Got my 5 tees. Can’t wait to see them in real life. What a nice deal. Thanks.
The look on your face when that glass hit the floor was worth the price of admission times two.
For the WTWT, the Trace could seem a little bit lightweight but your evaluation was very fair. I come back to it once in awhile and truly enjoy the change-up and crushablility - which can be more dangerous than a flying glass from the wheel of confusion.
Watching the glass crash segment was the hardest I've laughed at a RUclips video since your Bardstown Series #3 long-pour fail. The reviews are great, but this is the content we live for!
Wild Turkey 101, or Elijah Craig Small batch are my personal favs under $30.
Love the ECSmB.
Old tub, early times BiB, and old forester 100 proof are also great choices
@@bobboberson6664 - I need to try those!!
Both great. If you like those two and haven't tried 1792 small batch yet you should.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
I happened to find a single barrel store pick of buffalo trace. The only one I've seen. Excited to see how it is against a regular bottle.
Someone had told me Buffalo Trace was only a mixer so I overlooked it for awhile when I began collecting since I prefer a straight up neat glass of bourbon. After I tried it, I now learned to buy 2 bottles whenever I find it lol! Its very mild and sweet pretty basic bourbon, and yeah the finish is short. Buffalo Trace has excellent customer service if you call and the guy I spoke with on the phone gave me tons of info and some very interesting stories, especially since he had worked for Wild Turkey prior to BT. Cheers Matt!
I’m in awe of your pour skills:))
“Quite a sack” 🤣 Great review. Loved seeing the wheel of confusion snafu footage. Sorry for your loss. Centrifugal force is a thing
Ha! Did you slurp up the Rare Breed off the floor?? I would have. BT and Old Forester 100 are my go to sippers under $30.
Looks like the wheel of confusion has these weird circular indents where a glen might fit....lol! Love the vids bro! Looking forward to Matt Madness season 3!
hahahahaha the reaction when the glass smashed i laughed out loud. Wish I could get more BT up here in RI for retail. I drank a few gallons of this stuff on my cruise in April, so glad it was included in my drink package.
I was at the BT distillery in March and during the tasting they said BT is aged 8-9 years. I was shocked, I had no idea it was aged that long. Figured it would be around 6.
I find it hard do believe. I would think that if it's anything over 8 years old, they would have slap that on the label. But who knows.
After the tour, †he tasting room sample tasted JUST like the rick house smelled, I dig it !!
no way it would be a 6, it would've tasted much younger. bt tastes aged longer than wt101 to me. and wt101 is 6 to 8 years.
Your face when that fucking glass flew off. 😳😭😕😊😗🎶. I laughed! so! hard! The black and white editing was potent.
Legendary review
Wild Turkey 101 and Coopers Craft 100 at that price point. Heaven Hill Green Label was there when it was available. If we went to $35, I'm all about that new Green River. 4 year age statement and 90 proof, great bottle for the price point.
"...which isn't the right word to use in this situation..." Your timing is always perfect.
I can't believe Julie Like knocked that Rare Breed off the wheel of confusion......Julie !!!!
😂
I would love to see Early times BIB VS the 20 to 30 dollar favorites like Elijah, Buffalo, Larceny, etc.
The Julie Like Wheel of Confusion needs some rails on the outside ( like the Gravitron at the carnival that pushes you up against the wall).
Is no one talking about his face when the glass broke ? 😂 I laughed for 10 minutes 😂 thank you ! I needed that!
😂😂😂 at that reaction when the glen fell off! You’re the best
1792 SB, Woodford Reserve, Elijah Craig SB, Old Forester 86, Larceny and Buffalo Trace are my go to under $30
I really liked the bottle of Old Grand Dad 114 I had, and it only cost $25. In the under 30 range I agree with your picks, but add Old Forester 100, Old Forester Rye and Wild Turkey 101.
"A pleasant aroma evacuates this glass..." another spectacular round of 'Deep Thoughts by Matt Porter'! You make me Happy Matty-My-Man! :)
Great easy sitting on the beach sip. Save high proof for winter.
