    Goat Goat Goat RB. No one is close. No one could do what he did. He just wasn't human.
    I saw him live here in Detroit. You don't understand how different it is seeing him do this in person, vs highlights... Everyone in the stadium held their breath every time he touched the ball. Opposing offenses didn't sit. They all toed the sideline like fanboys, to see what he'd do next. Not a hair over 5'6 either. I met him before. I'm 5'9 and he barely came up to my chin.

      @@jdspencer60 Not close... Bo played only 38 games over 4 injury plagued years. His BEST year he played 11 games and had 900yds. That's it. Yes, he was very fast. But Barry AVERAGED over 1,500yds a season for 10 years and retired in his prime because no one could touch him. This is what I mean by no one could touch him... ruclips.net/user/shortswCE-HyqnQzU?si=YLCqjEifvqUSaN6h

    “The coaches didn’t even get mad about us missing him…” that says it all right there. On the elite stage, he was unstoppable. Ask Reggie white and John lynch. He not only embarrassed players, he embarrassed entire teams and true NFLlegends.

    The Lions "game plan" was "give Barry the ball" and the entire defense knew it. They still couldn't stop him. We had bad teams in all though and other teams were always incomplete, bad QB, or bad D, or bad O-line, etc..

    They played the run and shoot offense, that's were the draw play first came from and Barry was hard to block for because he changed direction on every play and they quit using him on short yardage because he got hurt one year and they changed it.

    I watched Barry every season and every team that played them would put 7 to 8 in the box and try to stop Barry. They had no offense but Barry so teams would just have to stop him. Almost every play he would get hit in the back field multiple times. He would run for 15 seconds from sideline to sideline and only get two yards but he would break 3 or 4 tackles. Det had the worst line and was just a very bad team. Barry was truly the best running back when you take all of it into account hands down.

    Barry wasn't alone, Detroit had a decent wide receiver and qb while he played. They weren't great, but worse played. The team had ok defense, too. It's just that every other team had more great players than Detroit had so it generally devolved to give the ball to barry

    The offense revolved around Barry, but they had some great receivers at the time too. Herman Moore, Brett Perriman, Johnny Morton was good. They generally lacked a great QB and bad coaching at times. Never had an great defense.

    No doubt he was faster than most mortal men but his top end speed wasn't anything compared to his agility, quick burst acceleration, and vision. You see him get caught from behind plenty of times but I have to imagine everything just happened a little slower in his eyes. Goat rb imho

    Barry is the best I ever saw with my own two eyes. Better than Walter better that Dickerson, and most def better than Emmitt. If Barry had the best O line ever assembled (make no mistake the Cowboys Line in the early 90’s is the best O line of all time) he would have all the records. He would have an average yards per carry of 9 yards.

  • @cbebrad
    @cbebrad 3 месяца назад

    The Lions had some of the worst head coaches in the NFL before, during, and after Barry Sanders. If he had been with a top tier organization, Barry would have put up numbers that would never be broken. There were games in which Barry barely touched the ball in the second half of games because they were often 2-3 touchdowns behind in the game. It drove me crazy when the coach would decide to only throw the ball when their best chance of a getting a long gain wasn't throwing the ball, it was given it to Sanders. Barry never a had a quarterback who opponents feared, hence they(the defense)would scheme to stop Barry. Yet he still put up incredible numbers. Had he played with, say, John Madden's Oakland Raiders, Barry would have had unbelievable stats. The Raiders at the time had great offensive lines and really inventive blocking schemes that quite often gave opposing defenses fits, while in Detroit Barry was, most of the time, running behind mediocre blockers, unimaginative blocking schemes that fooled no one, and a poor passing game. Barry could have put up 2000yds every year had he been with the Raiders, or Miami Dolphins, or Pittsburg Steelers, ect.

    Yeah, the Lions wasted Megatron just like they wasted Barry. It would have been cool to see them play together. But Herman Moore was also an awesome WR, he was Barry's teammate for almost their entire careers. They just didn't have a good QB, or line, during that time. Honestly, the Lions wasting Barry then Megatron, should have gotten them retracted from the league. How do you do that to back-to-back generational talents?
