Elijah Craig gets the win for me. Trace is middle of the road, a good bourbon. But, Craig is excellant.
So funny how it is so dependent on our palates….I like EC alright - but for me BT wins this head to head by a long shot
Its all subjective that's forc sure! You enjoy what you enjoy, its as simple as that! Cheers 🥃
Can't wait to get my hands on the Buffalo Trace. I started with Elijah Craig and its in first place so far over Woodford, Larceny, Jeffersons and Makers
@@dragonb5758 Good luck finding BT.
@B D agreed, been a hard find around my area. I hear it's much easier in other states
Buffalo Trace was/is the bourbon that moved me off of drinking Jack Daniels for about 30 odd years. And, its the bourbon that got me curious to try others as well. So, channels like yours help open my eyes to 'whats good, and whats crap"...thanks!
Hey, Thank you so much for that I really appreciate the kind words. The journey of trying so many different whiskeys is incredible and I love every minute of it. Glad to hear you're enjoying some too. Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting.
Both are a very good bang for your Buck. You can spend a lot more and get a lot less.
You hit the nail on the head with that statement! Couldn't agree with you more. Thanks for checking out the review. If you haven't already, please consider subscribing to the channel, would love to have you interacting or commenting on my other videos. Cheers!
True that.
Like "Winchester"..... $99.95. I'd rather drink Old Crow for 13.95....
A great head to head review/comparison on a couple standard classics! I enjoy both and it just depends on mood. Cheers Scott!
Cheers Richie, could agree with you more!
This bourbon whiskey review was great! Do more of these please! I've just begun my whiskey journey this year and I'm 65! Cheers!
Thank you Kit, I really appreciate that. If you ever have any questions feel free to email me mybourbonjourney01@gmail.com
Enjoy the Journey!!!
Great head to head Scott, the Buffalo Trace for me works well in cocktails but the Elijah Craig is a good daily sipper. No matter, both are definitely mid shelf or above drams. Cheers to the best bourbon!
Cheers buddy! Appreciate it, I agree like them both and thought this would be fun to do.
This was very helpful Scott. Just starting my bourbon journey. My first bottle was 1792 small batch, and just got a Buffalo trace store pick and it’s so good
Cheers Doug, glad it was helpful, you've started eith a couple of good ones for sure. Enjoy the journey and I appreciate you checking out the videos. Cheers 🥃
Two of my faves, thanks for the excellent review!
Thanks Doggieman, I really appreciate that. Cheers and Happy Holidays
ECSB is one of my favorite bourbons. I plan to get Buffalo Trace for the holiday weekend. Great review.
Cheers Guy, a really nice sweet and easy pour for sure, cheers and hope you enjoy the holiday weekend!
I've tried so many different value bourbons and everytime I go back to elijiah craig it wins
@@stephenpartain5488 I bought a bottle of ECSB yesterday. Can't beat it.
Nice review, very informative, these are two of my favorites. Can’t say one is better. I’m happy with both. I have to have them in my bar.
Thanks Mike, agree good to have both on hand. Both solid pours, Cheers!
I find BT has a very smooth taste with "brown sugar", a slight "grassy", and even "funky" notes. It drinks soft and below its proof. On the other hand I find that EC is much more sour, it has this pungent sourdough smell and test with a lot of "oakey" forwardness. There may be a little hint of mint alongside its fairly forward caramel tones. Actually ECSB has a lot in common with Woodford Reserve Double Oak, try them next to each other and you might be surprised how similar they are, they both carry that very woodsy sour note that I love. Personally I think EC is a much better bourbon than BT for my palette, it's sharper and more tangy with more bite and is just more fulfilling to me.
Hey Josh thanks for watching and the detailed comment, always appreciate it and its important for others to see and hear what and why others like or dislike it. Cheers 🥃
Have you tried 1792 small batch also delicious
You bet! For me, it's one of the more underrated bourbons out there! Cheers 🥃

Great video. I lived how you highlighted each aspect. When you mentioned Char level, it was a good reminder for me to pay attention to that again. I would align with your tastes, and add that I prefer the oak, and I would say brighter fruit of EC. Though I have only had the 12 year. Cheers!
Hey Jon, thanks for checking out the review, agree just something about that oak flavor I really enjoy in a Whiskey. Cheers!
Well done Scott. I had both last night. Elijah Craig gets the win.