Great video, thanks for posting it. Condolences on the Rare Breed break. 😟 I like both WT 101 and Buffalo Trace. If I had to make a hard choice between the two, I’d take Buffalo Trace to sip on its own, and WT101 to mix.
Wild Turkeys a lot more intense than BT. I like both for sipping though.
You may need to glue some kind of rings on that wheel of death to hold the glasses. Great video as always. Cheers.
I got a store pick of Buffalo Trace earlier this year that was fantastic. Like legit might have been better than Eagle Rare and Blatons but for $30.
I just bought 2 bottles of store pick BT. Thought it was hard to pass up at 28.99. Looking forward to trying it.
You could put some rubber grippies or drill some glencairn-base-sized indentations in the lazy Susan to prevent those accidents in the future.
To me buffalo trace is extremely safe and neutral. Its good but boring. I would much rather have a wt 101, ec sb, or etbib
100%. I don’t hate BT, but the hype train is crazy.
Hancocks is the better offering imo some SP are great tho
@@mojo88bassandbourbon72 never seen a hancocks in person
@@LeatherDaddy97 ive only got them by overpaying in NYC or trades
Fair review. I think BT is a good basic affordable bourbon, much better than Maker's Mark imo. It's a default as a mixer for me along with Wild Turkey 101 and the Old Forester 100 or Rye. I just picked up 2 bottles of BT from a liquor store in Flagstaff, AZ that are store pick single barrels for $28.99 each, not bad given what regular BT is going for these days. Very curious to see what they're like, as I haven't bought BT for awhile.
Love this buffalo it’s cheap but it doesn’t leave you feeling cheap It loves you long time
There is a BT store pick available in GJ, $22.99. Also for Rare Breed VS two stores just got in their Elijah Craig Single Barrel picks, an 8 and a 10 year. I think you do some bottle hunting down this way, happy hunting!
Can you email me that info? ;) adhdwhiskey@gmail.com
I friggin love watching this channel and hanging out with Matt. Is there a best bourbon under $30 blind review? Off the top of my head I think Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey 101 are neck and neck. I used to favor Makers Mark but after tasting their MM46 it's like with their basic now I'm not tasting what's there but what's missing so I don't even care to purchase that bourbon again.
3 Oz of BT with a half teaspoon of agave and two mint leaves over ice after the beach. Perfection.
My two regular "go to stores" in Central NJ never seem to have this in stock. i stopped at another local store and they had a few bottles for $40.
i knowingly overpaid for it and I did enjoy it. I will buy it again if I see it at the sub to low $30s. But at $40 there are several other bottles I would prefer for slightly less or slightly more than $40.
Good sipper for the price...Rare Breed hitting the floor made me jump...Lol...Thanks for that clip of video...Cheers brother
Where do we get the shirt your wearing? Thanks keep up the awesome reviews!
Your face when that fell off made me cry a little bit!
Can you please make the video of the tin cup 10 vs eagle rare. I’ve been waiting for that lol
💯👍🏻🥃🗻🦅
I would say 1843, early times bottle in bond, and rebel 100 are usually my favorites under $30.
Currently sitting on 10 single barrel store picks including Great White Buffalo. BT store picks are some of my favorite bourbons.
Don't just sit, sip!
$100 in upstate NY. Not paying for that.
Ive seen store picks that high, thats crazy! Its a $30 bourbon, store pick or not!
Sadly yes, always marked up
Nailed it!
Old Forester 100 is just as good. Evan Williams BIB, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Knob Creek 10, Russel 10 list goes on.
Where did you find a Knob Creek 10? Never seen such a creature.
@@xiamengbaby It’s pretty available in North Carolina ABC stores.
A man of culture
@@Rex73777 you sure you don't mean Knob Creek 9 year old? Or maybe you got a store pick single barrel with barreled and bottled dates of 10 years or more? No 10 year product pops up on the radar.
