I can’t express the genuine connection I feel watching you guys and learning about different bourbons. I’m happy to gain knowledge every episode, but I truly feel like I could sit down and sip with you guys. Thanks for putting yourselves out there and for the genuine content. Can’t wait for the future 🥃
You guys are getting the mash bill mixed up on the Larceny. It's 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. If it were 68% wheat, they wouldn't be able to call it bourbon.
Great review, although I think a little brand bias crept into this one. Having said that, would love to see a blind at the end of the year with all 6 offerings.
11:35 TRENT ALMOST LOST IT 🤣🤣🤣 Gah he really pulled it back and had some great self control there. Gotta give him credit for that one. Thanks for keeping it PG for us guys! All jokes aside, I absolutely love watching your show guys. The fact that you guys do these shows with no cuts is amazing. You all have great synergy with eachother. Best of luck with the channel
The Larceny is absolutely their best effort yet. I can't get enough of it. Grabbed another backup today. It doesn't drink at all like it's 124.2 proof, it's got fruit, it's got sweet, it's got baking spices, it's got funk, it's got finish, it's got it all for my palate.
From your comments at 8:45 about ECBP A123 being a lower proof release; It was actually the highest proof since C920 or highest of last 7 releases & higher than the next, B523.
I,m a bourbon fan. And new at apreciating bourbon. But I,m learning. Thanks to you guys. I love your channel. And I didnt win anything. And. Dont want anything. Thanks for the content.
Got 'em both and to me it isn't a "one or the other". Sometimes I feel like one and sometimes the other. No rights or wrongs here. Both are great. Both of you are too. Thanks for your great vids
I've yet to try any Barrel Proof High ABV Bourbons aged over 8-12 yrs but will start seeking them out as i like my Booze to be Smooth from sitting in the oak
I was lucky enough to get both of these. They are both really impressive. I like the nose on the EC better, but the palate of the Larceny. I absolutely get the drying effect with the EC. The EC is much hotter for me. A lot more pepper. The Larceny is just sweet and rich. I was surprised to like the Larceny better, since in their regular small batch releases, I love Elijah Craig but don't care for Larceny at all.
Just bought Larceny A123. I am a wheat fan and this delivers. I also love ECBP and will admit that EC C923 is better than this Larceny. I’ve been waiting for someone to compare the current releases head to head. Glad it was you guys that did it first. Can’t wait to get ECBP A123. The allocation in my area is coming up soon. Thanks guys!
For some reason, the big box stores here in Central California are selling Elijah Craig for $80. Local liquor stores are charging as much as $100. The Larceny also appears to be $10-$20 more than MSRP. I would love to see you guys look at some small Distilleries, such as New Riff. Unfortunately, impossible to get in California, however, the bottle that was gifted to me from 0:08 Kentucky was absolutely out of this world. I enjoy the banter that goes back-and-forth between you two. Reminds me of my son and myself. I was a wine and beer snob, now I am enjoying bourbon. You to have opened up my experience.
I honestly used to be in favor with ECBP all the time but the last two batches from Larceny have outdone EC IMO. But love to see what everyone thinks. #congratsonthesilverbutton
As a consumer investigative photojournalist I really appreciate your acknowledgment and caution of these online scammers. I’ve interviewed countless innocent victims falling for these “bots” or “calls” and some loose thousands. No one is safe! Thank you for the help in the fight.
We rode the bourbon dinner train in Bardstown KY last year. I fell in love with Larceny that day. We had Elijah Craig too and it was good they served Four Rose's too. My favorite was the Larceny. For the price it's very good.
Great timing for this comparison. I picked up the Elijah Craig BP A123 3-4 weeks ago, and the Larceny BP A123 just dropped in Illinois last week. So I have both now, and am looking forward to this!
I love that I finally was able to obtain an allocated bottle you guys have on your show! I picked up the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof last week, right here in my town, and at MSRP! I havent opened it yet, but i'll get around to it im sure. I'm still working on my WJ Decadence.
EC A123 seems so different to me than C922. Almost like it’s a different distillery. The C922 is so close to the single barrel EC BP I have as far as flavors. Heavy caramel and vanilla. The A123 is extremely oak and cherry forward. I kind of appreciate how different it is though. Looking forward to both versions of B523 this month!
