Renting video games was mentioned in this video. Miss the days when you could go to movie store and rent video games. The excitement of it being the weekend and knowing you'll be browsing the gaming section a bit was pure awesomeness.

TommyGun Well you can still do it for new console too like xbox 360, ps3, ps4 xbox one , wii, switch, there are plenty of store here in Canada that still do it and it is cheap, like 5$ for 3 days or 7days

It was 1993 the first year I ever played a link to the past. My cousin brought the game over and we didn't undestand it either. We were both around 7 or 8 years old and we just went with the punches and eventually figured it out. The game became our youth and best summer memory. We played alttp and mario kart endlessly that summer of 93. Snes will always be my main console!!

A Link to the Past is not only one of the finest crafted games in the zelda series, but one of the most well crafted games of all time! Everything about it is perfect, the music, the atmosphere, the memories, the nostalgia, the difficulty, the dungeons, the gameplay & story. The other day some guy told me ALttP is a bad game...that made me laugh really hard Lol

I recently picked up a very rare Zelda game from a guy who works at Nintendo of North America: Zelda Twilight Princess, the limited edition online Japanese version for the Gamecube... UNOPENED. it was never sold in stores, and to find it unopened was a huge find!

Love the dynamic you two have going. It's one of the things that makes this show stand out from many of the other great gaming shows on RUclips.
This is one of the few legendary gaming series that I've never played. I like the look of the original title and the one on the SNES looks really cool too. I think I'll have to scour eBay to pick up a copy of each IF I can find them at an affordable price. It's definitely a big IF from what I've seen so far.

I love the Zelda series and A Link to the past like Rob is my favourite Zelda and my favourite game of all time. I can easily go back to it again and again and never get bored.

I think link to the past is my favorite too. I mean, there's so many epic, awesome zelda games, like the first one, ocarina, and link's awakening (everyon seems to forget that one) but LttP brings back so many good memorysof just good times, and playing it all day, over and over, even to the point of playing it from start to finish in 1 sitting over and over, or just exploring, looking at the cool game art, reading the old NP player's guide with the epic art in it... ahhh, it's just perfect.

I was practically the only kid on the block with a Nintendo
Entertainment System Deluxe Set. I picked up The Legend of Zelda
based on the Nintendo Fun Club News pictuerless coverage in 1987. I remember the weird "burglar" Zelda commerical and seeing glimpses
of the actual video game. So I bought the game no sooner
it released in America. I was blown away by the NES gamepak
box and the Gold cartridge. Spending many school nights on this game.
This game actually got me in trouble with school :P

Zelda 2 was the first Nintendo game I ever saw. When my parents bought one it was one of the 3 original games the got with it.
I liked it even though as a kid I really didn't understand it, My dad got into it too and almost beat it until one of my friends at the time erased all his work and he never played it again.
I couldn't beat the game without cheating until I was about 19 and when I did man It was the best feeling ever. I even took a picture of the final screen to remember it.

My first experience with Zelda was that when I was young, I could only rely on the consoles that my friends had, and they had games like Mario and Sonic, but they never had any Zelda games.
So when I finally got my own console, in 1998, the N64, on that christmas I got Zelda Ocarina of Time and I fell in love with the series.
I also loved Majora's Mask as it was so similar yet so different in the way it was played.
I loved the N64 games so much I can't say everything in these comments.

Great zelda video, johnny!!! The first time I saw zelda was at a sears kiosk the holidays season it cames out. Youngsters might not know this, but in 1986 zelda was billed as "the never ending game". a game so complex that it was impossible to beat. Interesting history note, in 1989 the first nintendo power magazine came out with the selling point that it had the first published world map of zelda so you could now find all the dungeons under the "link" second quest!

  • @MisterGreenonion
    @MisterGreenonion 13 лет назад

Speaking of remaking the original Zelda, years ago I tried to recreate it as an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod. I never got very far, pretty much just made a map of the first dungeon and that's it. But I'll tell ya, running around that dungeon in 3D, even with fairly basic default textures and a machine gun instead of a sword, was pretty freakin' amazing.

By definition, Zelda games are RPGs. RPG, standing for Role Playing Game, applies to the series because you play the role of "Link" (In quotations because you get to name Link in most games). While the game may not have that many modern RPG elements such as leveling up and exp (Besides Zelda II), it is still absolutely an RPG. There are even side quests in pretty much every game like getting heart pieces, empty bottles, weapon upgrades, and more.

A Link to The Past......absolutely incredible beyond imagination. I heard of it and play it once or twice on an emulator, but one day, I found it for sale in this 2nd hand shop on GBA.....and I played it to death; TO DEATH!!!! And it is now the first Zelda game I ever beat. Every piece of that game is amazing, I love every bit. The music, the look of Link (minus the lack of pants), the combat, the excitement, the journey, the bosses and that moment I beat Ganon....Best Zelda moment ever!!!

  • @EnigmaHood

@iseezapie I think once Miyamoto called it an RPG, but all other media call it an action adventure game, and it is. It lacks a leveling up system which is pretty defining in any RPG. The irony of a Role Playing Game is that they aren't about Role Playing anymore, leveling up, experience, character stats, stuff like that are traits of an RPG.

  • @TsukinoAzura

I played A Link to the Past when it was remade on the GBA. I played it and I was blown away. These graphics, on a portible handheld! I first played it at the Game Cube Club event that was touring the USA. That alongside Wind Waker. I hogged the shit out of those two demos. I also beat one of the reps from Nintendo at Mario Party 4 and got some kick-ass gamecube wrist warmers. When I found out about A Link Between Worlds, I came. When I bought it, I went right home and played the shit out of it. I am guilty though; I never finished HERO MODE. It still bothers me to this very day. I am going to marathon all my unfinished games sometime this year.

Love Legend of Zelda. I remember my first time playing it at a friend's house. Had no idea what I was supposed to do and just wandered the map killing monsters till I died.
Unfortunately I wouldn't get a lot of experience with Zelda (we didn't an NES till '90 or so and Zelda was kinda hard to find by then) till Link's Awakening for the GB and ALttP for SNES. Those two games really brought me into the franchise. And it has been my favorite gaming franchise since.

A link to the past has always been my favorite zelda game for the sheer fact that it was the only zleda game I've ever beaten/completed. The zelda games has not been a game series that I've been into even though I do eventually want to play more of the games. All in due time I suppose.

Ahhh... Man I loved A Link to the Past. Definitely my favorite game in the series, but I'm probably partial since it was the first one I personally owned and beat.