I'm lucky enough to be able to find Wild Turkey 101 in a 1.75L for $36-45 around where I live and I don't think anything can beat that price for a daily drinker for me.
Just bought 2 1.75 bottles of WT101 for 30$ each. Unbeatable.
@@alekseymel7852 JEEEEEEZ that's one hell of a deal, what part of the world were you able to find that?
@@ElectroWolf22 ABC liquors in North Miami. South Florida
Knob for the same price?
@@theingobeck4772 I haven't bought any in quite a while but I believe so, somewhere in that ballpark
6.9 "Pretty Good" is what popped up for me right away when I saw the scale, but I could be convinced to go to 7.3 because it was the gateway bourbon for my wife.
I'd consider 7.5 to 8 fair when you factor in price too.
Still one of 2 bottles I am never without- ever. Multi-functional.
You can get an old record player and glue a rack to a record that holds 4 glencairn glasss. Then tun it on and closes your eyes.
Very good lightweight bourbon. Very funny video, Matt!
OMG, I laughed so hard when the glass broke!!
Kinda like the return of the Undertaker to rastling ... OF 1920 got a little frisky and kicked the turkey right off the wheel of confusion. Cool - look forward to the rematch. Cheers!
That clip was so sad! I felt your pain. Good thing you can go right down to your local liquor store and replace it if you got $50.00 .
I’d probably reach for OGD 114 before BT at that price point.
Me too
Loved that look on your face🤣
Great beginners bourbon. But I still pick up a bottle when see on the shelf. (Rarely)
The face at 1:01 😂😂 Never read the back of the bottle and it’s almost unimaginable that it says that. Gotta love marketing departments. That aside, BT is definitely good solid bourbon with a great nose.
“Butter my biscuits”. Ah geez, I cannot catch my breath!
At this point, I only buy a bottle of Buffalo Trace if it's got the "Single Barrel" sticker on it. Good thing is that it's exactly the same price as the regular, blended bottles (at least in my go-to liquor store). Maybe it's just psychological, but the single-barrel always just tastes better.
BT, if you can find it, is closer to $45-50 in my area (same with Eagle Rare). Would love if it were under $30 and available to me.
Kroger in my area had it on sale for $25.00
Somebody just like it, I've never seen any for sale in my area.
not too long ago I could find this reliably in the upper Midwest but it is nowhere to be found in 2022
I enjoy WT 101, EW Single, OF 100 more for $30. I get a sharp note on a lot of BT bottles for some reason (absent on Eagle Rare and BT store picks)
"That buffalo has a bit of a sack on him..." lol
I do like this bourbon, but i wanna be that guy who points out that it should be called bison trace. If they're gonna create a back story for their distillery, it should be accurate. As always, great review Matt!
Probably the funniest and most on point of any of the whiskey reviewers 🤣👍🏾
that glass shatter was so much louder than i expected😂😂
Samesies
"Buffalo Trace is like the elevator music of bourbon..." Concur.
I buy every single store pick I come across, but I am kind of bored of the regular bottle. It's a good intro to bourbon for newbs. I think OF100 beats it out in the sub $30 category.
That turkey flew the coup. Probably kicked 1920s ass in the locker room.
Rare breed just became a little more rare by nosediving off the board after 1920 spartan kicked it in the short and curlies
BT makes a good blender base with WT and 4R
To be honest there are quite a few bottles that stop me from buying expensive bottles- Old Forester 100, Wild Turkey 101, Elijah Craig Small Batch and Buffalo Trace have probably saved me a lot of regret . Ill go to the store and be like hmmmm I want to try that then pick up a bottle that I know I like and then Ill go to a local bar that has a good whiskey selection pay for a pour and be thankful I did not drop 70 bucks on something I was not going to like.
Best flashback ever.
It’s a good mixer for sure. That Turkey wanted to fly!…
Today on ADHD Whiskey we learn about the power of centrifugal force. 👍
Okay…I have not laughed that hard at a whiskey tube video in a while. RIP Rare Breed, but damn funny!
