Was my first and will always keep a bottle on the bar because of it. I'm not a huge fan of WT101 but I keep it because it's what my grandfather drank. Love Sinatra select. It was my first $100+ whiskey purchased. Also, drank it on my wedding day.
A buddy of mine got a Sinatra Jack for his birthday last year and we finished off a while back, best Jack I've drank so far but I'd still take Old Forester. I see that Geroge Remus back there and I really enjoy it, I also just got a Series 5 of the Repeal Reserve but haven't opened it yet just found it out in Eestern TN.
I'm late to this video, but I just bought a bottle of Sinatra Select, so I was curious to see what the RUclipsrs have to say about it. I got lucky and found one for US$100. I didn't pay attention to the size of the bottle in the store, but after I got it home, I noticed that it is a 1-liter bottle, so you get more booze for your money. I've always liked the flavor profile of Old No. 7, but as a neat pour, it is rather simple and watered down. It is a fantastic mixer. I like it as a sour made with Meyer lemons; the flavor of Old No. 7 is a perfect match for these lemons. Sinatra Select provides that characteristic Jack Daniel's flavor in a form that works as a neat pour. It is richer and provides more complexity, with some very nice woody notes. I bought it because I had been curious about it for some time, and it was on sale for a good price, but because of the associated gimmickry, my expectations were modest at best. It significantly exceeded my expectations, and I'm glad I have a bottle. At this price, I'm tempted to see if there are any more available and to buy one or two to keep in reserve. Although I think it will work better as a neat pour, I'll have to try it how Frank Sinatra liked it, and listen to him while I'm drinking it. Old No. 7 is probably more suitable, but I think it is necessary to try it once with Sinatra Select.
Drank some Jack and Coke in my younger days but have turned my nose up at Jack since I really got into good whisk(e)y. About a year ago I got the SBBP rye and had my head turned. I’ve since picked up some Tennessee tasters and barrel picks and have been pleasantly surprised. I still have no interest in old number 7 but their lineup is worth exploring!
Just went to the store today and was shocked to look in the case and found they had 3 Sinatra selects. I remembered this video and jumped all over it at just a hair under msrp. Thank you and Jaime so much for the excellent, informative content. Really appreciate the work y'all do. Cheers!
I'm not a JD #7 fan at all, but a friend of mine who is got me a bottle of the JD SBBP rye, which is very good. Haven't tried the JD SBBP yet, but will have on to try in the very near future. Great video!
Being Australian, I always have a giggle when there’s a Tennessee Whiskey vs Bourbon debate, people get so passionate about JD not being considered a bourbon, but you hit the nail on the head with your description between the two… 👏🏼
Well, it is actually a LAW in Tennessee, Clinton, and the effort and expense that goes into making the process surely is happening for a reason. IF you saw it at the Jack distillery--the burning of the sugar maple to make charcoal, the filtration through it--and you get on the tour to stand OVER those vats and have a whiff!--well....it is hardly negligible. BTW, know what they use to LIGHT the wood? Yep. Newmade Jack spirits--great lighter fluid!
JD SB BP is my favorite, all time favorite bottle, thank you for this video. I try and find different proofs and buy 2 at the same proof in case it stands out. I started with Ol #7 in my younger days because it was so poular, that ended the day I bought my first bottle of WT 101, drank that for years. I liked filling my flask with Gentleman Jack when I went trout fishing, not too strong and very mellow.....................then I bought my first bottle of JD SB BP and it's still my favorite and I currently have a dozenish different proofs. No one proof has stood out from the others, but all have subtle differences. I've never had the Sinatra, but think I'd be hard pressed to pay that much for 1 bottle vs 2 bottles of the barrel proof with a $20 Padron cigar to boot............but good luck hiding it from your Mrs. Anywho, great vid and absolutely dig the content. Wild Turkey next? lol Cheers!
I hear you about the Sinatra vs 2 SBBP... like I said if you have the money and love really sweet whiskey might be worth it. I do like the idea as a series to hit all the distillers with a big footprint
@@WhiskeyRow No one could do it better than you. Wild Turkey, Jim Beam (Knob Creek), Old Forester, Heaven Hill (EC)...............ya know, all MY favorites, lol. Maybe even a run at Scotch and other American whiskies.
Cool story. I just bought my first JD SB BP. Bought the last 2 on the shelf (I like to have doubles of things I like and heard good things about this bottle). I hope to build a collection one day like you.