Hey Habs, agree for me the ECSB is what I prefer also but wanted to allow one new to bourbon to decide for themselves which they prefer. Cheers buddy! Appreciate the support
Hi, I am going on 55 years old and just starting to get into bourbon. Thank you for the content of these two bourbons. It is helpful to me to have these headed to heads among others. Thank you!

62 here, I guess it's time.
i love both ! BT was my first ever bourbon..and still a favourite..! Cheers buddy !
Figured I'd do a side by side of 2 relatively easy to get bourbons for those getting into bourbon and looking for a comparison, Cheers Chris!
Great review Scott!Keep em coming!
Thanks Casey! Appreciate it, I'll do my best. Cheers!
Great review, just the channel I was looking for!
Hey Captain thank you very much, appreciate the kind words and your support. Glad to have you as a subscriber, Cheers 🥃🥃🥃
Love it, do more of these!
I'd always prefer Elijah Craig. I like buffalo trace but not into the strong leather/tobacco notes with the Buffalo Trace.
I'll be doing more of these, appreciate you checking this out, hope you have or will be subscribing to the channel. Keep an eye out more to come, Cheers!
Nice comparison review, Scott. These are both good bourbons that are readily available in my area and go on sale at least once a quarter for under $25 each (great deal). Have been seeing several store picks locally for them as well. Always interesting to taste the difference from the regular bottle. Cheers! 🥃
Cheers Christine, agree both really good bourbon's and thought it would be fun and hopefully informative to those getting into bourbon, thanks Christine for your support, very much appreciated! Cheers!
As a UK bourbon amateur I think EC will be next purchase. I’m more into Scotch whisky but do like a bourbon from time to time when the mood takes me. Cheers 🥃
Great side by side comparison Scott! You certainly can't go wrong with either one.
I have to agree with you on that one, I just subscribed to your channel also. Cheers!
Two of my favorites, EC much more readily available than BT in my area
I have both of these and I must agree with those who prefer the Elijah Craig. It’s just a bit smoother/fuller and the Buffalo Trace has that “ethanol” finish that I don’t like. Great video.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers 🥃
Great video, new to bourbon, video is much appreciated, enjoy your videos, thank you
Thank you very much, appreciate the support! Consider subscribing, some good stuff on the way, if you ever have any questions, feel free to send me an email. Cheers!
Solid review really enjoyed it!
Thanks Stewart, appreciate you watching and commenting, Cheers 🥃
I looked at both of these today but did end up going with the Larceny to pair with the Goose Island Wheatwhine. Great comparison!
Can't go wrong with the Larceny, nice solid wheated bourbon, probably the one I would have gone with too. Thanks for watching and your support. Cheers!
Great side by side Scott! Buffalo Trace was my first bottle. EC is always a nice pour! I can’t say anything bad about either one.Cheers!🥃
Thanks Press Man! Two easy drinking bourbon's and can't go wrong with either, Cheers!
As everyone else is saying, excellent review. Im a newb to wiskeys as well and the BT is just so easy and taste soooo good to me. EC definitely seems to have a little more character but I really truly enjoy the BT!
Welcome to the world of whiskey, so many good ones out there that you don't have to break the bank on. Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you found the channel!
This was helpful. I'm new to bourbon (coming over from scotch) and Buffalo Trace is the first thing I tried. I really like the sweetness it brings I'm not used to with scotch. I tried Woodford Reserve next. I prefer Buffalo Trace and am looking for more to try. So thanks.
Hi Lee, really glad to hear you enjoyed and liked the review, keep in touch I'd love to have you subscribe to the channel and keep in touch, I'll be interested to follow along with you on YOUR BOURBON JOURNEY, Cheers!
Angel's Envy is nice, complex but rather sweet. Costs three times as much as Buffalo Trace though…
That port finish definitely gives it an approachable factor and adds a little extra for people looking for that in a whiskey. Agree it can be pricey, tough to pass on a couple of BT bottles for one AE. Cheers!
I’m 61 and just started with bourbon. I love Buffalo Trace and was afraid to try anything else. I had Bulleit Rye and it seemed a little bit strong. Your review was thorough and now I’m willing to try the Elijah Craig since you explained it so well. I’m subscribing to your channel for more recommendations. Thank you!!
