Dio was truly the best artist in his and many other categories. We were fortunate enough to have seen him perform at least a dozen times. When he got sick my mother commented that I would be sadder on his passing than I would be on her own. I cried for 3 days when he left us. She was right. What a loss
I was 16 when I first was listening to rainbow.. Since that day deep in the woods in my old opel car, I had no driving licence, together with my dear friends...from which only me is the only one surviving all that drugs..... I never will forget.... It was amazing and full of love
1,000,000,000 thumbs up! When I'm depressed, I listen to Blackmore. Or when I'm happy, angry, running, sleeping, working... anytime is time for the best music on the planet!
95 dislike this! Is that even possible? What an intro! How can anybody don´t like this? Blackmore on his absolute, musically top. Rainbow, what a band and what musicians, Blackmore, Powell, Dio, Stone and Daisley. This is music at it´s BEST!!!! Ritchie Blackmore, No one can play like him!
Sixteeth Century Greensleeves (LIVE 1977 MUNICH) Rainbow 1977: Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar Ronnie J. Dio - Vocals Bob Daisley - Bass Dave Stone - Keyboards Cozy Powell - Drums
"Crossbows in the firelight"... Rainbow well deserves to be a legend... Wonderful music and feeling. I only feel sorry that they never recorded Lady of the Lake live.
WOW! Lady of the lake is one of my favorite Rainbow songs!!! very flat sound on the lp... remasterd on spotify has more bass! Cheers from north Sweden. 1 meter snow -10 my Polaris indy 500 -91 still rippin´
OF COURSE THEY DESERVE TO BE IN THE HALL OF FAME.....Ritchie is the great driving force in this unstoppable machine that was Rainbow ......incredible ....thanks for this video.....
I recorded Ronnie with Black Sabbath live in concert in 1993 in Tampa Florida. I’ll never forget what a beautiful presence he was throughout the day. Rehearsal, soundcheck, dinner and the show, Ronnie was such a giving and ‘up’ person. Helpful and considerate to everyone involved. I’m not sure why, but that stuck with me even more than the music.
It cool to see Germany,I think the biggest Deep Purple fans must in Germany I can tell from the live performances and crowd reactions, and from Richtie feeling it u can tell in his playing in Germany.....wow and THANKS
must have been such a wonderful experience standing on the fisrt row, with ronnie there, no more than a couple of feet at his best...LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL
The most underrated drummer ever. Cozy was a beast. Sad he isn't considered in the same league alongside likes of Bonham, Moon, Paice as one of the the most influential and kick ass drummers of all time. 🙌
Of course Powell isn't considered in the same league as those jazzy hard rock drummers, he's the pioneer of speed metal! He's in the whole another, bigger league with modern, prog, power, death and black metal double bass drummers!
EPICO !!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
And they didn't have native instruments, Guitar rig loop machines computers or stacks of fancy set ups on stage either but I saw them at hammersmith in 81 and they were a bit loud! Richie on a bad night you'd want to miss out but on a good night he was inspirational.just the best there was at the time don't forget this is 35 years ago.
Absolutely Nothing Can Be Compared With This Rainbow Age, Religion And Cult Of Rock Expressed In The Highest Way, Hail To The Gods Who Made It Possible, Gifted Blackmore and Ronnie James make it real M A G I C!, LONG LIVE!
They are just soooooooooo good together. Ronnie is the best singer and writer or all time and Ritchie is in a league of his own too. I could listen to that all day every day.
david stick It’s a mix of Greensleeves and Bach, he has a piece of the Brandenburg Concerto in the middle of Greensleeves, and returns to Greensleeves before starting the song. It’s really epic!
It suddenly got stuck in my head and not the Blackmore version and I haven’t been listening to Rainbow recently. Anyways I was looking for this comment, thanks.
It's only been an hour Since he locked her in the tower The time has come He must be undone By the morning Many times before The tyrant's opened up the door Then someone cries Still we close our eyes Not again Meet me when the sun is in the western skies The fighting must begin before another someone dies Cross bows in the fire light Green sleeves waving Madmen raving Through the shattered night Yeah yeah yeah Flames are getting higher Make it leap unto the spire Draw bridge down Cut it to the ground We shall dance around the fire No more night We have seen the light Let it shine on bright Hang him higher, higher Draw bridge down Cut it to the ground We shall dance all around the fire, around the fire No more night we've seen the light let it shine on bright Hang him higher, higher Put the man on the fire Draw bridge down Cut it to the ground We gotta dance around the fire, the fire, the fire
Ritchie Blackmore deserves the same amount of praise that Dio always gets on these videos. Long live Blackmore 🎸
Richie is brilliant, but DIO is just light yeats ahead of the rest.
Oh my goodness... Ronnie’s voice just blows my mind... Miss him so much.
He was a monster. What a talent.
Love this much more than his work as Dio
@@Frank_inSA I consider his early work as Dio to be as good as this... but just very different.
Dio was truly the best artist in his and many other categories. We were fortunate enough to have seen him perform at least a dozen times. When he got sick my mother commented that I would be sadder on his passing than I would be on her own. I cried for 3 days when he left us. She was right. What a loss
ritchie blackmore on guitar, cozy powell on drums and ronnie james dio on vocals... a masterpiece!
don´t forget the bassist and a good taste keyboard player. A really great band
Yes the late great Jimmy Bain on Bass and Tony Carey on Keyboards definately the best incarnation of Rainbow by Far...
PS. Not in this video clip by the way ...
Ritchie blackmore s rainbow brilliant band
I’m nearly 60 years young due to this band Ritchie, Cozy ans Ronnie , best band forever
ΒΥ ΦΑΡ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
58 next week! 😝
62 and loving this
I feel like 15 when I listen to him
I don't always listen to Rainbow but when i do,so do my neighbours.Long live rock & rmy friends............!
Oh Yeah!
Not only do the neighbors hear the music but also get the wonderful chance to hear me SCREAMiNG with DIO !!!!!
Lee you are a a true believer, never give up the faith. My parents were huge fans of Rainbow back in the 70's whether they wanted to be or not.
you guys should come be my neighbors
Same here, only my neighboring States get to listen, too! 😊
I was 16 when I first was listening to rainbow..
Since that day deep in the woods in my old opel car, I had no driving licence, together with my dear friends...from which only me is the only one surviving all that drugs..... I never will forget.... It was amazing and full of love
lovely memories💜
@James Hodson 😁👍👌🤘
Aahhh the drugs...

