7:12 no Supreme Boi isn't a part of BTS. He works at their company as a producer and songwriter. He was suposed to be a part of BTS before they changed from being debuted as a hip-hop group to being debuted as a k-pop group instead.

yeah, he's trash, and homophobic too, he even posted a homophobic tweet once, and bts_twt and hitmanb both replyed joking, hitmanb asking if namjoon was gay, playing around, but armys criticised supreme boi (the tweet was something like "the song is great but i don't agree with homossexuality, i don't like it, not judging if you do, though"), so he deleted it, but bts' and hitmanb's tweets are still there if you search. He also said shit about ARMYs once, i can't remember what exactly

Fun fact, in Korean an euphemism for orgasming is "going to Hong Kong" and in Suga's verse his exact lyric is "I'll take you to Hong Kong" basically.
I have seen some really homophobic reactions from reactor channels to this line, specifically the fact that it's intentionally directed to both men and women, so I feel like it's worth shouting out this guy for being aware that it was clearly has a sexual double meaning but being totally cool with it.

RM changed lyrics *when guys are smoking and girls are cheating* to *when someone is smoking and someone is cheating* because he don't want to target a particular gender for it so he changed it.

So the reference to who J-hope was talking about, rappers trying to rap in english has to be a reference to a korean rapper named B-Free. B-free is a korean underground rapper who was born and raised in Hawaii, so he does tend to use a lot of english in his raps.
Suga and RM were established underground rappers, they've both taken part in a number of underground rap competitions. From the age of 12 RM was already well known in those circles, which is just crazy. Originally bts was supposed to be a hip hop rap group like 1TYM. When the decision was made to make them an idol group instead and after they debuted as such, a lot of their old circle couldn't handle it. One of those people was B-free, who insulted rm and suga to their faces on a show and called them girls who wear make up, and said he found it personally disgusting. He said that bts betrayed hip hop and sold out for money, made fun of their stage names, bighit's ceo pd bang, and just would not stop. The ARMY that were there filmed the interaction.
Because RM and Suga don't have such rudeness in them, and because they were the youngest people in the room (there is a common hierarchy of respect in korea that is largely built on age), they sat there and took it while this grown ass "underground rapper" condescended and talked down to them, b-free who was literally 10+ years older than them (30). RM and suga were polite and took it well, just very calmly trying to explain their thoughts. But the incident greatly upset ARMY, and so they decided to put all the things they wanted to say in their music.
And they all just went savage on this dude on the beat, which is what you see here with even j-hope like "get your dusty english rapping out my face." But of the 3, the one person who has never taken his foot of b-free's neck is Suga. Suga even saying "why don't you go back to hawaii" and "just like your parents my heart hurts looking at you." as well as a multitude of other things. I believe the entire agust d track is about him and these conceited underground rappers with him saying "y'all need to thank me that i decided to become an idol."
And of course, B-free's career has never recovered. It's been in free fall ever since. To this day his shit gets a ton of dislikes even though he has apologized publicly twice. He is a pariah even in underground circles. And in the ultimate karma of writing checks your ass can't cash, homeboy got arrested and jailed the day Suga's Dwaechita came out which is just... chef's kiss.

Hey KnoxHill! Kagemusha is the Japanese term for a political decoy, literally meaning "shadow warrior". 11:19 Here Suga is saying that everything you see on TV is kagemusha, meaning a smoke courtain to cover things up.

This cypher is probably one of the best live performances due to Suga's part at 12:45. While on stage he pulls out a watch that is on his wrist and literally times himself on how long he takes to say the verse but also shows how long he is able to rap without a single breath in between. Man is a legend

The Cypher series is like their response to the haters they've gotten over the years. You'll notice in Cypher Pt. 4 it's almost like the last message to them! I won't spoil anymore but you'll see why it is labeled as their "last" cypher and there is not an official pt.5
One of the first songs I heard when I started looking into BTS. That's when I went "oooh American media is doing them dirty by pigeonholing them". The perception I had of them by American music media before and the reality was stark.
Yup they do bts dirty. But they pay the repent cause you know ARMY.
BTS was invited by Seo Taiji and Boys to join them on stage for their 25th anniversary and sing the song "Come Back Home". They were also asked/allowed by Taiji to record their own version. It has a West Coast vibe to the beat and I think it gets overlooked. It is 100% worth checking out. :) The original was released in 1995 and the BTS version was 2017.
Supreme Boi is an in-house producer from BigHit (BTS' label/company) and was ALMOST a member of BTS. All four of the cyphers were aimed at their haters, mainly from the Korean underground HipHop scene that said they were sell-outs and not "real rappers" for being "idols".
I think him, along with Pdogg and Slow Rabbit are the main producers for BigHit, yeah?

supreme boi is the part of the producing team of BTS. he is also a solo rapper. he was a former trainee with RM and yoongi. But when their CEO Mr BANG PD said that the grp won't be a hip hop grp but will be an idol grp he confessed that he can't become the member but rather take part as a producer and he featured here as a rapper and he is talented indeed.
I think for the next you should definitely do Cypher Pt. 4 and then check out their medley performance. It shows Pts. 1-4 with them performing all of pt.4 while they each get to rap one part in 1-3. (J-Hope raps his lines in pt.1, Suga raps his lines pt. 2 and RM raps lines pt. 3 then they all do pt. 4)
Just the fact that this was a live performance is enough to wanna watch! 🔥

I think you need to step into JHope's and RM's solo stuff -given how you've reacted to Suga's solos; RM justifies why he's called Rap Monster, and J-Hope spins the aggressiveness associated with Hip-Hop and Rap to make it lighter, more uplifting.
RM changed the meaning of his name from Rap Monster to Real Me back in 2017 though, remember? I get what you meant by commenting, but he did change the meaning because he didn't feel Rap Monster matched who he is.