Thank you Ron, I really appreciate you take the Journey with me. I think you'll enjoy the Elijah Craig, once you try it, please let me know which you prefer and why. If you ever have any questions feel free to email me
mybourbonjourney01@gmail.com
Wow we are the same age. I got Bulleit Rye for the first time on 1/26/22. It is my favorite drink. I am also fairly new to this. I was planning on going out this Tuesday and buying different Ryes but after seeing this I may try to get a bottle of each of these. I am concerned BT maybe hard to find. That's what I have been reading.
Cheers and sorry I missed your reply, I usually try to respond to everyone. Now that its been a year, what have you been enjoying? Thanks again for watching and commenting! Cheers 🥃
Hey Doug, depending on your area, BT can be difficult to find. If you ever have any questions, please let me know, happy to help. Thanks for watching and commenting, Cheers 🥃
I would personally add that the Elijah Craig is more complex than the Buffalo Trace in terms of flavour, but I’m biased, being that Elijah Craig is my go to.
See to me Elijah Craig gives me a strong cherry flavor. Buffalo trace is vanilla and brown sugar. They are both completely different flavors to me.
Interesting comments. I happen to like both Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig. Two of my go to Bourbons.
I'm in your camp, I enjoy both as well and easily two bourbons nice to sip on worth having around at all times. Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting.
I’m very new into my whiskey journey, specifically bourbon. My first bottle I purchased was Buffalo Trace and I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to try the Elijah Craig. Really cool review, new subscriber here
Hi Paul, thank you so much for subscribing, appreciate the support. If you enjoyed the Buffalo Trace um guessing you'll also enjoy the Elijah Craig, both very approachable and easy to sip on, great profiles for both. Cheers and thanks for watching and your comment.
Love it, I’m fairly new myself.
Try Eagle Rare if you haven’t yet, Old Forester 1920 & Elijah Craig Barrel proof is super tasty too once you decide to up the proof. 🥃😁
Agree 100%
Great explanations, thanks from a Bourbon newbie, look forward to comparing some BT to the EC we have here with my newfound training ;)
Awesome! Love to see people getting into the whiskey game and trying different things. If you ever have any questions please let me know. Cheers 🥃
These are two of my Go To Bourbons. Both very nice and easy on the wallet.
Two solid goto's that's for sure. Cheers!
I like both of these. You really can’t go wrong with either. I did enjoy EC a bit more. That bottle didn’t last lol cheers Scott 🥃
Hey Antonio, I agree with you I prefer the ECSB as well just gives you a bit more for me. Cheers buddy!
Great video and nice head to head match up. One thing though, I believe there are 7 levels of char to barrels. In fact, Buffalo Trace put out an experimental whiskey with a #7 charred barrel, unfortunately I haven't seen it or tried it. Thanks for the a great video.
Thanks Eric, man I bet a char #7 would be intense, guessing you wouldn't be able to keep that in the barrel too long without it being an oak bomb. Cheers, thanks for checking out the review.
two that I want to pick up and add to my shelf.... good vid
Thanks John, appreciate that. Let me know after you pick them up what you think! Cheers 🥃🥃
Very helpful, thank you
Hey Matt, you're welcome and thank you for watching and your comment! Cheers 🥃
Two great bourbons thanks for the reviews
Michael, Thank you very much for watching and commenting. I appreciate that very much. I also hope you'll consider subscribing to the channel, would love to have you and your support, Cheers and have a fantastic weekend!
Love your shelves and wood wall.
Thank you very much, appreciate that, Cheers and thanks for watching.
Awesome side by side, Scott!
Thanks Quig I appreciate that, cheers buddy
oooh I'm looking forward to this battle my friend.
Thank you! Appreciate that.
I just discovered your channel and I am just getting into bourbon. I currently am determining my flavor profile and I currenlty lean more towards the sweeter side, but have enjoyed both BT and Elijah Craig.
Hey Pete, thank you very much for checking out the channel, glad to hear your beginning your bourbon journey, both of these bourbons are great to start with and definitely lean on the sweeter side. If you ever have any questions feel free to reach out to me. Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting!🥃
Enjoyed your drama free review! My taste varies between Geo. Dickel and Makers Mark. My current favorite is EC small batch🥃👍 Oh, and I've been sippin' whisky for over 50 years🤙🏻
Thank man I try! Not big into all the other bullsh!t out there either. I love whiskey and try my best to present that. With that being said I'm a big fan of Elijah Craig. Sounds like you have a wide array of Whiskey you enjoy which I really appreciate. Cheers and THANK YOU for watching and the support.
from Brazil, thank you !
