As I read your comment/story something hit me. First off, I'm sorry your bike has been sidelined so long. I too know how it is to find people who are knowledgeable and fair on thier work. With that being said, I have been a drag racer most of my life. ( 47 years). And it was hard to find people who would help and not rob me. After a few bad results. I decided if I was gonna have to wait till whenever they decided to work on my stuff. And with no guarantee on anything because it was a " Race Car".... I would just study and learn how to do stuff myself. And I did, I now have a machine shop and have/run a Blown Alcohol Dragster. I said that to say this. It sounds like you have a business potential in your area. Start small and it will come . You'll have fun making money doing something you love. If you had to wait, soo have others. !! Take advantage of a good situation my friend. May you be blessed in all that you do. 💯 👍

Been looking for a video on this level of detail. I’ve current got my CID box and my fuses zip tied to the frame rail like a champ after I hardtailed my bike. I’m all motivated to clean it up now!
Just ordered the harness and a couple other goodies. Had to grab the Ultima and a couple other things elsewhere cause you’re out of stock. This video was super informative. About to order your hardtail kit and get after it. Thanks!
I loved using the little Ultima module that was just a little bit bigger than a Zippo lighter for stripped down choppers , wondering if they still carry them🤔
hi, i'm trying to follow this guide. at 9:30 the second connector of the regulator cuts it from the original wiring and welds it to bring it to the 30Amp relay. but the connector has two wires... why do you bring only one?
The second wire in the connector is the ground wire so it can just be grounded to the frame. The regulator on our bike only had one wire. That's why ours is different from yours. It varies between model years.
Yep! It should be very similar. Except for small details like the color of the wires everything covered in the video will be applicable to a '94 Softail running the Dyna 2000 ignition. Also, the wiring harness in the video is specifically designed for Sportster choppers running our hardtail kit so some of the wire lengths might be off if you plan on using that.
Awesome tutorial bro! If I could request anything, could you guys do a simplified tutorial on how to hook up rear signals on a chopper build? My state requires them.
Thanks for the feedback! We are seriously considering developing a harness to be used with blinkers. I don't have a release date for that but it's on our list of video topics!
@@foxchase1993 Yep, the blinkers harness would be separate from our original harness and just used to run blinkers. Both harnesses could be used together.
@@ThrottleAddictionCo Would you have it be just for rear blinkers? Or would you have an option in there for both front and rear? IF you could get both with a simplified harness, I would be the first to buy it!

Extending on this, what is the “attack” (where green wire connects from ignition module), what’s the purpose? Where is it found? Having a hard time figuring this out online….. thanks to anyone that can step in and explain!
@@86erprospect So I think by "Attack" you mean "a Tach", that's short for Tachometer. Sorry I probably only called it a Tach in the video I see how that could be confusing. The Tachometer is your RPM gauge on the dashboard. If you want to run a tachometer that connects to the Ultima ignition with a green wire that comes off the Ultima module to the pink tach wire that should already be on your bike. 1) It can be modified to work on a stock sportster, some of the wire links will need too be adjusted. 2) The break switch replaces your stock banjo bolt. 3) You do not need the Ultima ignition, however the harness is designed around it for a cleaner install.
We should have some back in stock early next week. Do you have a limited wiring harness for a 2009 1200 custom I am building a hardtail and I want to get rid of all the wiring except for what I need can you help me
Sick. I had a bike stolen 2 years ago and I just got it back. Meth heads fucked it up, so now I’m redoing the wiring. What is the gage on the jumper wire? Is that 16 as well?
When configuring the ignition switches I noticed that you set the VOES to 'OFF' is that because this model does not have one fitted as stock? My 1991 FLHS EVO model does so I assume that needs to bet to set to 'On' ? Also would you recommend carrying out Dynamic timing as well as opposed to just Static timing as you felt it unnecessary to do so with this bike as this is further evidence this has no VOES fitted or can I just as you have demonstrated leave this element of work well alone and just settle for for the Static timing instead?
Ours also came with VOES, we just chose to eliminate it. In the Ultima instructions it says to set Switch 1 to OFF whether you are using VOES or not using VOES. The only time you set Switch 1 to ON is on nitrous or turbo equipped bikes. You certainly can dynamic time the bike to further dial it in, but we generally just static time and call it good enough. We'll only dynamic time if we notice an issue while it's running after static timing.
The Ultima kit includes the coil and ignition module, so if you want to follow our exact set up in this video you'd be buying the Ultima ignition kit (SKU: 4026) and our Sportster wiring harness (SKU: 4077). Here are the links; Ultima Ignition kit: www.throttleaddiction.com/ultima-single-fire-programmable-ignition-kit-big-twin-xl/ Sportster Harness: www.throttleaddiction.com/deluxe-evolution-sportster-hardtail-wiring-harness-kit-1986-2003/
The harness will still work and the process is similar, but you will need to retrofit it to the original ignition components. That will vary a lot depending on which year Sportster you've got
i have a 2001 1200 sportster custom and also own the manual. the manual shows that i should be dynamically timing it until the 2 DOTS come into the center of the timing window. is this the same 2 Dots that should be used for Static timing ? no matter how many times i can get that vertical line to show, the ignition module never lights up but will light up when the 2 dots are in the center. curious to hear your take on this. i would really appreciate it
UPDATE: scratch what I said I was not on the compression TDC. I forgot to slowly check how high up the piston reaches after my finger gets pushed out by the air lol . Solid vertical line was there after. All is well
@@Horrented Ultima doesn't say anywhere that it's required after installing the module so it's not necessary. We generally just run premium all the time though since gas mileage on bikes is so good and gummed-up carbs are so annoying haha.
Possible to do this with inline fuses rather than the circuit breaker? Also, I plan on running a no keyed push button start. As long as I have an ON/OFF switch for the ignition, I am thinking it should be fine. Am I delusional?
This maybe a stupid question ...but do you know how i can junk half of the wiring of a 2019 royal enfield interceptor, junk the abs and run normal brakes !!!!! , cos the enfield is a great bike but ....to much wiring !!!! Thanks in advance.
You can but our harness is designed for Evo motors so you would need to address the different charging system of an Ironhead, it would take a bit of modifying for it to work