Knox, I just want to say I love your BTS breakdowns so much. This may be a long comment so stick with me. It’s so refreshing seeing such a talented rapper like yourself really appreciate them. I truly think you’d benefit from looking at the proper lyrics on doolset or similar that explains them better just to aid your reactions. It’s just that I’d hate for you to miss out on the genius of some of these lyrics because honestly, these translations are really not good. I hope that’s okay to suggest. Thanks again man and also thank you for doing your own thing. People can get a lot of hate if they connect to BTS, they are so misjudged so I hope you know that we really are thankful for you not following the crowd. I have to say - and mind you, I’ve been ARMY lovin rap line for 7 years - and you are the first “rapper” (and a fucking good one) that gets what they’re saying. You got MAD skill and I am literally on the edge of my seat waiting for you to watch the DKDK TV explained DDANG ( which is pronounced like dang) and then watching you melt at the lyrical talent. I’m old. I grew up in D-Town (Detroit) whole Em was coming up. Showing my age but I was at eight mile and that movie hit close. KRS-ONE and Ice-T Freedom of Speech is my home. I saw Ice do Cop Killer at Lalapaloza. This is a long and rambling way of me saying in every way, you right and you tight. Keep it up man. You’re an intellectual and and those are the rappers that matter.

I have this uneducated feeling that BTS rap being appreciated by American rappers will slowly, surely and importantly raise the standards of rap here. I'm all for genius lyrics and creative, unexpected flows like this...so refreshing and necessary to raise the bar. PLEASE help raise the bar!
I said it before and I'll say it again. In terms of rap, no kpop group comes close to BTS' rap line and their word play. Whenever l hear that they'll release a new song, l can't help but get excited about what they've been working on.

Wordplay here: sewer in Korean is spelled "하수구" and savory in Korean is spelled "구수하다" if u look closely, the spelling of "하수구" is the same as '"구수하"다' flipped backwards so in summary, *this- "하수구">>"구수하"다 - is what happened*

Omg I love that you said you loved Cypher 1 and 2, but 3 seemed like they leveled up! I always thought that's how it went, you love 1, but then you're like damn 2 is even better. Then you hear 3 and you're like sheeesh they got even better. And then cypher pt 4? Even BETTER. I hope you listen to part 4 soon and I also recommend Outro: Tear. At first the song seems like it's about a breakup between lovers, but BTS came out to say it was really about their feelings about BTS possibly breaking up, and it made that song so much sadder. I hope you listen to them soon!

I think the RUclipsrs who get the most from being a reactor are people in the music or video sector, such as musicians, vocalists, dancers, rappers and video editors and producers ... because they not only get fun but also get learning from what they see. such as movement, vocal technique, flow, and editing.

Supreme Boi is a producer and rapper under Big Hit (now HYBE) with BTS. He was actually supposed to debut in the original BTS group when they were supposed to debut as a Hip-hop group but chose not to when they were decided to debut as Kpop idols instead. He works a lot with the boys especially the rapine (RM, Suga, J-Hope)!

Sewer vs savory is a KR wordplay, if you see the romanization: neon hasugu --> play the beat backwards --> nan gusuha(ji) where the first one means "you sewer" and the second one is "I savory" (tasty?) ;)
im loving your BTS discovery series, I just cant wait until you finally get into the whole BTS. As for now you've mostly seen the rap line but man, once you get into the whole thing...The combination of rap, with vocals and dance. Plus great performances and incredible talent. You'll be mind blown. Their live performances are incredible! You'll need to watch the MMA 2019 full performance, promise you wont regret it.

I’ve watched a few of your reviews just today and I have to say that I really appreciate the way you dissect lyrics and the music!
All the cyphers are basically directed at their haters. I’m sure you’ve seen previous comments go into more detail about this but it was their way of being able to address all the prejudice and discrimination they so often received coming up. I’m sure you’ve noticed that even to this day, this still happens but they wanted to have their say and prove themselves as rappers/songwriters and boy, they did just that!

Hi Knox. I hope you see this as I’ve been in the wings for a while and just wanted to comment my appreciation. You are truly amazing at breakdowns - so intelligent and well-articulated. I learn so much. I am also very thankful that you continue to be open-minded with your reaction choices. I appreciate there is a real misconception about bts but I’m hoping your breakdowns will help change that a little, as they are so talented, especially as rappers. Excited to continue on this journey with you.
I also highly recommend the doolset bangtan lyric site to refer to in your reactions. You will appreciate their craft so much more when you can see the wordplays etc used that aren’t translated 😊
One thing cool about the rap line is that the play a lot with their voices so you know they are not doing playback when they sing it live. That’s what really makes them different from the other idols who rap. Like you said, these are real MC.

Original Korean lyrics use 언니 (unnie), which is used by females to call/address an older female. It is, however, common that night club barkers (even if they are males) call female customers unnies. The use of unnie thus makes sense here. 삐삐 (bbibbi) is a pager/beeper, so it could be (1) “all the girls, call me, page me.” Or, since bbi- is commonly used as an onomatopoeia of censoring sounds, it could also be (2) “all the girls call me ‘XX’,” where XX is some unknown word