Cheers! THANK YOU for watching and your support, really appreciate it!
I am new to this. Have an EC but never tried BT. Looking forward to doing a comparison. Thanks for the insight.
Hey Jum, it will be a really fun side by side. If and when you get the BT have someone pour them for you blind, not knowing what your drinking will give you a great opportunity to know what you truly like without seeing the bottle and having that bias. Cheers, keep me posted, would love to gear back from you.
Great every day whiskeys. Both excellent choices. You really can’t go wrong with either.
Agree! Thanks for watching and your comment! Cheers!
Greetings! Per your request, I’m letting you know I am new to bourbon and found your video very helpful. I purchased a bottle of Buffalo Trace on a half-price sale today and I’m already wanting to buy some Elijah Craig or Eagle Rare to expand my collection.
Hey Chris, that's awesome welcome to the world of bourbon. If you have any questions, please shoot me an email at
mybourbonjourney01@gmail.com
Happy to answer any questions. What I would say to do, once you have those bourbons you want have someone pour them in a glass without you knowing what they are and nose and taste, rank then that way you'll know what you enjoy without th3 bias of a label. Cheers! 🥃
Great comparison! Cheers 🥃
Thanks guys!
EC small batch is my favorite daily in the under $30 range, vs coopers craft 100, 1792 SB, and KC9, but I have not tried BT yet. Looks like there might be a bottle under the tree this year… Solid review.
Thanks Wade and you rattled off some really nice under $30 bourbon right there! Cheers 🥃
Just found this channel, great video. I’m new to bourbon and I was looking at both these bottles. Great info. Thank you

@@mybourbonjourney Thanks so much for the response, will definitely email you if I have any questions, I am in Australia and managed to pickup a bottle of the Buffalo Trace this morning, next one will be the Elijah Craig.
Keep me posted, always love hearing peoples experiences with bourbons. Cheers!
Love you're reviews Scott, no hokey crap just great info. BTW: I'm from Madison and am having a hell of a time finding Buffalo Trace and was actually told by a guy at Steve's Liquor that they cannot get BT currently. Have you ran into this?
Hey Pete, Thank you very much, nice to connect with another WI guy. Yes, the BT comes and goes pretty quickly unfortunately. I know the allocation game is string here as we don't get much and when we do it's not around long. Thanks for watching and your support, I appreciate it! Cheers 🥃
Been really difficult to source the BT anywhere! Elijah Craig was a nice surprise, I poured a dram and added a little water, let it sit for half hour and it was very enjoyable. Caramel cream.
Agree, a drop or two of water can really help and I'm a big fan of letting a bourbon/Whiskey sit out and open up, can really do some wonders. Cheers and thanks for watching.
love the flatpicking!!!!
As do I! Cheers and thanks for watching
Aha, not only have I had both but I have both on my shelf. Currently half way down a bottle ecsb currently. Price wise over here, the BT is about $23 from anywhere. ECSB however is about $52. I'd say in honestly I prefer the BT and considering the price was quite underwhelmed.
Buffalo Trace is my go to whiskey when I just want something to sip on and don't want to think too much about it, or I have friends over that aren't really whiskey fanatics. It never fails to please, light, mild, nothing fancy, but nothing bad either, just a solid whiskey. I would agree with the "apple" nose and taste, if I didn't know better I would think it mixed with hard cider.
Hey Aaron, could agree with you more. A nice easy sipper when you just what a little something or to help introduce someone who's new to bourbon, great starter. Cheers and Thanks for your comment and for watching!
Amazing video Scott! I really like the BT more than the EC.
Cheers Kevin, both solid bourbon's, figured this would be one split right down the middle regarding which each preferred,
Very helpful video! I saw this video and went to buy this 2 whiskeys to taste them side by side. I got the BT for $17 and EC for $19.99. I’m new to this, but comparing two similar made whiskeys sounds like a smart idea. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you ery much for watching! Always a good idea to put bourbons up against each other and even better if you can so it blind, that way you'll truly know what you like without the bias of a label. I'd love to know which you liked and why! Cheers 🥃
Good prices! What state?