I can find ECBP no problem. Larceny Barrel Proof on the other hand….haven’t found one yet. And I’ve yet to see anyone mention this but I have only bought the A123 so I don’t know if all are like this, but I get a bitter dark chocolate like note at first and then it opens up to pecan pie. I love it.
If anyone is wondering, the verification badge is the "check mark" next to their name and channel picture in the circle. If you're on computer, you can hover your mouse over the check mark and it will say "verified"
picked up both those bottles a few weeks ago and both are great... BUT, that same week I found a store pick of EC thats barrel proof coming in at 135.7 10 years old and it's probably the best bottle I own. It's A123 on steroids in the best way.
I would like you to continue this format to compare these release throughout the year. Also, it would be interesting at the end of the year to do a final review and blind tasting of all 6 to rank them. I love both of them and try to grab each release when i can. Kudos on your research of the mash bills. Youre forgiven for the goof on the first one. Keep up the good work fellas.
Was at a winery yesterday and decided to have my first Elijah Craig ( it probably wasn't this AAA stuff) Ordered a double (neat) Barkeep asked if I wanted ice, but I wanted to take a sip first..... And when I tasted it I said to her "OMG no thanks, this was really great" Great sipper.... This is a Great Review....
I have the Larceny C922. It’s good, but even with all the praise it got last year, I’d still go with ECBP 9/10 times. I don’t think it has the depth of flavor you get with 12 years. I’m usually finding these with a little hunting when they’re released in WI, but ECBP is creeping up in price to @ $90 with tax.
We have the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof and it is so hot at the end! We love Larceny but we live in Omaha Ne and we don’t have that Barrel Proof.😢We love your channel and are huge fans! A bourbon a day…ah what the heck!
Nice battle! I have the Larceny 522 & 922 and the Elijah Craig 122, 522, and 922 waiting for this years! I really enjoy all of these. My Larceny has a nice sweetness, light peanut, baking spices, and a really good finish. My ECBP’s I get crackerjack peanut, vanilla cream, cinnamon, caramel, with a great finish. Two of my favorite lines. Cheers
I had my own version of this taste-off today except it was ECBP B522 and LBP B522 (just worked out that way). Both brands have their distinctive flavors and they are both delicious IMO. But I personally like the ECBPs better. The LBPs are friggen delicious but the ECBPs have all the flavor of the Larcey wheaters but also have wry spice that kicks them up to the next level - complexity wise. So good, especially at that price point. Great review guys!
Larceny C922 was definitely better than Elijah Craig’s in my opinion. But for me, the Elijah Craig A123 I just cracked is great. I’ll have to pick up the same Larceny equivalent to give them a side by side.
I’m personally going with the ECBP. Especially if you can find a store pick. Typically they are a 10yr I believe. But still a very viscous and complex palette, which is what I prefer.
I picked up that Elijah Craig for the first time ever. I thought it was superb. Drinking it right how, I can see the cedary comment, I was just calling it oak but there is a more high toned character to it. Definitely has some caramel. Not sure on the blackberry, honestly my background in describing flavors and smells is with wine. I realize that it is often a language that you need to learn by tasting a lot of things and listening to others. I get a slight citrus character, a bunch of brown spices. Definitely get the cherry. Love the viscosity, very intensely focused too. It's like it is tightly woven. Definitely has a bit of a bite on the finish. Second night sipping and pretty similar impressions both time. New favorite.
Have not found either of these yet, but plan to visit my favorite bourbon bar to do a comparison. I have had the Larceny barrel proof in the past and it was outstanding.
hey guys I saw 3 bottles of the Elijah Craig Barrel proof at my local Bevmo and I just had to pick them up. They are hard to get around my neighborhood, and I'm sitting at my computer enjoying a sip right now.
great channel ... just starting on my appreciation of bourbon and thanks for bringing up the spam messages ... i didn't experience it on you channel but on a couple others
I picked up the ECBP this past Friday here in Virginia. It is my first one, I have not seen the Larceny yet. So far I really like it, a bit hot for me at first but so good. I hope to get the Larceny and other EC when they come out. Great video as always!
