I have all the Elijah Craig’s - except the 18 year. The most underrated might be the regular 94 proof store pick’s. Same price as small batch but a step better- don’t pass those up! And I say a Hell Yes to drinking Elijah Craig- great video!!!!
I LOVE EC 18. Like LOVE! I often times will get brown sugar which is different and I love it. I use Toasted Barrel or Small Batch (Maine has awful availability for bourbon) for my old fashioned. Big EC fan!
I’m a huge EC guy and my favorite is still the 12 year age stated bottle. Glad I stocked up on a few. If you have the $$$$ the prefire 18 and 23 are amazing. Hoping I’ll be able to pick up the 20,21,22 sometime in the future.
Elijah Craig Small Batch was the first bourbon I actually loved. It’s still one of my faves, but I tend to sway to the Beam side of things. Heaven Hill products seem to have a stringent ethanol forward flavor that is present in my first few tastes. Once you get acclimated, I like Heaven Hill a lot. The Barrel Proofs are wonderful over ice…which is the only way I drink high proof bourbon anyways.
I really enjoy all Elijah Craig - Small Batch /Toasted Barrel / Barrel Proof. It is more difficult to get Barrel Proof or Toasted Barrel than Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare. I agree with you that everyone's taste is different. This is a definite buy for me.
I would also say the Elijah Craig has a some nutmeg notes to it as well, balancing out the sweet caramel and vanilla flavors. Making it a bourbon that’s sweet but not too sweet.
I was lucky to find the Toasted Barrel. What a great Bottle! Drank half in a hurry, now I just take sip here and there. Panic hits when the bottle is half empty :)
Good video. I bought a bottle of the B521 today. The only other Elijah Craig I have bought to date is that Barrel Toasted 94 proof. I actually prefer the EC barrel toasted over the 1910. I think the 1910 has a bit too much char for me. I opened the B521 a few minutes ago ( promted by this video) and It is pretty good I would say but I paid 70 for it and honestly would rather have a 1920 at 60 ish. Good sipper though and it's nice to have variety. This is certainly one I'll keep in stock.
I randomly found a private pick Elijah Craig 94 proof. It's really good. I've only ever found that one though. It's a great every day sipper. Wish I had more. I had a chance to buy an Elijah Craig 18. I had it in my hands, but put it back on the shelf and passed. It was $150 and I had seen too many disappointed reviews that I backed away. If it doesn't taste good I don't really care how old it is and that proof being what is it just didn't add up for me.
This series format is awesome! I just picked up a 1792 B.I.B. and would enjoy hearing more about the different one out there if you're looking for more content for this series. Keep these type of vids up, they're so damned informative and well done. Cheers!
I’m with you, David. Elijah Craig is definitely not one of my favorite taste profiles. I like to keep the Toasted around but other than that I usually pass.
Very nice review, David! I am actually a big fan of the small batch, which is the only EC one available in Sweden. Just got a toasted barrel from a friend in Germany so I will open it very soon. Cheers from Sweden! 🇸🇪
Some 10-15 yrs ago, long before it was fashionable to have Cask strength/Barrel proof/ ... Craig had the 69%-73% alcohol (140+proof) and cause a HUGE wow / uproar - and a lasting legacy for those who drank it then . . .
I have all of these except the rye on my bar right now (and about 8 different expressions of ECBP). I like the small batch - I'll agree it's a solid entry sipper. I really like (but maybe don't LOVE) most ECBP - C919, B520, and C920 were my favorites. The Toasted Barrel is good, but if you pay $100 for it, you may have brain damage. It's good at $50. I still prefer 1910 and Woodford Double over the ECTB. I LOVE the 18 year. It may be too oaky for some, but I dig the oak. Also agree I wish it were 100 proof.
I wanted to love that Toasted Barrel but I just couldn't, even the last bottle pour was too tannic. So far haven't found an ECBP I didn't like. That's the fun in trying different expressions right? "Finding bottles you love." Great video!
First bourbon I ever REALLY loved was the first ECBP I purchased - a B520. Truly changed my bourbon path. Have to say that EC is probably the BEST values across their line especially the BPs although the Old Forester lineup is right there too . They do have to open up a little to truly get them to their best. Understand that they may not be your favorite profile, but your endorsement of their products anyway is the fair and honest evaluation that garners respect for your reviews 👏
Interesting, I really like the Barrel Proofs but I also notice there are nights when I wonder what happened to both the smell and taste. Thought it was just me
Bro is crazy Elijah Craig is great great stuff veering into incredible with their barrel proofs. Only their toasted barrel in my opinion is just solid but that’s mainly cause of the price.
NOT A HUGE FAN!? FIGHT ME!!!! hahahaha..ok i kid i kid. but...for me....ECBP is hands down one of my top 3 pours year after year since 2017...primarily in that its that sweet spot of: 12 year + high proof + (sometimes) findable + not overpriced. Plus ive always dug the slightly sweetness to EC mashbills
Rare Breed is my Sybil, even changes regularly in the glass from sip to sip.
The better question is "why shouldn't I drink Elijah Craig?"