Wisconsin but some prices may have changed throughout the years in addition to availability
This made me smile. I like both BT ECSB but have not tried them in a taste test. I was planning to this friday when I just happened in your post! Must be a sign from the whisky gods....never ignore the signs is my mantra😁
Hey John, glad I could make you smile, lol, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when you do your side by side and which you prefer. Yes, never ignore thecwhiskey God's, Cheers and thanks for checking out the video. If you haven't, consider subscribing to the channel would love to have you around and in the chats.

@@johnheaton1454 Thank you John, appreciate the support.
Enjoyed the video. Tried Elijah Craig for the first time last night. Liked it just a bit better than Buffalo Trace, for similar reasons you mentioned.
Chris, thank you for watching and commenting, glad to hear you're enjoying the EC. Both good for different reasons but worth having on your bar.
Just starting to try out bourbons. Got myself a Bulleit and a Maker's Mark in 375ml bottles. Wanted to try Buffalo Trace, but it was only in 750ml bottles. Wish all whiskies would offer miniatures and small bottles.
Hey Marco, you're doing it the right way, see what it is you like first and progress from there, you'll figure out if you enjoy a rye bourbon or wheated or rye whiskey but most importantly have fun with it and don't rush the process. Cheers buddy and welcome to the world of whiskey,
Great review, I'm a big fan of the Elijah Craig small batch but haven't tried the Buffalo Trace. I like Buffalo Trace Distillery's Eagle Rare, but anything from them is difficult to get where I live. I'm pretty new to bourbon so there is a lot I haven't tried. I'm curious about the difference between straight bourbon and regular bourbon. Great video, subscribed.
Thank you very much Mr. Black! Appreciate that. Buffalo Trace is a really nice entry level bourbon and if you can get one, buy it. It's a really nice daily bourbon to have around for a nice price too. As for the term "Straight Bourbon" it means the bourbon in the bottles a minimum of 2 years old. If its non age stated it's supposed to be 4 years old. Thanks for subscribing and supporting the channel, happy to have you on board. Cheers and Happy Holidays!
Nice really enjoy the match up, I did the same but I have to improve on the nose technique
Hey Keith, thank you very much, I really appreciate you checking out the review and commenting. Cheers!
Last week bought Buffalo Trace; delicious. Today bought the Elijah Craig Small batch. I get earthiness on the nose & on the palate. Same price range $35 & $32
Fun going through and establishing what it is you prefer and why. Note that that can change from Day to day too. Cheers 🥃
@@mybourbonjourney absolutely I just bought Redwood Empire pipe dream sooo sweet & delicious
For me I kind of lean towards EC but It might vary depending on the day. It doesn’t hurt that it’s about 5-7$ cheaper in NJ. I’ve seen Buff Trace priced all the way to 40$ but usually it’s right around 34$ with EC coming in below 30$. I think they’re both great sippers especially if you want to share it with others who aren’t as into bourbon. But damn Trace might take the win on bottle design alone since it’s so cool. Great matchup!
Thanks Joe and I couldn't agree with you more. The BT and frankly EC are both great intro bourbons as you mentioned. Appreciate you watching and commenting! Cheers!
Buffalo Trace is the only Bourbon, that I've had- so far... I'm a MASSIVE fan- love it. My first bottle kill. Only started drinking whisky, this year.
Hey Ben, you started with a good one, such an easy drinking bourbon. If you ever have any questions, please let me know. Hope you'll consider subscribing to the channel, would love to have you, really enjoy the conversations with people. Cheers
@@mybourbonjourney Howdy. It's a very easy & enjoyable dram, for sure. Have a great day. Peace 🇺🇸👍🤠👍🇨🇦
I'm a huge fan of buff as well and will continue to go back to it but for a little variety, check out the Rittenhouse Bonded Rye. Great whiskey at a close price point to BT. Cheers
I love your approach, keep doing what you are doing. Side note, do you play disc golf? I'm getting the vibe and thought I might ask.
Thanks buddy, are you calling me a pot smoker? lol No on the disc golf. Literally never played it. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers 🥃
I personally prefer BT. I can't help it, I just love the sweeter flavor profile. I buy a bottle every chance I get. But EC also stays in my inventory so won't say no to that either!
There are a lot of people in your camp who really enjoy BT and their products. As you said the EC definitely has a place on the shelf. At the end of the day, they are both nice easy sipping bourbon's and you can't go wrong with either! Cheers buddy 🥃
I'm mostly a Scotch and rye guy, but do have the occasional bottle of bourbon in my cabinet. At the moment I have a bottle of Larceny. Elijah Craig has also frequented my cabinet from time to time. I haven't tried Buffalo Trace. I might have to give it a try.