Time stops when he plays the intro.....so transcending and peaceful.
Kanchan Basu i love it
Yes I agree, feel the same way! Ritchie Blackmore, YES!!!!!!
45, still rocking the same way!
35 years ago and still so fresh! Some great musicians: Ronnie, Ritchie, Cozy!
Now 46 years ago
- This concert is easily one of the best ever dvd-releases!!
Rainbow "On Stage" is one of the best rock albums of all times!
If I had a time machine I'd go back and watch this live
Me too. Nowhere else, only this concert❤
So would I
Me too!!
fuckyesss!!
me tio
Even after 40 years, it's still a popular song. I envy the people who got to see this live.
The intro in this song was so over the top great Bravo Mr Blackmore
It was to be a premonition of what the future held for Ritchie Blackmore
Looked like he was content with his loot and wife in their castle to me
1,000,000,000 thumbs up! When I'm depressed, I listen to Blackmore. Or when I'm happy, angry, running, sleeping, working... anytime is time for the best music on the planet!
Oh so beautiful. Ritchie Blackmore and the song Greensleeves makes me so proud to be English. Thank you so much for posting.
the best ever Rainbow
All hail the greatest heavy metal guitarist of all time
...Father of power metal and neoclassical metal !!!

They didn't want it in their feed. Don't let it bother you.
@@OldRunt I don´t, just wanted to point out some opinions of a really great band. That´s fine by me.
This is probably one of my all time stand out songs....dang I miss Ronnie god bless him...
Amazing. Just brilliant guitar playing!
that ritchie intro is pure class, good taste. wonderful song💪
Holy shit this is frickin’ EPIC!!!! Dio & Blackmore were straight amazing together.
You can´t beat this. Period.
Seen him in1979. Acid trippin amazing night. Miss the greats from a time when rockin roll was pure.
Sixteeth Century Greensleeves (LIVE 1977 MUNICH)
Rainbow 1977:
Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
Ronnie J. Dio - Vocals
Bob Daisley - Bass
Dave Stone - Keyboards
Cozy Powell - Drums
When a masterpiece is created!
I just ordered the dvd
Munich '77
By far the best guitarrist ever
"Crossbows in the firelight"... Rainbow well deserves to be a legend... Wonderful music and feeling. I only feel sorry that they never recorded Lady of the Lake live.
I think 'crossbows in the firelight' define the era, the song, and brings it home! Good call!

