    I would humbly recommend that you don't worry about your viewers 'budget' concerns when doing bottles in this price range or higher. It's understandable, but from an old sales persons experiences, let the customers determine the value after you give the details. I am a big JD fan - I love it neat, even old number 7. No ice, no water. Just straight, slow, and wonderful. I will be buying this in the future for the experience, and not the value per say.

      Solid advice. My cheaper whiskey reviews always do great numbers and the expensive ones dont... so I assume people aren't interested in expensive whiskies but I'll keep that advice in mind

    Great review. I'm a Sinatra enthusiast and it was all the noise about him and Jack Daniel's which turned me into a JD enthusiast.
    Did I buy my liter of Sinatra Select? Nope. For that kind of money I could've bought a lot of single barrel and a box set of Sinatra CDs. You have to set your priorities, right?
    Ah, but two friends of mine were in a duty free shop, saw a box of Select, and thought of me. Those are two great friends.
    I'm happy about one thing which came out in your review: that this is still Jack Daniel's and not a goofy product with a messed-up taste that is miles away from what you expect JD to taste like.
    So, thanks for the lucid and fair review.
    Note: once, after Sinatra had his JD stolen - or moved - while he was onstage, he decided it was time to assign someone to guard it. Having someone guarding your Jack Daniel's? That's class.

    Long time Single Barrel drinker here but just got a bottle of the Sinatra Select recently (GIFT). The Sinatra is definitely smoother and I'd rate it about 30% better than the Single Barrel but at 350% more cost I'd agree it's very expensive to justify. The bad part is after drinking half the bottle, it's hard to go back to the regular Single Barrel.

    I paid around $200 for my bottle, I bought it at the airport in Amsterdam though. I almost got it taken away from me when I hit customs stateside. The machine that they run the bottle through wouldn't pass it. Lucky for me after about 45 minutes I was able to continue with my Jack. That's been about a year now..... I guess now would be a good time to crack it open....

    I've been a fan of JD for many years. I drink a wide variety of bourbons, scotches and Irish whiskeys but still like a JD from time to time. Just picked up a bottle of this mostly just to have a bottle in my collection. Nice review. Miss Jack being 86 proof. I think it tasted better back then.

    I really love the taste of the Single Barrel! Of course in the nearly future I will buy a bottle of the Sinatra Select. I 'm sure that I' ll love it even much more! By the way - that 's a nice video and your explanation was very informative and helpful for me. Thanks for this and greetings from Germany 🤘🏻 Cheers 🥃

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  8 лет назад +1

      +SDF5150 color and taste won't be significantly different, but I personally noticed a good difference in taste. Did you do ice or water or did you just have them neat?

  • @joeboo1983

    The Single Barrel was lovely, in the Uk they make 100 proof version which in my opinion too much Back throat burn and lost its smoothness. Not as good as regular SB whiskey. No way in hell am I gonna pay 150 bucks for a slightly better Single Barrel with fancy bottle and Sinatra booklet, lol.

    Thanks!!!

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary

      +Corey Martin I think that's a great call. The Single Barrel is worth having, especially if you're looking to go further with Jack Daniels.

  • @joeboo1983
    @joeboo1983 6 лет назад +2

    Even if this is the best Jack Daniel’s it’s vastly overpriced. Single Barrel barrel proof is nice but bit too much more fire. It’s smooth but looses some smoothness. The regular single barrel is a fantastic whiskey and the best.

    Thanks for the review, I really enjoyed watching this and your pricing perspective on JD SB over JD SS. Since Fathers Day is just around the corner, and some store is offering special pricing with coupon on JD SS for under $90 + tax. Would you recommend at this discounted price?

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  8 лет назад +1

      +Tony Leu It depends, do you like Single Barrel? If you haven't tried it I would suggest the Single Barrel over the Sinatra especially for that price. 90 bucks is a great price for that but if it's not going to be something you like you'd be better off trying the single barrel for your dad, and a Woodford reserve for yourself ;)

    • @tonyleu
      @tonyleu 8 лет назад

      +The Whiskey Dic Thank you for your quick responses, I have not tried JD SB yet, just have good old JD #7, but it's on my wish lists and I have just recently purchased a Woodford Reserved with Glencairn glass kit for under $25, which will be next after current bottle of opened Scotch whisky. Since this will be a Fathers Day gift, JD SB or JD SB Proof, price difference of these 2 about $10?

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  8 лет назад +1

      +Tony Leu Sounds about right. In my opinion? Go for the SB proof. It's something special. It'll be a bit stronger than the regular SB but you can always add a slight bit of water to cut the alcohol.
      The Sinatra select is great, don't get me wrong... but at nearly twice the price, I think you should skip it this time around.
      Let me know what you think of the woodford!

    • @tonyleu

  • @ashjackson7

    I bought a bottle of Sinatra Select, and I was rather surprised to find it tasted almost identical to a normal Single Barrel Jack. What a disappointment that was. Jack Gold is 10 times smoother, and far tastier, but I'd take a bottle of Gentleman Jack every day of the week over that, and given it's on 1/6 the price, it's a no brainer in my opinion.

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  7 лет назад

      +Ash Jackson I agree completely. The subtle difference in taste wasn't worth it.

  • @r1master
    @r1master 7 лет назад

    Question: If I buy a bottle of this and keep it for 10 years for prosperity, will it be any good?
    I'm pretty sure it does not get any better, just wondering if it gets worse...
    I collected all the Jack I can find (13 so far) but have not opened them... Am I wasting them?
    Thank you good Sir.

    So i was wanting to give my
    Coordinator one of these bottles he drinks Gentlemans Jack with Coke will this still be possible to have the same taste flavors with Coke? Or would he need to drink it straight and would
    It be worth the money how much better is the quality from Gentlemans Jack from 1-10?

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  5 лет назад

      It's much better quality... but my suggestion would be to go with the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. It's about 50 bucks and far better than Gentleman Jack.
      If there are other reasons youd like to give your coordinator this bottle then I'm sure they will enjoy it a lot.

    Thanksgiving night tonight and my brother pulled this out after dinner. I laughed but proceeded to taste with an open mind. More refined than regular JD to be sure but so what. Terrible mid palate and a horrible short and astringent finish --clearly over oaked. Unimpressed. When asked how much I'd pay for a liter I said $40. When he told me it was north of $180 I couldn't stop laughing. Fortunately he didn't buy it as it was s gift. Insanely overpriced, terribly under-crafted. Mix with Coke.
