average…Emmitt only averaged 5+ YPC for one season. I like Emmitt Smith of course but the Goat RB is Barry Sanders and that’s as a New England Patriots fan.

    You mentioned that he looked big. He really wasn't though. Officially, I believe, he was listed as 5' 8" and 200 lbs. He also wasn't the fasted to play running back either. He may have been the best from zero to his top speed though - which was fast. He got there so quick that even if someone was faster, he already had a big head start before they could get up to their top speed to catch him. So fun to watch. You never knew when he would pull of one of those great runs.

    Notice: When the play is over, whether it was for a single yard or a long TD run, Barry simply hands or gently tosses the ball to the ref. No idiotic celebrations. No self centered chest thumping. No screaming or fist pumping. Just a “thank you very much, I’ll be over here if you need me” attitude. I always appreciated that part of Barry’s game. I was sitting in the corner of the end zone for run #46. :)
    Barry's insane because he's not only super fast, but he can stop, start, and change directions like no RB before or since. Seeing him on TV doesn't do justice to how quick he is when you see it in person.
    The Dallas Cowboys defense famously prepared for games against Detroit by chasing live chickens -- no joke -- because they said that's what it was like trying to tackle him.

    Watching his clips makes me realize how he had three amazing abilities. One, shifty moves. He's the shiftiest running back I've ever seen. Two, his initial burst of speed. He goes from zero to full speed ridiculously fast. Three, he doesn't seem to run out of energy on a long run. He had great vision, tremendous cut and side to side abilities and had a great burst of speed from a stopped position. One thing about Sanders is he had heart. Please do a Barry Bonds reaction video if you are into baseball. His bat speed, compact swing and hand eye coordination is unreal. Also in baseball it is more advantageous if you want to hit with power to position your hands lower on the bat handle(increases lever length thus adding more force applied on ball through torque)but makes it harder to control the bat while swinging. With Bonds he choked up really high (had over an inch of space between his bottom hand and the end of the bat) this really is unheard of today with so many players looking to hit homeruns. No one comes close to being as dominant and powerful as Barry was. Steroids aside he was quite the show!

    By the way, that was Mike Singletary, the Chicago Linebacker a hall of famer getting taken by Barry Sanders.

    I still think he retired out of respect for sweetness. He didn't want to break his rushing record.

    Barry is definitely the goat! Ask Emmett Smith he will tell you so. It’s sad that they would not give him a trade so he could go to a team that had a chance to win a Super Bowl. That’s why he retired when he did because he wasn’t going to get to the Super Bowl in Detroit.

    Walter Payton the greatest overall running back. Barry Sanders the best running back.

    Barry was a beast. He played on mediocre teams at best. They knew he was getting the ball and still couldn't stop him. Too bad he retired in his prime.

      That 95 team was far from mediocre. 2 1500 yd receivers and barry. Spielman, Moore and porcher were all borderline hall of famers and a kicker that was automatic from 50. Alot of the team's were trash though, just could never find a qb

    Watch highlights of John lynch and Ronnie Lott and you’ll see why qbs didn’t throw for 5,000 yards back then. Fun times then
