    Drew & his crew put a rubber roof on my mobile home in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC. The price was good and he did what he said he would. He cleaned up very well. They worked quickly and kept to the timeline he gave me. I would recommend them because I feel I can trust whatever he tells me. I plan to hire him for other projects. Ashley H
    Single Wide Mobile Home Trailer Roof
    How to install a new roof Over a single wide
    In this video we are installing a rubber roof over a mobile home in Whiteville NC
    First of all we installed strapping over the mobile home to except the OSB Plywood with a six inch over hang.
    After Installing the OSB Plywood we install EPDM Rubber roofing over the entire structure using Sub straight glue 100%glue down. The final steps are to install the pipe caps and termination bar on the eaves.
    Not all people will do this like we do and that is ok with me. This is just 1 way to do it.

    Adding a layer of 1 1/2" rigid foam between the 2x4s would make a huge difference in the heating and cooling costs for the home. Even better, you could cover the entire roof with 1/2" ridge foam and install the 2x4s on top of it and then add more rigid foam between the 2x4s. Maybe you could offer the foam insulation as an option.

    The only thing I see that you could have done to improve the adhesion of the EPDM membrane is, as you are rolling it out, have someone with a street broom with soft bristles sweeping the rubber out from the middle to the end and side to get all the air bubbles out. Before you put your termination strips on the sides, this way you will not get all those ugly bubbles I see you have, you want 100% adhesion. I know this video is 5 years old and you probably do things differently now.

Google maps shows a corner flapped over, and there are stains on the ceiling directly underneath. Been like that 2 or 3 years. Disabled so I actually cannot get on roof to see. If you think about it if you go up and walk on your mobile home and you stand on one of them dresses it’s week but if you put a piece of plywood up there it’s strong so I don’t understand the comments from other people

    In my area up north they wont let me add plywood over the top because of additional roof load + snow load. Any suggestions on how to do this without the plywood? Strapping with iso and then rubber? or metal over strapping? My only other option is to build a gable roof and that may be cost prohibitive.

      When you go up on the roof you will probably see humps where the wires are. That is generally the way we find them. What I do if you noticed most of my rooms have holes in them I cut a hole in the roof first find out where the wires are after I determine where the wires are our use one by fours if there are wires and strap it if no wires you can go straight down to the roof call me if you have any questions 910-294-1761 I’ll be glad to answer any questions

      Generally what you want to do is go to the main power source inside the house the breaker box. Find out if the wires run up the wall or down the wall. If they run up the wall then you want to go right above where the fuse box is on the roof and with your feet you can basically feel if there are wires running on top of the rafters. What I generally do if I have to do the job anyways is I cut a 12 x 12 hole above the fuse panel and find out where the wires are running. And I only do that if I’m going to do the roof if I was not going to do the roof I just feel for the wires. If they’re up there you’ll be able to tell by the bumps in the metal over the

      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  2 года назад

      Yes sir there were not any wires on this particular roof we used one by fours in some areas and two by fours and others and the reason for that was because of the 5 foot pump that ran down the center of this trailer. We used two by fours and one by fours for runners just to get the middle of the trailer and the outside of the trailer all basically at the same height so we didn’t end up with a big bump in the middle It was not for the wire snow

    I really need some help. I have an old 1970's single wide with a bow roof. The walls are only 3" thick. It has metal skirting. We need to make the walls thicker so that we can install regular windows and add insulation. We also need to do something with the roof. Our mobile home sits on a cement pad, no footing. My hubby thinks that we can, remove the skirting and the metal siding, frame up from the ground (half under the trailer, half out) and then frame up from that with like a 2x2 or 3x2 , add insulation and then add osb and vinyl siding or just wood siding. But then the wall would be exposed at the top. We talked about doing a wood roof over with shingles and posts but I was hoping to just lath the roof and add insulation and metal roof. Is that possible ? Will it be able to go over the new thicker walls? Can you add a soffit ? I'm just a broke chick looking for a cheap way to make our mobile home livable in the winter so I can move out of the city ASAP LOL please help !!

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  2 года назад

      3 inches thick you should be able to put windows in there no problem your windows do not have to be thick or the walls don’t have to be thick excuse me in order to put windows in what do you want to do is order windows without window jams. If you order windows with jams you would have to have thicker walls but if you put windows in with no jam extensions on them you can put any window you want. 3 inches thick is plenty thick for any window you want.Go on Google and type in new windows without jam extensions. You’ll have to make your own jam extensions out a one by fours ripped down. And then as for the roof I don’t know what your situation is or what your roof looks like does it have a peek on it or is it a flat roof if it’s a flat roof you can put the rubber roof on it like I do with the overhang. I would order windows with no jam extension looked it up on Google