I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure apples are not in the citrus fruit family. :-)
Thanks for checking out the review, yes you are correct, applecare not a citrus, probably said by mistake when coming up with a description of what I'm tasting. As for Larceny and Elijah Craig both nice everyday bourbon's. If you like those I'd bet you would enjoy Buffalo Trace. Cheers!
So much hype for Buffalo Trace... when I finally got some, I was let down. But it has grown on me. I feel like it's a status thing if you can get some nowadays
At the end of the day its just an avg bourbon, nothing to write home about that's for sure. If you find it great, if not, well no big deal. Cheers! 🥃
I have both in my collection but i haven't had Elijah Craig yet im not sure which i should have on my Birthday next week with aDon Pepin Garcia 15th Anniversary Cigar. what do you recommend?
I really like EC. I have a couple of Old Forester (1910 and 1920) which is more expensive but I prefer EC. I’m open to trying others but I like EC for an everyday bourbon.
Hey brother, I agree, both the OF area great but the EC as an everyday pour is great! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers 🥃
great, thanks
Thanks Andre, appreciate you tuning in, Cheers! 🥃
Could you expand to whiskey to other parts of the world I think this is a great channel it gets right to the review no messing around but would like to hear about scotch and other whiskies.
Thank you so much for the kind words, as for other whiskey's unfortunately Scotch isnt something I know a lot about so that's not reallly something I get into on my channel. I do a lot of Bourbon, Rye, Some single malts and American Whiskey for the most part. I hope you'll stick around for some of those reviews. Cheers and again, thank you for your support and your comment!
Great review as i expected, i we get the BT for around $55 here in aus and unfortunately its bottled at 80 proof, where the EC is around $85 bottled at 94 proof. For me the BT was unbearable and sat around for 3 months while i drank anything else. As for the EC i enjoyed it very much and found it to be very similar to bakers bourbon. Slainte!
Man those prices are crazy!!! With that being said, agree BT at 80 proof would be a pass, EC at 94 proof would be the better selection. Cheers buddy and thank you very much for watching the videos and your comments.
Good review. I’ve had my fair share of bourbons. Picked up EC yesterday due to price, $25. I thought it might be a good value but in the end it is too harsh neat, and needs some water or ice. Flavor is good but there’s just too much heat. If you like that, you will like this. I prefer something smoother.
Thanks for watching and sharing on this one, Cheers 🥃
I think Elijah Craig! both are close though , I could have either one , and they are both delicious , and In there own ways ...and then I start thinking of wild turkey 101 , which I'm currently trying , very good as well
Hey Dustin, I agree, take your pick don't think you can go wrong with either. Both really nice bourbons. As for the WT 101 another fantastic budget friendly bourbon. Cheers and thanks for watching
I take it the BT Mash Bill stated was an educated guess :)
From a trusted source, lol. One of the writers at moderthirst.com has posted in the past the mashbills for the majority of the distilleries. Cheers Peter!
ELIJAH CRAIG FOR THE WIN....🥃 Happy New Years🎉🎊
Dude I heard you speak and I’m like oh this guy is from Wisconsin. And then I looked at your shirt lol. I’m from illinois btw. 😂
Cheers to us Mid West guys, thanks for watching, happy to have a fellow Midwestern in!
Great review Scott. I like bt a little better. Both are decent, Although now I'm a 101 or rare breed guy.
Cheers
Thank you Gary, appreciate it! I'm a fan as well and really enjoy what the 101 offers and a big fan of the Rare Breed. Cheers 🥃
EC is excellent. BT is OK but there is nothing that stands out about it. I know others who love it though.
Having a hard time choosing one over the other. This may sound stupid , but sometimes it depends what kind of bar I am in or setting. I enjoy both equally .
That doesn't sound stupid at all, environment makes a huge difference and can totally affect what it is you feel like sipping, Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting 🥃

Thanks Ryan, appreciate that. Can't go wrong with an everyday solid Whiskey like Elijah Craig. Think it offers a nice proof and great flavor profile. Cheers and thanks for watching.
Same here, find myself going back to EC . Put it up against anything $60 and under.
Both excellent. Elija is little more expansive here in south Florida.
That always an issue with allocation, sometimes it's crazy how prices very from state to state. Cheers thanks for checking out the video, if you haven't already I'd love to have you as a subscriber of the channel! Always appreciate when people leave comments, Thank you, CHEERS!