The harness will still work and the process is similar, but you will need to retrofit it to the original ignition components. That will vary a lot depending on which year Sportster you've got
Why Single fire vs Dual fire? and why no VOES?
what was the reason to remove the scremaing eagle other than having to order extra instead usning whats there
That screaming eagle was probably dual fire.
Please make a hardness for a 84-85 ironhead sportster please
If I’m keeping my speedo but don’t have a tacho would I keep the green wire still?
If you're talking about the green wire coming off the Ultima ignition then no, you would not need that wire in order to run your speedometer
@@ThrottleAddictionCo sick I appreciate the quick response thank you guys!
How could you incorporate a kill switch? Just put it between the key switch A and the + on the coil?
Yep! Thank would work
i have a 2001 1200 sportster custom and also own the manual. the manual shows that i should be dynamically timing it until the 2 DOTS come into the center of the timing window. is this the same 2 Dots that should be used for Static timing ? no matter how many times i can get that vertical line to show, the ignition module never lights up but will light up when the 2 dots are in the center. curious to hear your take on this. i would really appreciate it
module im using is the ultima 53-644
UPDATE: scratch what I said I was not on the compression TDC. I forgot to slowly check how high up the piston reaches after my finger gets pushed out by the air lol . Solid vertical line was there after. All is well
@@Horrented Awesome glad to hear you got it sorted🤘
@@ThrottleAddictionCo one thing I was curious about was if we need to run premium gas after installing this module given the more aggressive curves .
Yep that sounds like it'll work, nothing jumps out at us that would be a problem in that scenario.
@@ThrottleAddictionCo Fanfuckingtastic. Thanks friends.
Anyone know what the factory wires are coming from the keyswitch. 03 sportster, I got solid red, red/white, red/black. Looks like 12 gauge wire.
Red=Main power into ignition; Red/white=On in ACC and Ignition; red/black=On in Ignition
@@ThrottleAddictionCo thanks guys!
This maybe a stupid question ...but do you know how i can junk half of the wiring of a 2019 royal enfield interceptor, junk the abs and run normal brakes !!!!! , cos the enfield is a great bike but ....to much wiring !!!!
Thanks in advance.
Thanks bro so much
Do a wiring job on a 1988 softail custom
Can anyone tell me which wires (blue and white) go to which cylinders on the coil
White is hot, it doesn't go to any cylinder, it goes in the middle of the coil
Blue rear, pink front
Anyone having issues with motor mount bolts behind the ignition ?
I need to see Screaming -Eagle egnision box
Can I use this harness on an 83 ironhead?
You can but our harness is designed for Evo motors so you would need to address the different charging system of an Ironhead, it would take a bit of modifying for it to work
Make more banjo pressure switches