Batches A, B, & C. Released in Jan (1), May (5), Sept (9), respectively. Of course, the year, which you nailed.
ECBP is consistently one of my favorite bottles. The rye and 18 yr were let downs for me
Spot on.
My favorite yet was b517
I love the EC Toasted Barrel. Probably my favorite out of their lineup.
ive never ween one in the wild at any price, lol
I assume its smaller production then the BP's?
@@a.w.3480 Yea, I think they only had one release this year. And it was the first time they have released it.
I get EC Sm Batch $55 for a 1.75L, haven't tried the Toasted $55 for 750ml. But OF 1910 is $60 😢but I do love it. Have yet to try a barrel proof EC.
I love EC...especially ECBP...goes Great with BBQ

ECBP C919 is one of the best pours I've had, and I've loved every one of the ECBP releases.
I was lucky to find the Toasted Barrel. What a great Bottle! Drank half in a hurry, now I just take sip here and there. Panic hits when the bottle is half empty :)
Elijah Craig also does a 23 year, which is pretty damn good. I believe it’s currently discontinued but wouldn’t be surprised if they bring it back.

C919 and C920 were freaking amazing! Easily sipped like a $100+ bottle.
agreed! those september batches are usually sooo much better than the may and jan releases imo
Agree 100% those were standouts batches of the past couple years.
The only EC I didn't really care for was the 18 year. I wish it was about 100 proof instead of 90. I love all of the others.
I really enjoy EC
Small Batch is 19.99 where I am. That is a steal.
I need you to upload the next video for your favorite bourbon tournament. Love that series!

Check out curiosity public, they literally just released a 45 minute drink through video of 1792
B520 is my favorite bottle to date. It hasn’t lost a blind yet!
I’m with you, David. Elijah Craig is definitely not one of my favorite taste profiles. I like to keep the Toasted around but other than that I usually pass.
The 18yr I had at a bar smelled and tasted like bandaids. The other offerings I find outstanding at their price point.
Very nice review, David! I am actually a big fan of the small batch, which is the only EC one available in Sweden. Just got a toasted barrel from a friend in Germany so I will open it very soon. Cheers from Sweden! 🇸🇪
We got the B521 in my mediocre market (OKC) about 6-8 weeks after the release month...5/May...so I guess I'll perk up for B921 in October.

Love my Elijah Craig

I agree Toasted Barrel was kind of disappointing. It’s okay but OF1910 is better
C918 was outstanding!
I will try the small batch to introduce me to bourbon 🔥 Nice vidéo
What is crazy is the rye not gettin more love. EC rye is the best whiskey for the money. Straight, ice cube or mix.

Never have tried Elijah Craig thanks for video 👍🏻🥃
Interesting, I really like the Barrel Proofs but I also notice there are nights when I wonder what happened to both the smell and taste. Thought it was just me
Great video, thanks for the education.
Bro is crazy Elijah Craig is great great stuff veering into incredible with their barrel proofs. Only their toasted barrel in my opinion is just solid but that’s mainly cause of the price.
I agree, bro is crazy. Elijah Craig is awesome!
NOT A HUGE FAN!? FIGHT ME!!!!

also: Another GREAT video dude....you continue to kill it. thanks.
I found 1 ECBP last year here in Vegas. Im scared to drink it because I cant find another bottle here.
Cool review
Small batch was the first bourbon I tried. One bottle has turned out to be an entire bar of bourbon.
Yes. Yes you should.
B520 FTW
EC 94! Another bourbon better than Blantons.
Wooo
Don't drink it. I'll take on the burden of drinking it for you.
500th like
nope... Im hitting stop now.
No you shouldn't drink it. Definitely not! Stay away. It's swill.😉