Both are great choice for Under $35 in Miami Beach Fl I got the plug
@@pattyzabala7404 total wine on miami beach is so so
Sipping on some Elijah Craig now watching this. Good tasty stuff.
Simple man thanks for watching, appreciate it, Cheers
Nice job.
Thank you Ruchard! Appreciate you watching, Cheers 🥃
I just got in to Scotch first as an investment idea, then i rememberd warten Buffet say you should only invest in wath you know, so i went out to buy a glenfiddich 12 and Fell in love, now i habe a small collection of 9 bottles and i thinknits time to check out Bourbon.
Hey Steve, I would agree, give the world of bourbon a look. If nothing else it's also a delicious hobby! Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting!
Warten buffet🙈 this auto correct is killing me.....(german phone)
Scott, Great comparison of two relatively inexpensive, very good bourbons. I prefer the BT a bit more, I find it well balanced and rounded with the sweet, spices and oak, but like jumping back and forth. Hope to see more of these accessible and affordable bottle comparisons. Just received your challenge coin and it's GREAT, thanks. Cheers!
He DJ thanks, I plan on doing a lot more of these side by side comparison videos. Glad you received the coin and like it, Cheers buddy!
I like both A Lot ! Only purchase so far that beats them to me Woodford Reserve Double Oak 👍🏻 the best so far
The Woodford double oak is a whole different beast compared to the two I reviewed. The others are nice little sipper though! Cheers 🥃
I'm fairly new to the whole bourbon thing and I have to say you described exactly what I can understand. I've been very interested in Buffalo Trace and now I'm even more so.
Appreciate that and enjoy the journey and exploring all thise fantastic Bourbons, juat don't get all caught up in the hype of some. Cheers! 🥃
Definitely helpful! I'm a bourbon noob and I've noticed a lot of similarities between the Buffalo Trace and Michters small batch; however, I cannot find Buffalo Trace/Michters comparison of any type. Will you consider comparing these two?
Hey Shawn, thanks for tuning in and leaving a comment. The bourbons you mentioned are all in that same wheelhouse regarding flavor profile and proof and all easy drinking and good introduction bourbons to get an idea of what it is you like or don't like. What bourbons were you wanting to see compared? Also, if you ever have any questions feel free to reach out to me. Cheers!
@@mybourbonjourney I was interested in seeing a shootout between the Michters US 1 Small batch and Buffalo Trace. The profiles seem so similar, so
I was looking for an expert opinion to point out the differences, as well as which is actually the better bourbon. Thanks for the reply. Love the collab between you and Jason C. You guys are awesome!👍
Hey Shawn, thanks buddy, Jason is a great friend, we have some good things coming, if you want in on the barrel picks, check out www.patreon.com/mybourbonjourney the higher pledge amounts get first crack as we release the bottles to our Patrons first. No pressure, just letting people know if interested. Cheers!
Buffalo Trace I liked better than Michter's Bourbon but still not as much as the unicorn, Michter's American Whiskey. Michter's American if you haven't tried is sooo good! I highly recommend! It is a very underrated whiskey! But Buffalo trace I find a wonderful wonderful experience. I find buffalo trace is very standard fare till you swallow and boom lots of taste.
Now here’s someone who knows there stuff!
High respect my man. Enjoyed watching you explain the taste. I could almost taste those vanillas lol!
🍷
Kerry and Berry Thank you so much, appreciate the kind words, I try to provide as much info as possible that will help others with deciding if it's something they'd enjoy or not. Appreciate your support, Cheers and hope you and the family are staying safe and healthy.
Both are good n excellent bourbon 👍👍👍
Hey Roger, thanks for watching and I couldn't agree with you more, Cheers!
I find your channel interesting. I do have to ask; how do you get citrus from green apple? Green apples are in no way citrus. Just asking.
Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve are my top two bourbons I like so far, but I've only tried maybe in the neighboorhood of 15 different bourbons so far. Currently in the process of creating my first infinity bottle have 5 different bourbons in it so far. It's missing Buffalo Trace in it so that will definitly be my next bottle I purchase.
Infinity bottles are always fun. Buffalo Trace and Woodford both solid for sure. Cheers and enjoy you Bourbon Journey, sounds like you're on a great road.
Have you tried makers mark and the varients surrounding it?