So according to the Wife, I’m emotionless and boring! But this put a smile on my fat face. Keep it going
😂
Find a new one.
Wild Turkey 101, Evan Williams BIB, Evan Williams 1783, Rebel Yell 100, Buffalo Trace
Oh my! I probably shouldn't be laughing about the Rare Breed flying off the wheel but that was funny. Guess I owe you a bottle of Rare Breed now:)
It was just a glass, lol. Love you!!! Thank you for my spinny toy!
Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig small batch are both great sub $30 bourbons . Eagle Rare and Russell's reserve 10 year are next level goodness , for lets say $35 . All 4 are very tasty though .🥃👍😁
While Eagle Rare is very good, it is also a bit timid, much like BT.
Wild Turkey 101 is my favorite under $30. I like it more than Buffalo Trace actually which is good for me. Now Sazerac Rye is $29.99 here when you can find it…and that is a different story. Big fan of Saz
Here in my neck of the woods in Iowa, gas stations are the only places you can find Buffalo Trace anymore and they mark them up to ~$60. I told the guy he could go ahead and put it back on the shelf (shelf was behind the counter). Buffalo Trace is a great $30 bourbon, but it's a $30 bourbon, and if you buy it for a dollar more you're an idiot.
For my taste, I prefer old forester 100(sip small amounts, it’s oak-forward), it’s not as thin as Elijah Craig and not as sweet as Buffalo trace to me.
High five right back at ya WTWT! BT or ER have to be the best gateway to bourbon bottles at $35 or less. I can't be the only one that's gonna look for the sack on the next BT bottle I see?
Good stuff. Love the buffalo. Pretty sure I like OF 100 better though.
Holy ham hocks! I actually called a score. Cheers
Here in Reno Nv at our Costco it’s $21.97 for the regular B/T. 750. Gotta try some of the other brands mentioned Love the Rare Breed. $47.97 at our local Wally World.
Oh no, now everyone is going to go after Buffalo Trace products!
Do u live under a rock?! Been the case for a couple years now
Is there any resources to use for hunting bottles aside from calling around that anyone knows of? It's been tough over here in fl
Matt, 1792 Small Batch is THE best bourbon under $30, day in and day out. It is far superior to BT in every aspect. I've never understood the mystique of BT, which is funny considering Eagle Rare is one of my top 5 whiskies. In So Cal, where I'm at, getting a bottle of bourbon for under $30 is getting impossible, but thankfully the 1792 SB can usually be found at the markets for $25.
The difference between you and Dr. Phil, is you are not a fraud.
BT only $23 in my part of the world; very solid pour for the price.
You said "small batch" several times in this video. Yet my bottle of Buffalo Trace says only Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey.
In my area of Georgia (when I can find it), it goes for about $32 for a .75L bottle.
It is currently my favorite. I prefer it over Woodford Reserve distillers select, 1792 small batch, Four Roses small batch, Elijah Craig small batch or Bulliet Bourbon frontier whiskey.
How? I'm in AZ and it was ~$24 at most grocery stores. It may have dried up though I don't ever look for it.
BT is maybe the best entry (approachable) whiskey you can get.
I like BT but I would buy Old Forrester 100, 1792, Coopers Craft 100 or WT 101 over that. I continue to be impressed with OF 100 and it continues to jump into my cart.
Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig are good ones when I want to sit outside and enjoy a cigar. A nice daily drinker
Buffalo trace makes me very happy!!!especially the price.
😮 Nooooo! Rare Breed are you ok? You ok? Please be ok! Rare Breed say something. C'mon.😭
Bought this for 19.99 3 years ago. My daily drinker. Impossible to find now, and I pay 40 bucks if I do.
BT used to be under $30 in NY but not for a cpl years now. I'd take the EC SmB or OF100 any day. (Not really sure what to make of the a.m t-shirts. Eat some shrooms first? : )