I agree with other comments, Kurt transposed the wheat and corn percentages. I found a B522 Larcency last Nov. (missed their last C922 by 20 min.- bummer). Still I'm loving the B522, am now hunting for an A123, hard to find in rural Wisconsin.
The tannic notes you mentioned add a bit of harshness to the ECBP A123. I had it side by side with a barrel proof store pick with an 8 year age statement, and the extra oakiness added a harshness to me as compared with the store pick. I'm wondering if it will become a bit more tame once the bottle has been opened a month or so.
Great review as always! I just picked-up the EC C922 124.8 proof and the Larceny B522 123.8 proof and love them both! Yet, If I must choose, I put the EC in 1st place for my taste. And I love a good Wheater! In my case it's not a truly fair comparison, as the EC C922 is said to be the sweetest of the 3 EC 2022 releases. Release aside, the two are head and shoulders above their normal everyday release options. I have to agree with Trenton's point about the viscosity - the EC blowing the Larceny out of the water. I'll look for your review of the C922 releases!
I got the EC A123 and find it superior to the C922 in smoothness and overall start-to-finish enjoyment. Still looking for Larceny A123 but got a hold of the A122 and found this A release even better than the C release; and the C totally blew the B out of the water (2022)! So based on your reviews, the last two A releases have been winners. And though I see where Trenton is coming from comparing the two (EC BP vs L BP), my taste more closely aligns with Kurt. Thank you again for these detailed and honest reviews!
Great review guys. To clear it up though Kurt mixed up the corn and wheat on the Larceny mash bill. Its 68% corn 20% wheat. If it was 68% wheat it would be a wheat whiskey and not a bourbon. Kurt might need to upgrade those cheaters! lol Im right there with you!
Good video, I like the comparaison. Just got our hands on ECBP A123 can't wait to give it a try. I was able to get at MSRP. Seem some pushing 100 bucks. To much.
Another excellent video. Maybe do a video with an A/B/C comparison of various ECBP bottles. I will also agree with another comment that you should blend these and give us the notes from that sample.
A local store dropped a couple cases of A123. I actually quickly detoured on my commute home to grab one. I shook my head and walked away when they were asking $90. The worker tried to tell me SRP is $90. I told him he was lied to by management. I get so sick of this crap. I wanted one but I won't be taken advantage of.
Just picked up the Larceny barrel proof! Happened across it and decided to go with it because of you all. Keep up the great work! Let's see if I get the butterscotch notes :)
I have the Larceny and find it to be a solid pick. The problem with the ECBP’s is that you can find yourself with serval bottles that are very similar, if you get each release. Luckily the reviews come out before we get them in New Orleans, so we can make a semi-informed decision. Based on y’all’s review and others, I’ll probably pass on the EC A123 when I see it. Thx for the info gents!
We have both of these bottles and tried them along with you tonight. Definitely preferred the ECBP over the LBP. It was fun to compare our notes to yours. Cheers 🥃
I LOVE Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. I think it’s my favorite bourbon. I really like regular Larceny, I’m dying to get a hold of the Barrel Proof version. I have always had a very similar taste experience with all Heaven Hill bourbons I’ve tried: Super, super sweet on the nose, much less sweet on the palate, zero sweetness/very dry on the finish. Anyone else get that from Heaven Hill?
I'm so glad I came across this tonight. Just got home from the Liquor store and was presented with the same question as mentioned in the clip. Which one do you pick. Elijah or Larceny. I couldn't choose. Felt lucky to have the problem to begin with. I bought them both. Going to try them tomorrow night with my Son.
I have a bottle of the EC C922 as well as a last years Larceny FP. I too would lean toward the EC which is funny as my pallet has developed I was a huge Larceny fan. It was one I sort of broke into the bourbon world on. I’ve also had some of a EC BP before this one that was 130+ and feel it drank smoother than the C922. I do get a little if the oak tanin, but I like it. Another great video. Btw.. toast Col Blanton today!! It’s his birthday! 🎂

Jeopardy definitely Jeopardy
Just watched it over again and that was my question ⁉️
Glad I wasn’t the only one scratching my head on that one 😂
Maybe they imbibed more than we know prior to starting the camera.
Great review, although I think a little brand bias crept into this one. Having said that, would love to see a blind at the end of the year with all 6 offerings.
