To help clear up, this show takes place in the DCU, the new Superman's universe. The DCEU has been scrapped completely apart from Peacemaker and exists as a forgotten timeline, as a result of the events of the flash movie.
James gunn said the suicide squad should be treated like an unreliable memory. So not everything in that movie is cannon. And as for peacemaker season 1. Apart from the justice league showing up at the end, everything in it is cannon.
@@DaWhisper yeah but simce peacemaker saeason one is like a direct sequel to the suicide squad pretty much ok of the suicide squad is canon, minus maybe a few casting and the fact that bloodsport shot superman
@starbirds2464 the way i see it, the only way anything from the suicide squad becomes cannon, is if it is referenced in the dcu. Things like rick flag jr death, and peacemaker and weasel surviving. Things like the thinker, captain boomerang and polka dot man's death, might not even be cannon anymore. Heck, Harley might've never been part of the mission in the first place.
To explain the continuity of this and the dcu, as we know right now suicide squad 2021, peacemaker season 1( except for the justice league showing up), creature commandoes, and the new Superman are canon to the new dcu. And btw they are making a green lantern show for the dcu
Honestly they shouldn’t have had the cameo of the justice league in peace maker. Would it made it easier to just say 2021 the sucicide squad was part of the dcu
I really like The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Creature Commandos. But god WB needs to stop glazing the suicide squad. It reminds me of What If with Captain Carter
I just stumbled across your channel a few days ago and have to say I really enjoy watching your content! Also fyi The only DCU canon projects so far are the following: The suicide squad Peacemaker Creature commandos And the new superman Everything else is relegated to the dceu trash bin (except for joker and the Batman, which are elseworlds and aren’t connected to either)
@garv04 gtfoutta here, yes it is. Creature commandos is a sequel to suicide squad 2021, which was a sequel to 2016 SS. Which belonged to the dceu. Now we're still using characters from that timeline in the new one. Do you know what confusing even means?
Strangely enough, the Gunnverse that has been growing out of the crumbling remnants of the Snyderverse continuity (in-universe you can try to justify it with the Flash warping reality with time travel, but that film screwed the pooch on actually using the film to do that and left it on a George Clooney as Bruce Wayne joke) has more in common with something like Doom Patrol than anything else, which has a similarly fantastical and wacky setting where the paranormal, along with superheroes and supervillains, have been public phenomena for decades. Combine that with the model of using diverse mediums, it opens the door for more comic-accurate plots and characters right out of the gate, which if done with care for writing good stories, it should in theory be able to last longer than it's predecessor, baring it doesn't become an overcorrection of Snyder's often overly self-serious work to make an overly wacky setting as time goes on where nothing matters. 4:28, Take for instance the weird power scaling of Weasel being overpowered by two regular cops and later brutalizing an injured Circe into submission quicker than the Bride (who threw a car at her and rammed them both through a building without damaging either of them). 3:39, But also, Phosphorus using his body as a lightsaber to burn through that tank and its operators was such a creative and hilarious use of his powers, 4:09, which tracks considering his powers are the most unique in the team, even if again, the power scaling is weird where Phosphorus is later shown effortlessly ramming through a wall and impaling people on his arm without charging up his body's surface (it's at least shown he needs to put effort into heating his surface up to burn through stronger objects) and he'd have no reason to hold back when fighting Rick (although, Gunn seems to be going more for the comic accuracy of some regular, as in non-superpowered, humans being inexplicably super-abled or "peak human" because of training or just being genetic freaks).
It’s a solid show. I don’t really see it as the start to the universe cuz it’s very low stakes but it’s a cool side project. To me it’s like a solid 6.5-7/10. Nothing about it is particularly special but the animation is good, some of the jokes are good, and it’s very quick and to the point. The story is super basic so it’s not something that people NEED to see but it’s entertaining enough. I’ve just seen so many damn good animated projects that this doesn’t really compare. Despite technically being the first DCU project, I still think Superman will feel like the true start to the new universe, and whether that movie sticks the landing will determine the success of the universe.
I'm of the same opinion mostly, to me this show is more style than substance which honestly isnt a problem when the style is pretty damn cool. As someone who's not a dc fan I'd love to see more animated series of the universe with this level of polish and quality
I just finished the episode six of Creature Commandoes and I gotta say the episodes get more messed up than the last, and Idk who had it the worst Dr Phosphorus or Weasel
Gonna be honest, I'm not a DCU hater but I don't think they cooked at all with Creature Commandos. It's not very funny, the animation is bad, and it's just a weird way to start off the new universe. If you like it, good, but I genuinely don't understand the appeal there.
Creature commandos is ok but every episode being a flashback of characters we do not care about is kind of annoying. Like bro let the characters marinate first before showing us what makes them tick. Let us see the final product. On how they act. Make us intrigued then give us the why. Also its very formulaic. Every episode is the same. Backstory. Main story action scene with song. Back story ending. Main story ending where nothing happens. Or if they really wanted a backstory flashback. It should've been the bride and Eric. Thats it. Since they are from pokolistan. But make pokolistan integrated to their story. With both of their backstory you can just replace pokolistan with some random eastern European country and nothing would change. The bride even mocks them by stereotyping the pokoli people with other eatern european cultures. Girl you're from here. These are literally your people. Their flesh literally made you. What are you pretending to be American for? Anyways creature commandos is fun but it would've been better if they sticked to a single storyline. I know James gunn also does those flashback in his movies. But in them the flashbacks aren't really the focus of the story. While in creature commandos the flashbacks are the focus. And I dont really care about them to care about their backstories. I think the bride only gets an handfull of lines before her flashback kicks in. And during her flashback she's also fighting cerce. And I would much rather the focus be solely on the cerce fight rather than seeing snippets of Victor frankestein performing necrophilia with his own creation (this freak got a whole wife and kids bruh) while Eric watches like cuckold.
My guy, that’s literally the whole point of the flashbacks, to MAKE you care them. Backstories are what make people care about characters. How am I supposed to care about a character of I don’t know what makes them tick first?
@NickWhite-fw7dx my dude why would I care about their backstories if I dont care about the now? The great pretenders also does the baclstory thing. But that does it well because the backstory is actually connected to the main story. So the backstories of the characters actually helps the main story and flesh it out. Creature commandos doesn't do that. They had the chance with the bride and Eric. But they chose to do their own thing. The backstories don't add to the main plot. And the main plot doesn't nothing with the backstories. So you can ignore one part of the story and not have it effect the other part of the story.
@ Hard disagree. Backstories don’t always have to contribute to the main story. Plus, Phosphorus’ backstory came in like episode 6, which means he had like 5 episodes of screentime before they showed you his backstory. That’s plenty of time to actually care about him. Weasel had like 3 episodes and he was previously shown in TSS. That’s also plenty of time of him “marinating”.
@@NickWhite-fw7dx yeah phosphorus had 6 episode where all we see is him burn stuff repeatedly, only thing fo note he does is try to steal the remote from rick flag. we dont have enough time for them to marinate because one character just takes over each episode, if they wanted to make an anthological series they should've just done that.
