What i like in his channel is his memories and my from video gaming are so similar, and we live in a very different countries.
I loved sega since master system, here in brazil. Me and my friends playing mega drive in my home...
Awesome times back in 1987 to 1991!

    Now that's an awesome package.
I was always that kid that people came over to play my video games, haha. Between me and my brother we had tons of stuff. Though looking back on it now, there were so many games that we didn't play back in the day.

I have many fond memories of going to friends' houses and playing amazing games for the first time. This video is one of my favorites of yours and I have watched a lot of them. Definitely one of my favorite RUclips shows.

Great episode. The late 80's was the Golden age of gaming. The 8-bit era was already ruling America with the NES, SMS, and Atari 7800 along with the 16-bit era coming out in 89 with the Genesis and Turbo Grfx 16. Even the old school Atari 2600 was still hanging on and making games. I'm so lucky to have grown up in the late 80's and early 90's.

You brought back some good memories for me. I started playing video games at a friends house as well. He had a master system, but what really hooked me was his nintendo with smb. I begged my parents for about a year to get an NES. Great vid, great collection

Yeah, I'm 15 too, and I love playing on my NES and genesis, I have a ps3 but play it only every few weeks because I'm too busy with playing my classic games and even when I do play on my ps3, its normally Gran Turismo. Now, back to playing Castlevania...

As I said, everyone goes through what you're going through. I'm 31, and I constantly fight "Nostalgia Disease." It makes things from our past seem either much better than they were, or much worse. Not all older games were great, not all new games are bad. Many things got much better, even gameplay and story.

Wow, what luck! It's really crazy to see all those games in such great condition and many still really good games today. Proof being Earthworm Jim HD on Live and PSN is still top notch gameplay. It's seeing you get stuff like this and reflecting on the experiences and seeing your true passion for it is what makes this show so great.

  • @RealMarcFoxx
    @RealMarcFoxx 13 лет назад

A lot of people wax nostalgic, and I do the same thing... but let's not forget that as much as games rocked, in many ways they've gotten better. We always view the past with rose-colored glasses. I loved the classics from my childhood like Final Fantasy and Super Mario Bros. 3, but the newer games are offering a lot more features and additional things to do in the games.
The "golden age" of gaming is always dependent on your personal first experiences, and that changes for everyone.

This is one of the best unboxing videos ever. I am going to do a video similar to this when i buy back my SNES and games that i sold back in the mid 90's. Hopefully i get the boxes back. From what i remember some of the boxes were in sorta rough shape.Have fun with all that classic gaming goodness. Maybe we will see you review some of these great games you got!

It is my opinion that the Genesis revolutionized the "console launch" and for me it was the greatest system launch EVER!
Remember the commercial where the Genesis model 1 console is sitting on a glowing white altar and some kid is just in awe of what it is and then he starts to play it and they show Altered Beast and a few other game clips?
That was the best video game commercial ever for me!
Pinnacle of the console launch by far for me!

Amazing package Johnny! I remember when you showed me this last month. The shape is amazing on those items. Isn't Sonic 1 fairly rare in the box? I might be mistaken but most Sonic 1 games were pack ins and I don't remember seeing many around in the box. I also really like how you say "Eeko" rather than how we say it in the States "Ecko". TomAto, tomato. =) Great vid bro.

I remember buying Altered Beast for the Sega Master System and lamenting that the Werebear stage was missing from it. When the Genesis/Megadrive came out and included the game with it, I was officially made a Sega Fanboy.
Unfortunately, the brilliant Sega of the 8-bit/16-bit era is not the Sega today. :/
I miss my youth and seeing that stuff in mint-condition really drives home the nostalgia. Kudos to your mate for taking such great care of his possessions! :)

Whoa...that cover to Sonic the Hedgehog 1! The only 3 I am familiar with are the Japanese one, with all of the colorful confetti and the Trapper-Keeper style design, and the North American one with the black, grid design and the loop in the background (in both "Not for Resale" and regular style). After looking this up, I can see that this is the Canadian cover. Very cool! I had no idea Canadian games sometimes got different covers. I don't think I have seen any others in your videos with wildly different designs.

Okay, I have to ask, hopefully you can answer this question one day lol.. I've been watching a lot of your videos and I know you're a huge Sega fan and a huge genesis fan. I know you love Phantasy Star so you must at least have a bit of appreciation for Sonic Team. So why is there nearly no mention of Sonic on this channel except for a few odd references or acknowledgements here and there? To be honest, it actually blows my mind that you didn't have any original Sonic games on your Genesis because who the hell even has a Genesis or Mega Drive without at least a Sonic game..!?
Not that you have to like it or are expected to talk about it, it's just... I thought it was a bit odd is all. Seems to be an anomaly on your channel that I have never understood. Haha XD Anyway, love the Sega vids and seeing you react to old memories like this. GOod stuff.