I was laughing at Trenton barely holding it together when Kurt was about to say “black pepper” and almost said a different word. Classic.
Got both of these last week. 3 bottles of the Larceny and one Elijah. I think the sweetness of the Larceny makes it the winner for me.
11:35 TRENT ALMOST LOST IT 🤣🤣🤣 Gah he really pulled it back and had some great self control there. Gotta give him credit for that one. Thanks for keeping it PG for us guys! I paid $120 for my ECBP C922 and it's half gone! What a great bottle. I'd pay that again. Really enjoy your channel guys!
whats the difference between the numbers? i found both at a local store? C922 and A123 thank you
@@MetroCollectablesandvlogsA123 = first release of the year (A), in January (1), in the year 2023. So a C922 = last release of 2022 in September
From your comments at 8:45 about ECBP A123 being a lower proof release; It was actually the highest proof since C920 or highest of last 7 releases & higher than the next, B523.
I have the A123 bottle but haven't cracked it yet. It did so well in Fred's top 100...excited to give it a taste!

Both are $60 by me. Just picked up the EC this afternoon
Thanks for another great and fun video
Got 'em both and to me it isn't a "one or the other". Sometimes I feel like one and sometimes the other. No rights or wrongs here. Both are great. Both of you are too. Thanks for your great vids
I just finished my bottle of EC Barrel Proof 922 last night. It was delicious.
That batch is by far my fav bottle from 2022. I’m definitely making it last as long as I can lol
11:37…. Kurt, buddy… I call it that too… was gifted a ECBP A123 for my birthday… can’t wait to open it… great vid guys…
Lovin Trentons reaction at 11:39 😄
I just think we all need to commend Trenton for not completely losing it when his dad was describing the “black pepper” note he was picking up
I almost spit my coffee out my nose on that one.
We watched that part twice, Trent was holding his laugh… 😂
I'm crying ROFL
I just scored a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof today…really enjoy it!
Good job Trent holding it together after that black pepper fumble
I've yet to try any Barrel Proof High ABV Bourbons aged over 8-12 yrs but will start seeking them out as i like my Booze to be Smooth from sitting in the oak
Triannual might be word you are looking for. I would like to find a Larceny barrel proof to try. Thanks for all the good work you two do.
I was lucky enough to get both of these. They are both really impressive. I like the nose on the EC better, but the palate of the Larceny. I absolutely get the drying effect with the EC. The EC is much hotter for me. A lot more pepper. The Larceny is just sweet and rich. I agree with your assessment of value! The Elijah Craig is packed with flavor but not enough to command $100+. Great comparison!
12 yr barrel proof at $100 in today's market is what I'd call a good value
That's one bottle I haven't seen hiked up price wise. I've always seen it for 60 to 80. Which I really is very reasonable.
Releasing every 3 months is quarterly (3 is one fourth of 12); release every 4 months is triannually I believe
Just bought Larceny A123. I am a wheat fan and this delivers. I also love ECBP and will admit that EC C923 is better than this Larceny. Tried Larceny this week. Loved it!
You guy are great love watching you all from Charleston WV.
This is absolutely one of my favorite comparisons! I tend to lean toward the ECBP but both always great!
I honestly used to be in favor with ECBP all the time but the last two batches from Larceny have outdone EC IMO. But love to see what everyone thinks. #congratsonthesilverbutton

I happened to find both of these on Thursday and bought them immediately. I turned to SLB to get their opinions on either and found this!
I love listening to you guys because I can't ever smell anything but the alcohol (ethanal)
We rode the bourbon dinner train in Bardstown KY last year. I fell in love with Larceny that day. We had Elijah Craig too and it was good they served Four Rose's too. My favorite was the Larceny. For the price it's very good.
I love all these notes. Too entertaining! Crazy but entertaining
Great timing for this comparison. I picked up the Elijah Craig BP A123 3-4 weeks ago, and the Larceny BP A123 just dropped in Illinois last week. So I have both now, and am looking forward to this!

Keep up the good work fellas.
Saw that laugh Trenton at the black pec… pepper note 😂
Nice job keeping an almost straight face on the first mention of the black pepper note. Had me laughing!