An absolute masterpiece, Dio and Rainbow are timeless!
Stunning, Ritchie Blackmore!
Just stunning.
He’s absolutely one of the most stunning musicians ever. Dio’s vocals are one of a kind.
greensleves is one of the best songs ever written.

Ritchie's & Dio's awsomeness. I was actually looking for the video of this particular song's performance.
Thankx maxxblade
what a voice! Dio!
The best voice ever...
2:59 I love how he raises his hand while going away to pass the mic to Dio, but the spotlight follows him
That's why the band is called "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" and not "Ronnie James Dio's Rainbow".
blackmore always knew what he want from himself and the crowd . he is a musician and the others not. this what im thinking.
The best beginning I have ever listened
This takes me back to happy days
This is magnificent
A super band, not wait a second... A legend band!!!
RIP Ronnie.......you truly were one of the great rock lead voices of all time
must have been such a wonderful experience standing on the fisrt row, with ronnie there, no more than a couple of feet at his best...LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL
Saw this tour on the UK, blew the roof off the building, in my top three concerts of my life.
my first live concert, and still one of the best !
Fantastic band . So many great memories
Masterpiece
The most underrated drummer ever. Cozy was a beast. Sad he isn't considered in the same league alongside likes of Bonham, Moon, Paice as one of the the most influential and kick ass drummers of all time. 🙌
He isnt underrated, but I understand your concept. I remember Led Zeppelin want him for the new lineup on 1980
Of course Powell isn't considered in the same league as those jazzy hard rock drummers, he's the pioneer of speed metal! He's in the whole another, bigger league with modern, prog, power, death and black metal double bass drummers!
I love the part when he silences the crowd lol
the way he gives the mic to Ronnie is hilarious too
i bet the crowd clapping along anooyed the hell outta him........its distracting AF for musicians
Ritchie Blackmore was in control. Only god controls him. By his playing it’s evident
When I get a time machine, this is the first place and time I'm going to.

This Concert is perfect
Totally amazing...Love This rainbow lineup....R.I.P....Ronnie & Cozy
groups with such a fantastic lineup do not exist anymore !
Cozy & Ronnie & Ritchie = Best member of Rainbow
One of my absolute favourite songs. Love the lyrics.
This is a Masterpiece!
Love the 3rd movement of Bach's 3rd Brandenburg Concerto at the beginning - and the song of course!
No...it is a classical folk tune registered by Richard Jones...who probably did not write it
david stick It’s a mix of Greensleeves and Bach, he has a piece of the Brandenburg Concerto in the middle of Greensleeves, and returns to Greensleeves before starting the song. It’s really epic!

Draw bridge down!! One of the greatest vocal performances in all of rock and roll.
very nice song great performance
It's only been an hour
Since he locked her in the tower
The time has come
He must be undone
By the morning
Many times before
The tyrant's opened up the door
Then someone cries
Still we close our eyes
Not again
Meet me when the sun is in the western skies
The fighting must begin before another someone dies
Cross bows in the fire light
Green sleeves waving
Madmen raving
Through the shattered night
Yeah yeah yeah
Flames are getting higher
Make it leap unto the spire
Draw bridge down
Cut it to the ground
We shall dance around the fire
No more night
We have seen the light
Let it shine on bright
Hang him higher, higher
Draw bridge down
Cut it to the ground
We shall dance all around the fire, around the fire
No more night
we've seen the light
let it shine on bright
Hang him higher, higher
Put the man on the fire
Draw bridge down
Cut it to the ground
We gotta dance around the fire, the fire, the fire
Superb Great Ritchie and all Band
I love this version due the speed of song, increased compared to the studio version
The most intense set up and concert Rainbow ever made