FINALLY was able to buy a bottle of the JD SBBP. I really thought it would be just a fire bomb at 132 proof, but it is not. It is rich and so very bodied for sure. Really good stuff.
Just bought it! Seems like our pallets are the same. Everything that you’ve recommended I’ve dig it! Thanks man 👌🏼, btw, I’ll have to buy some merch 🤘🏼
Hey sir, my local store has a few Sinatra Select. I’ve never had it before however I am a huge fan of both Frank and Jack. Is this bottle worth blowing almost my entire Christmas bourbon budget on? Or am I better off just getting the barrel proof Single Barrel and a knob creek 12 for cheaper?
Thanks for the good review. IMHO JD No. 7 is the perfect mixer with Coca-Cola. Also, Jack Daniels Rye and Single Barrel Rye are my favorite ryes. I’m still hunting for JDSBBP Rye.
SBBP is not what I'd call readily accessible and easy to find. Maybe when this was filmed it was more available, but in my area in 2022 it's extremely hard to find.
Good video, I've been eyeballing the jd single barrel. Found the Sinatra at probably 5-6 stores this past weekend, but too rich for my blood for a jd product.. keep the videos coming!
JD old #7 was one of my first whiskeys back in college. Had huge argument with my Dad when I called it Bourbon (I was right but wasn't going to win that one). The Single Barrel Select is completely different story. It's a good bourbon and well worth the price. Never found a Sinatra, would like to try it but I have a hard time paying that much for 90 proof.
Sinatra Select was good whiskey, but they sure ask a lot for its ~$140 price tag and 90 proof. I don't know if I would ever buy another bottle again, but glad I have one. I thought it was crazy that there are whiskey drinkers out there that haven't tried the barrel proof offering because it's JD. Great stuff. Have you gotten ahold of EHT Warehouse C yet?
JD is fine it ain’t deep but is my second choice for price point., I’m a bourbon guy Ezra Brooks or Evan Willians every day use. But the bottle in bond JD is killer.
As one that loves a jack and coke i always shied away from drinking it like a good bourbon. Your earlier video about the SB BP made me grab one and oh my is it good. I do want to pick up a Sinatra just because i like Sinatra. Now i need to grab two of them after your tasting notes.
It almost seems impossible that JD7 and JDSBBP come from the same distiller. Night and day. JDSBBP is in my top 10 bourbons and JD7 is in bottom 10....go figure. Great review. Liked and subscribed. Cheers.
In Frank's day, regular Old No. 7 was bottled at 90 proof as the Sinatra Select is, and that's why he put the ice in it. He drank it on stage. And of course the Sinatra ALSO comes in an eve more pricey and rare 100 proof version. Also worth mentioning the 1910 AND Jack all come from the Brown/Foreman folks and since they have their own cooperage the barrel influence, grooved or not, is a shared heritage, too. Here's what those grooved barrels look like inside, btw. www.distillerytrail.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Jack-Daniel-Frank-Sinatra-Wood.jpg
Great point on the old proof of JD. You don't get to be Frank, live like Frank, unless you're smart and talented like Frank. He drank, he smoked, he despised drugs of any other nature, and he loved women. If you don't get the 3-2-1 principle, you don't understand longevity in your craft of singing or on the couch with ladies.
@@kevinbales3731 Yep. BTW< the whole origin of the Jack Daniels Country Club came when reporters, who knew Frank and the Rat Pack played a lot of golf in Vegas, asked him what clubs he was a member of and Frank, disdaining the snobbery of those famous golf clubs (which, btw, often had prohibitions against membership by showbiz folks and such as "riff-raff" beneath their WASP-y prejudice, let alone Italian or Jewish people like Frank, Dean, Sammy, Joey, etc. etc.) said "Yeah, the Jack Daniels Country Club" as a joke. THEN he had the blazer patches made to continue the party....and the rest is history. AND when the Sinatra first came out the very first folks to "apply for membership" in the club actually GOT the blazer patches sent to them!
@@WhiskeyRow BTW, coming out very soon (I'm told September or October) is a NEW and first-ever-age-statement Jack 10 Year variation. Looking forward to that.

Jack has changed since my early days of drinking (45+ years ago). Its not even close to what it used to be. It would take your breath away, literally! I believe it was the charcoal charred barrels. Now its so mass produced.....I won't touch it!
Regular Jack was 90 proof back in the day! They towned it down over the years. Plus they used the best barrels for their standard whiskey back in the day. All brands did. Now they keep their best barrels for their more expensive whiskeys only.