I think he cracked the smile because he almost said black pecker instead of black pepper but caught and corrected himself haha

Picked up the A123 for $57 today at Sam's. Was super surprised to find it there while grabbing some groceries. Perfect timing for the video 🤝
I see the ECBP in my area for $120-180 never less than that. Glad I'm not missing out too much.
I’m personally going with the ECBP. Especially if you can find a store pick. Typically they are a 10yr I believe. But still a very viscous and complex palette, which is what I prefer.
Just cracked a bottle of Russell's 6 year rye. Good stuff.
You guys should do a rye video.
Cheers
Just picked up the larceny in both A123 and C922 here in Michigan. Have not yet opened them, looking forward to them.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I can find one of them around here. The last barrel proof I purchased was an Old Forester Single Barrel store pick.
Me and Trenton are synced up at 11:36
I’ve got both and they’re both great, but the ECBP has that plum note that I really like. Both solid pours!
Just got the Elijah Craig Saturday and loved it
I picked up that Elijah Craig for the first time ever. I thought it was superb. Drinking it right how, I can see the cedary comment, I was just calling it oak but there is a more high toned character to it. Definitely has some caramel. Tri-annual is the term I believe u were looking for, Trenton. Or one way of saying it.
Great video. I wish I could try the Larceny Barrel Proof
I picked up the ECBP this past Friday here in Virginia. It is my first one, I have not seen the Larceny yet. So far I really like it, a bit hot for me at first but so good. I hope to get the Larceny and other EC when they come out. Great video as always!
I have the A123 right now; love it! That said; I liked the C922 better! Will agree; A123 does drink its proof more than previous versions!
Loved the video....have both, and well....leaning toward the ECBP C922
I agree with other comments, Kurt transposed the wheat and corn percentages. I found a B522 Larcency last Nov. (missed their last C922 by 20 min.- bummer). Still I'm loving the B522, am now hunting for an A123, hard to find in rural Wisconsin.
Best batch of ECBP since C920. Great stuff. Very fruity for me.
I generally find Larceny to be a lot of black pepper on the palate and prefer ECBP even though I tend to love wheatear ..
A122, A123, and now A124 are all bangers. This latest one absolutely smashes the ECBP A124.
I like both Elijah Craig and Larceny standard proofs, I have not gotten the barrel proof to try.
Great review guys. To clear it up though Kurt mixed up the corn and wheat on the Larceny mash bill. Its 68% corn 20% wheat. If it was 68% wheat it would be a wheat whiskey and not a bourbon. Kurt might need to upgrade those cheaters! lol Im right there with you!
this immediately seemed off when I heard it. You are correct murdershark.
@@andrewjohn4222 68% sounded way off
Thanks for the correction! 🤦
Good video, I like the comparaison. Just got our hands on ECBP A123 can't wait to give it a try. I was able to get at MSRP. Seem some pushing 100 bucks. To much.
Just walked in the door with those two bottles I found at my local. What a nice coincidence.
Another excellent video. Maybe do a video with an A/B/C comparison of various ECBP bottles.
I will also agree with another comment that you should blend these and give us the notes from that sample.
That’s for the heads up on the scan bots! Hopefully Ohio will have theses on the shelf soon!!!
I have never tried any of the Larceny’s, but now I am very intrigued!
80 dollars in MD on the low end. I bought one just because I liked A123 as the designation.
Definitely lied to. Just picked one up for $70
Just picked up the Larceny barrel proof!
Cheers 🥃
Let the ECBP get down below the E and then reevaluate. Then when it gets down into the C on the bottle it gets even better.
I have the Larceny and love it.
Awesome comparison video boys! Looking forward to seeing a battle of the EC A/B/C bottles later this year….great stuff as always! Cheers!
Thank you...was hoping you would do this comparison...
Haven’t tried the Larceny but that ECBP is outstanding!!
I've never been to Sonic either. Will be on the lookout for both of these 🥃 Cheers
Props to Trenton! I was very surprised at how well he kept it together when Kurt messed up saying black pepper 🤣. Black pecker note 🤣
Just got one last night….. very excited to sample.
I do like it at times. I didn’t represent it well in this video but that happens at times.
You guys are killing it! I think you should note the mash bill when doing comparisons.
I picked up the EC 123 from Costco in northern Indiana for only $59.99, feel like a got a steal of a deal.
